dont understand all the negative stuff about this signing. we are desperate for players and its been well documented that we've got no cash. what do people really expect. he will be pretty cheap wages wise and he brings a bit of experience into the side.

So he's a short term fix for a team who we know are already relegated. Waste of wages. Seems to me that's a lazy signing. There's got to be better gems about who would be cheaper.

Just like to point out that Dennis Wise was 39 when he signed for us. But typical Cov fans, slag off a player who hasnt even played.

But Wise is a impact player on the pitch in a vital position. HH is a defender who will not make much if any impact.

We need impact players further up the pitch.

It's not a bad signing. What do people expect. We are bottom of the league so I didn't expect Wayne bridge.

He's the current capain of his country.

In our position, its about as good as it gets, but i cant help thinking its a waste of wages

Doncaster get Diouf, we get Hermann !

now Mcpake is out, we officially have 3 fit defenders (clarke isnt fit )

Surely Herman is going to help with this ?

Andy thorn i have faith in you and will stick up for you. But when you sign a forward who cant score and an oap defender who has been relegated with every English team he's played for you really aint helping yourself

regardless of whether its his first choice or not its the wrong place, we need goals!!!. For the record, cody was his first choice.......

Signing players with experience is ok. He's a commited player who has stayed fit. When strachan played at 40 he was the best player we had. Can't get the negativity on this one and coming from me that says it all.

If he was still good enough why would Pompey let him go?

I agree regarding the experiance side of the arguement but should we not be concentrating on building a team ready for Division 1?
We need hungry players with ambition who have some fight in them, ok they cost money but surely this is just a waste of money, when we need someone who maybe able to score the odd goal, maybe thats why he wants to have a look at the man city kid.

As for non of the players being his choice thats just another excuse not to put any blame on AT, don't know why he was our scout because non of them were his signings or number 1 choice, oh they were the ones that have been sold were.

How do you know who he signed?

I agree we do but how did Derby's winning goal come about today? Through a mistake by our makeshift left back, its definitely a position that needs strengthening.

Sorry for the double post.

Can't believe some of the rubbish I'm reading in this thread.

Nimely is a crap signing because he's too young, now Hreidarsson is a crap signing because he's too old? Make your mind up lads.

As for him apparently not going to make an impact because its not a signing further up the pitch...wow, I'm not even gong to respond to that, what nonsense.

I think he's a quality signing, adds a bit of experience to thorn's kiddy fiddler squad. A quality left back who knows his trade. Surely he is the oldest player in the squad by about 7 or 8 years?

Oh ffs! I am such a fool. Despite it saying Herman Heridarsson I opened this up excited having confused with Heidar Helguson and wondered what all the moaning was at! :(

Yes I must admit I initially thought that as well!

This signing makes a lot of sense to me. Left-back has been a weakness since we lost Danny Fox. Hussey is the only proper left-back we have and he is injured anyway - even when fit, he is prone to making mistakes.
HH has the experience to provide some leadership and organisation on the pitch, something we have sadly lacked since Carsley stopped playing a year ago and, I suggest, a major reason for our current predicament.
And I just don't accept that it is too late for us to escape this mess - some of the teams above us are playing atrociously - Millwall for example. We just need 2 or 3 wins this month and we will have a fighting chance - it is not yet time to throw in the towel!

Not sure how I feel about this, on one hand the side is missing proper experience. The kind of experience we haven't had since Carsley was injured last year (his influence to our good run last year is hugely underestimated imo) on the other hand he has been relegated 5 time, is that the type of experience we want? He is a LB which is a position we are struggling in currently with injuries which is good but at his age I doubt he can keep up with most players in this league, could be a bit like Gary Neville last year before he retired where everyone was running rings around him and he resorted to crude challenges and fouls giving away penalties.

that is the worry, you get a pacey winger against him and we will get ripped to shreds. Lets face it, it cannot get any worse so lets see what happens eh???

Though put a pacey winger against Wood or Hussey and either would be ripped to shreds :p
