They enable us to play in a ground we can't afford to buy.
They enable us to play in Coventry.
The facilities at the Ricoh, thanks to their investment, are second to none and enhance the match day experience. Post and pre match.
What more do you want?

PMSL! Now I know you are a wind up merchant troll!

That reads like WASPS built the fucking place!!

There are a handful of mouthy Sisu apologists on here, who have for years attacked anyone holding Sisu responsible, who have deflected and pointed at anyone but the owners of the business for catastrophic failures on and off the pitch over the last 10 years. Why do they do it? I suspect mainly because they simply cant face up to the fact they got it badly wrong. They just keep on digging, trying to defend the indefensible.

This is true.
When they came in I was pleased but it was quickly clear they should never have been let anywhere near a football club.
The football League - whose job it is to govern the sport - should have withdrawn the golden share because Sisu have corrupted football for everybody.
The fact that a few 'mouthy Sisu apologists'
come on here and exhibit their stupidity is neither here nor there.

When Bournemouth got up into the Championship their average attendance was 6852 that's the point I was making, that figure is going to be lower than our average getting relegated - success is not just about or dependent on crowd numbers. At any club it has everything to do with the decisions made by owners primarily

Apparently our owners have spent 10's of millions in simply failing on many levels. It is not that we didn't have the money it would seem

"Bournemouth came into the Championship as League One’s biggest spenders and on a hefty £15m loss"

Was that when you said that we hadn't had average crowds over 23,000 for 39 years when you hid the fact that we would have had to sell out both home and away seats at HR for most of that time?

Eh? Our capacity was over 30,000 until the all seater stadium and easily held 25,000 post the cup win and we averaged 16,000?

So your plan would be to stay out in Northampton and wait for Sisu to go ?
Sisu would be waiting in Northampton for CCFC to hit the top of the cycle and sell?
I can see a problem already !! But let's carry on ....
At that point CCC would sell the stadium to the buyer of the club and both would be reunited?
No, Sisu sell the club for what's it worth and we can get a long term deal at the Ricoh, personalise some areas as our own and get on with the football.

The academy is compromised with the new swimming pool.

The rest 'morally corrupt' 'CCC BIAS' is just ranting and not worth response.

So you don't think sisu are morally corrupt?
Not surprised to be honest. What you are effectively arguing isn't that you shouldn't rip clubs from their communities, just that you should make it pay, (perhaps with the caveat that you get some car parking money).

Surprised you aren't pushing for a surcharge on CCFC tickets to pay Wasps, as we should be so thankful. You should be embarrassed of your post, sadly you wont be.

Do tell what fantastic facilities that enhance the match day experience that they invested in? Its still the same old shit just now with a Wasps badge on the stadium.

They can fuck off with SISU.

Herein lies the Coventry City fickle fan cycle.

Fans who say they won't attend matches if current owners in charge.

New owners appear.

Then blame continued lack of success on the pitch for not going.

New manager appears.

Then blame new owners for not investing.

And on and on and on....

I will admit that I am a fickle fan.

Normally I am not bothered about how far I travel. I normally try to change plans to get to games. But at this moment I have had enough. I have had too many times of driving for hours hoping we will at least compete. Then driving home for hours after yet another game where we didn't compete wondering why I bothered when I could have taken my family out for the day and had treasured time with my children who are at school all week. I work shifts so I have many weeks when I hardly see them.

I don't know what is worse. Most of our performances this season or being called fickle.

It's nothing to do with you.

I think by now every one on this forum knows how you have to travel land sea and ocean to get to a game and no doubt have to walk over burning coals to boot.

It's a question of those who are living in the vicinity of the actual City and what will be the potential attendance generated by the local population.

Come on G, thats a bit unfair. Astute does travel bloody miles to games and we should applaud those who make the effort, as at the moment every penny counts.

No it isn't.

We are not all like you and earn what the prime minister does and still able to be on here all the time. Thousands of us have to make sacrifices of sorts to get to games. IIRC there was a poll that found less than 60% of our support live in Coventry. How many have families that want to see more of them? How many are struggling financially these days?

Then consider the crap they are watching. It helps make their decisions for them.

And you expect thousands of us to travel to games all the time but you refuse to travel yourself.

My point is that most of us have difficulties of some sort. And the more difficulties you have the less chance of you wanting to go to watch utter dross like we have for most of this season. And it hasn't been good for most of the time for many years now.

Wish it wouldn't descend to fans' fault you know, utterly stupid.

That being said, Grendel has a point though, that because Sheff Utd's gates have held up well, that's made them saleable.

As has, indeed, having a ground to play at... and the club have worked for years on developing non football income streams

And no, me saying that doesn't mean I'm saying our fans are shit, yadda yadda yadda. No reason whatsoever for you, me, or Fisher's dog to turn up. Could argue it's a madman who pays to suffer. But... bigger gates make Sheff Utd more saleable, in the same way that people bang on about the potential of Coventry, but you never hear anybody saying they'll be taking Accrington on because they deserve their rightful place in the top flight!

But its not is it? He was replying to a poster regarding fickle fans and new full well he was not referring to long distance supporters

Yeah, I can see what you're saying but then again I think the surrounding area is full of decent sized teams, within 25 miles of the Ricoh as the crow flies you've got: Blues, Villa, Leicester and WBA.

Whereas Hull have got Scunthorpe and Grimsby, the nearest top 2 division team being Barnsley which is 47 miles away.

All of which are having the door in Coventry and Warwickshire for them opened by a failing CCFC both on and off the field. Talking of WBA they've just been to my children's school in Rugby for the second time that I know of. My children will turn 10 & 8 before the school year is out and since they've been at school WBA have been twice, Blues once, Villa once and don't even get me started on how many times Wasps have been there. CCFC have not been once in all this time. WBA also scouted one of my neighbours kids a couple of years back and he's going great guns with them from what I can gather. If there's no demographic in Coventry and Warwickshire beyond what we already have other midlands clubs don't seem to be agreeing with you. There's huge potential to mop up football fans in Coventry and especially Warwickshire. Just because it's one of the of the many failing's at the club to do so doesn't mean we should dismiss it as fickle fans. The problem is fickle owners.

I've admittedly only driven to Hull a handful of times but what has always struck me is how sparse it is from Scunthorpe to Hull. Hull doesn't have a Nuneaton, Bedworth, Leamington, Kenilworth or Warwick sitting on it's borders to attract a fan base from as far as I can tell. That's a big difference between Hull and Coventry before you even consider the extra 50K population Coventry has on Hull in the first place. I don't understand why anyone wants to be so down on our club by suggesting that it A) doesn't have as much potential as Hull and B) it must be because we have fickle fans. Funny how we enjoyed our best attendances in the Premier league in our last five seasons there and by some margin when Cup euphoria had long gone and we weren't exactly in a purple patch either in the league. Don't sound like we're fickle to me. Certainly no more than any other teams. I guess that just makes us human then, not fickle.

I agree. But they have had constant top half finishes. They have made the playoffs. They have had reasons to get excited.

We have had relegation battle after relegation battle. The most interesting thing about our club is all about court battles and the arguing about if we should demonstrate or not. Or if we will have somewhere to play next season.

That doesn't make us suddenly turn up in numbers like SUFC do.

The elephant in the room, people keep ignoring when doing comparable attendances with other clubs, in the previous 20/30/40 years, is the fact we haven't had a top 6 finish for nearly 50 years. Football is all about glory for most fans, as witnessed by our huge following last Sunday. The bread and butter of a football season is your league games, and on that front we have suffered endless years of failure. The surprise is not how low our gates have often been, it is with what we have had to endure for countless years is that any of us still go. No other club comes even close to us in the years of our utter failure in the 3 divisions we have been in since the late 1960's. The fact that so many fans like Astute travel literally hundreds of miles each game to watch decades of failure show a devotion bordering on insanity. The fact that most fans see no real hope for the future whilst these cowboys run our club, is why so many won't be renewing their season tickets next season.

My biggest surprise is how many we still manage to get.

Will see what happens in Division 4 next season. We should be OK if we have a good start. But if we have a bad start I can see us losing many more.

At least we have new grounds to visit to look forward to next season

Not really. For example why having beaten Chelsea 3-2 on the opening day of the season did our next game against Bolton attract a miserly 16,700?
