No mate, on the way down they're direct on a different line. On the way back there might be crossover of fans at Beaconsfield and somewhere else where there's a change required. I can't see any that actually go through Oxford and onto Warwick, I think Oxford and Oxford Parkway sit on a separate branch of the line.

Warwick is on the same line as Bicester North. So stops there. Thats where I'm getting on. As Oxford parkway will be a nightmare.
I think chiltern have put on extra trains so no need to change lines on some trains. But don't quote me on that

Oxford is end of the line on a separate branch of track. Both lines meet just out of Bicester.

Fwiw everything I could see out of Warwick on Sunday morning looked direct to Wembley Stadium. I'm not sure about the return journey though...

Went from Parkway for a sell out England game no problem at all, bit crowded but we all got on. Ages to get away waiting for trains back though. Going from Northampton this time as I'm picking up the grandkids, 9:30 train, not heard anything about restrictions. Getting to Marylebone and Wembley will be more painful, the return is always a nightmare no matter what transport you choose.

I've just cancelled my tickets from Warwick Parkway, not sure what we'll do but can't compare an England game with 40,000 going from Cov / Warwickshire travelled frequently via warwick parkway to London, the trains are quite small

Was getting a bit concerned about this, so I called Chiltern customer services about the trains from Warwick Parkway. There are 12 high capacity trains leaving Warwick that get to Wembley in time for kick off. Each one holds 400 to 500 people. There are approximately 12,000 people using the Chiltern services to Wembley (including all the services from Oxford). Don't know how many from the Warwick/Leam stations, but can't see it being more than 6000, given that probably at least half of the 12,000 would be coming from Oxford. It's gonna be busy and you likely won't get a seat, but they expect to get everyone there, even if you don't get the train you'd planned on getting. Just get to the station early, and don't forget the fully stocked mini fridge! :emoji_beer::emoji_beer: :emoji_beer:

I'm getting the Chiltern line from Oxford as that's where I'll be on Satruday night. I fully don't expect to get a seat, but it has to be applauded the organisation that the company has put into this. They've made the price fair and put loads of extra trains on. As one poster rightly pointed out, the Warwick Parkway and Oxford trains take a separate route too.
It's still going to be absolutely rammed but everyone should get there and back. I can't vouch for Coventry, as Virgin have been pretty quiet, but I think it'll be ok. A few beers (or 20), and the journey will fly past.

Virgin have put no extra trains on, and some Coventry City fans have blamed the club for it. The £225m net public subsidy they get clearly isn't enough to put on an extra train or too.

just rang Virgin to ask what arrangements had been made for Sunday as it's going to be bedlam, told me not to worry you have a reserved seat and if any one sits in it you can tell them to move. I don't think the Indian call centre have been briefed about the mindset of your average English football supporter!

I'm driving there on Sunday and getting the train in direct, as there and back the trains start/end at Wycombe and so I thought they would be pretty empty. If the station is now going to be rammed with Oxford fans I may have to change my plans...that will teach me to try to be a clever bastard

Completely agree.
They have made it easy and straightforward for fans, whilst capitalising on a lot of people that could potentially use their services.
If there is any backlash at Cov station, Virgin will probably deserve most of it. How can they not realise 40,000 odd people could be using their services in a single day, yet do nothing to make to make it more efficient and easier for their passangers, whilst also making a shit load of cash at the same time?

No they are keeping the two routes separate. Warwick Parkway goes through Banbury and Bicester but no stops at Oxford. Chiltern seem to have done a good job and planned ahead. Shame Virgin couldn't do the same.

Phew that's a relief, I have had a look at the Timetable and it appears all direct, so I should be ok at Beaconsfield or Wycombe. Still I will probably be spotted by some disgruntled Wycombe fan who will have put in the car windows by the time I get back from the game

This reminds me of 87 and queuing up to get on a train to Wembley. Me and my mate hung over from the night before and rolling up all excited at the day ahead. Long snaking queue a mile long when we thought we'd be straight on and away. When we got on it got delayed due to some wankers vandalising the line,so we missed the start of the game. Ended up behind the goal Houchen scored, though squashed in boiling hot and nearly getting sun stroke,but deriously happy.Spectator wise it was like being in a sardine can. So expect the unexpected folks !

A fair few of our lot will travel in from Beaconsfield/Wycombe for a direct train. Fair few will be upsetting the ching chongs going shopping to Bicester village..... Chiltern are putting on high capacity trains so that`ll be some very busy and others less so. There are a lot of coaches going and Oxford Bus company are doing £12 return with upto 3 under 16s free & £1 going to the Youth & Community Trust. OUFC Wembley : X90 : Oxford Bus Company
