The Richardson era was disastrous and yes led to our downfall and ultimately led to sisu coming here. But I can go back further to Derrick Robins who did bankroll us in the JH days and often lauded on here but fluffed it massively letting Brian Clough slip through his fingers.

Did he have some sort of deal where his company installed the seats in the ricoh?

Also wasn't there a plan in place at one time to turn the Ricoh into the national football stadium or have I got confused, or was McGinnety ?

And the fella ( I cleaned that up) came on the radio the day we got relagated at villa park saying the fans didn't do enough

However the decline is nothing new and has been coming gradually over many, many years and others have to shoulder a lot of blame for this including CCC!

No that was McGinnity. Whoever was chairman at the time voted for the introduction of all-seater stadium & I think McGinnity's family business was one of or the main seat installers across the country

McAllister went on a free. IIRC he wanted to sort out an extension before the season started and the club kept putting it off. Then around or just after Xmas the club then wanted to talk but McAllister didn't. Next season we went down and Liverpool did the treble and a young Gerard got the benefit of training with a very savvy seasoned pro. Still we signed Bellamy. Every cloud and all that.

Wasn't it the sale of HR that Richardson or his company benefitted from? Don't remember the details, not even sure it's right to be honest, it was just something someone told me at the time.

Not sure if McGinnity's family firm was involved in installing the seats at the Ricoh. He was instrumental in the sale of Highfield Road (with Robinson I think) and another of his family's businesses may have been involved with the building of houses/flats on the HR site. Nothing dodgy there at all

Just read an article probably from Giblet's book that says that ACL didn't choose Pel seating (McGinnity's business) cause they were too expensive & McGinnity wasn't happy

Things the pre Sisu board were responsible for:

Relegation from the Premiership.
Being tenants rather than owners at the Ricoh.
The high Ricoh rent deal.

Things Sisu are responsible for:

Relegation from the Championship
Relegation from League 1
Imminent loss of the Academy
Lowest attendances in our history
No stadium deal in place from 2018
Two lots of point deductions
Purposely moving our club to Northampton

Richardson, Robinson and McGuinity were terrible owners of the club. Yet they aren't the worst.

I'm sure they should but the owners make their own decisions and do some attempt at absolution is lazy and ridiculous.

It's like the tories blaming labour for the state of the health service. Whatever happened all they time ago has no bearing on relegation yesterday.

Also it's not even factually accurate

You forgot to mention selling the home we owned for a soulless box that crippled us.

Have to thank MM for that one.

LOL. If you say so. It was Richardson's "vision" after all. A move no one wanted to make apart from him.

If we hadn't got relegated it would have been a viable project.

He had a buy back clause in the contract for the eventuality of relegation. You can say it all you like but he didn't sell the clause and he was removed as the remaining board members and the council wanted the project to happen.

Whatever he is guilty of Richardson isn't responsible for any of SISU's business decisions.

If it was as bad as the OP would like to imply when they arrived then surely SISU would not have taken the club on. If they failed to do adequate due diligence that is their own fault.

Buy back with what? We were £40+M in a hole. The clause was worthless. The £40+M in debt Richardson had lumbered us with was why the board got rid, problem was the board was all cut from the same cloth. You very naively think Richardson would have done different if the board hadn't removed him. All they did was continue on the path he was going down.

And Sisu also took people's shares off them. People always forget this.
