BBC Midlands today - team of 87 not invited... (13 Viewers)

It seems the anger is that he has had to buy a ticket and probably won't be getting a free corporate piss up.
Why should former players be given freebies? And who decides who gets in free and who doesn't. Has anyone contacted Roy O'Donovan and Kevin Kyle to make sure they're sorted for tickets?

Seems to me the most sensible way to do it was via the former players association and that looks like that's what they've done.

This pretty much sums up the Telegraph.

First off an article by Andy Turner:
Coventry City legend flying in from America to join former Sky Blues at Wembley
Two coach loads of former players will be cheering on the Sky Blues on Sunday
A host of former Coventry City players will be making the trip to Wembley to see the Sky Blues in action on Sunday.

Ex-City stars including Gary McSheffrey and Claus Jorgensen from the modern era to Ronnie Farmer and Dietmar Bruck from yesteryear will be travelling down to the national stadium as part of a contingent organised by the club’s hugely successful Former Players’ Association.
Then one from Simon Gilbert:
Coventry City snubs 1987 FA Cup winners ahead of Wembley visit
The team has not been invited as guests of the club
Coventry City’s 1987 FA Cup winning team has not been invited to join the club at Wembley for its first visit to the national stadium in 30 years.

FA Cup winning legend Micky Gynn has told the Telegraph he feels “sad and a little bit angry” that the team has been overlooked by the club - especially in the year of the 30th anniversary since the club lifted that famous trophy.

For once I agree with the club why should they get a free day out some of them have been living on it for 30 years.

If they want to go buy a ticket this would also be my view for any home games no free tickets for ex players

If I were an ex player I would be bloody ashamed at the way the current owners are running our once great club and I would tell them to shove their 'free' Wembley invite right up their Marmite motorway.

why would the club invite them if the former player have? cant go with both invites, anyway looks like Benno will be there doing commentary, so the moaning git will be getting paid to be there.

The club gave the former players association the allocation and the 87 players were offered the tickets but had to pay - perish the thought.

Hypocrites the lot of you.
We've all been living on it for 30 fucking years.

Dave Phillips is moaning that it was £62.50 for a ticket.

I know; I seen your tweets ;)

I was going to ask that if (or when) we win tomorrow does that mean that each of the squad members can get freebies for the next 30 years too?

Imagine it;

CCFC V Man United in the FA Cup. Special guests on the day - Ruben Lamieres and Yakubu!

Surely there has to be a point where it stops?

Yes I get they are legends (87 squad, not the above two, well not until tomorrow anyway in Yaks case ;)) but come on!?!

Was wondering about if we win how long could they live off it for. I could understand a bit more if it was even the same competition.

Have we? Following season (or one after) we were I the top 10 and the top 3 for a while. The cup final gave a lot of the players recognition and made a name for them. Sillett deserves his place but graham Rodger? No he can pay

Dave Phillips lives near me and I have been to a few social things where he has been there.
On each occasion he came across as a bit of an arrogant twat and trust me he can well afford to buy his own bastard ticket!!
Let's face it, he only played because Bugsy got injured!!

Don't forget folks its a fallacy if you think Grendel defends our owners on here.

I don't - but also I don't think they should have had free tickets - you do then?

On this occasion no question. It was 30 years ago when we last played and won a cup at Wembley.
We should have honoured the guys who did it back then on our return there. Even if it was just for the checkatrade.

That's your view. Why does anyone oppose that view support the owners?

So Billy Bell - he supports the owners does he?

It is more a case that any criticism of a decision made by our owners or of our owners will be followed by a post by you at some point saying the opposite.
Which is fine as that's your opinion which you are entitled to and you should be posting it on here.
It's the bit later when say you never post anything defending our owners.
Which technically is correct as you never post what you seem to think, that you support the actions of our owners.
Instead you just defend their decisions and actions in each thread where they are criticised without fail.

This has nothing to do with the owners. Do you not agree with Billy Bells comments then?

Is Billy Bell on everything thread on here that is critical of SISU providing the opposite opinion. Then later denying that he agrees with our owners actions?

There are several people on here who have agreed that the club shouldn't have handed them free tickets. Are they supporting sisu as well or just me?

I guess you haven't a clue who Billy Bell is. He runs the FPA and said the club had done a great job in liaising with them and offering tickets to sell to former players. The cup winners were offered them via this channel.

I believe only two complained - one of whom has an axe to grind.

You supported the move to make thorn manager - so were you a sisu supporter then?

(I guess it depends if they are also on every thread where the owners' actions or decisions are criticised, providing the opposite opinion)

(I know who he is I have met him and I know about the tickets but I feel they should have been guests of honour)

( They generally wouldn't complain. They should not have to it should not have happened.)

(Am I on every thread defending their every decision. You went against them once when they decided on Northampton, because it inconvieneced you slightly then you soon, changed your mind. )

Did joy decide not to invite them? Or did the club decide to just work with former players to sort it?
