I was dead in line with the half way line and up with the gods and I must say the singing of the 'in our Coventry homes' was amazing and seem to be taken up by all sections of the City support. I've been to many an international and indeed there in1987 but I cant remember actual songs song as loud as they were on Sunday in any of them. All Oxford had was 'yellows, yellows'.

Offenham I think you are bang on. In our Coventry homes was the loudest it's been sung since 1997 @ Spurs away. When fans are so far spread out it can take a few lines for all to join in but we all did and I thought we made some decent noise.
I've been to a couple of Spurs european games this year and they never got any kind of song going & there were 85k of them!!

Up in the Gods in 528, it was pretty loud. One thing I would say is that the Sky Blue Song always seemed to start behind and to the left of the goal, so it took until about the third line to reach us and get everyone singing, so I think there were only a couple of really powerful renditions (memorably just after the second goal). But did you see the tweet from the offal? "What a noise" they said.
The repetitive songs seemed to work better; "In our Coventry Homes" was just amazing on several occasions.

I think it's down to dispersal of the singers, but the distances and the speed of sound were to blame too!

Wembley is never great for atmosphere but I'm struggling to think of many occasions where it has been better for a City game than yesterday. Off the top of my head I can think of:
Roussel & Keane's goals v the Villa
Mifsud's 2nd at Old Trafford
Whing v Derby
Darren Purse's last minute missed pen
Mifsud's 2nd at WBA
Win v Liverpool at HR

I thought on occasions the atmosphere was subdued but there was one great In our Coventry homes rendition and sky blue song just before the 2nd goal , great day nonetheless

It's laughable really
Everyone got up at six to travel, washed a few down to Induce some optimism/belief.
Half of them haven't been since the Chelsea/Crewe /Gillingham games.
Many more young and elderly among us.
Thought the atmosphere was tremendous most of the time but us older ones need a breather for five minutes.

Core of singers spread out in a huge bowl with lots of "day trippers".............. its never going to happen like a home game & that doesn`t matter which end of the ground you were at.
At least you had two songs most folk seemed to know which kept it going....and winning helps as well!

To be fair, there was plenty of noise behind the goal where we were. Didn't seem to be much coming from down the sides though unfortunately. Although did notice that there often seemed to be different songs ongoing or out of sync between the different areas.

Someone mentioned a drummer. Saw him outside but assumed he hadn't been allowed to take it in as didn't hear the drum once in the stadium.

Whereas we making lots of noise on sides thought the centre was quiet!

Drummer was near us in 133 and he was going all game. It's just such a huge stadium that if 1,000 fans are singing in one area it might not travel all around. Atmosphere in 133 was great all game, well until the last 10 when we were all just trying to hold on.

Essex, do any of you lot happen to have a video of our fans after scoring the goals, something I'd love to see.

It was my first time at Wembley and I don't think it is a great stadium for getting an atmosphere going. i was sitting fairly close to the drummer and found it difficult over the general noise to pick up the chant to join in at times.

We got it going a few times though
That is half the problem. That drum needs to be thrown in the canal down the Foleshill rd. It doesn't create an atmosphere for all the best intentions and most people are annoyed by it more than anything. Time to ditch it and get the triangle back out!

@Liquid Gold ........ I will have dig around... not the first thing that I rushed to do!! :inpain::inpain:

There is a slightly embarrassing vid on social media of a rather bladdered Cov fan in our concourse singing the Cov homes song and trying to provoke a reaction.... all the folk just walked past him with a look of sorrow on their faces and 10 minutes later he was "watching from outside"... not his finest moment I would think.

Agree, hate the drum, as apposed to songs comping naturally the drum just takes over. We were getting songs going with the people around us but then if the drum was banging a different tune they would drown out.

Yeah I saw that, sorry I was just trying to count dots but got over excited ;)

In all serious that guy was being a dickhead and I hope he got kicked out and missed a great game.

Had a great day and hope everyone else did too!

In context, I'm saying the atmopsphere wasn't great. Lots of people will be harping on about yesterday and 'remember the atmosphere' when really it was poor. Died a death after the first goal and there's no way I'm having rose-tinted the atmosphere was amazing.

Various people were buzzing that they had got seats in block 134, 135 and 136, and then they just stood/sat in silence - which is a waste of decent seats that myself and 3 other ST holders would have snapped their hand off for.

I can't speak - lost my voice singing and shouting in 132...... sorry that it was all in vain

He got exactly what he was looking for from some "less accommodating" characters after the filming stopped........ he was then taken out by Wembley staff, not sure if that was horizontally or vertically...... :emoji_athletic_shoe::emoji_athletic_shoe::D:D

Too bloody right ... that was a very poor rendition!

So, for my sins I was sat in the corporates directly behind the Oxford end. I can tell you for a fact that the noise from the Cov end was properly impressive so with all due respect to the OP I think he's talking out of his arse.

@Essexyellows - your fans were a credit to you too and never stopped trying to lift the team. It was a cracking atmosphere at the ground, and other than one drunk, racist Coventry fan in the queue for the trains at the end I think everyone there can take pride in making it such a brilliant day.

Post #48 on the favourite moments thread. Video of 2nd goal and the celebration. From the cov end.

Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Yeah thats a cracking video but you can hear the people with the phone more than the general noise. I want to see what it was like from the other end of the pitch.

It's very tough to sound loud in that size stadium and keep the noise in . however , in general , I thought we sounded pretty loud at times . if you're looking for a bite , try picking on the Oxford fans - totally subdued .

I think the noise we made when the goals went in and at the final whistle definitely come over on the Channel 5 highlights. I replayed Thomas's goal a few times just to hear it. Still get goosebumps thinking about the memory of it. Second only to my wedding day (the second one!!).

I was sit right at the back of 134 we were belting everything out and I did get a couple of songs going in that block. However the noise from our fans was incredible, the lads bouncing at the front I couldn't hear them from the back of the block, that's how loud our end was in general!

But I can assure you everyone was singing as loud as we could!

As said, myself and others were trying to get songs going, and the fans around us just blanked it. From the second tier, in the second half, it was silent for most of the second half.

Why would I make that up?

Sorry to say this is the worst thread in a long time. Talk about trying to destroy a great day out with a ridiculous post.

On reflection, my original post was possibly a bit overly harsh. I wouldn't want to spoil a good day and the fans clearly made an effort, and it's not our fans fault the acoustics of Wembley are fucking awful.

I was just pissed off that I felt like I was watching on the tele and not anywhere near the thick of the action with everyone else, but at least I was there.

Fair enough, all I can say is that my experience of it wasn't the same as yours - the Cov end sounded great to me from exactly the other side of the ground. Being sat directly behind 20,000 Oxford fans we couldn't really get the Sky Blue Song going though, don't know why. :)

TBF quite a number of 'Fans' in our end would've been tourist / guest 'Fans' also . as in any 'Big' game .
