Overseas fans can watch all games live next season (29 Viewers)

How much effort they put into blocking UK users will come down to how much fuss Sky kicks up. The clubs / EFL won't care where they subscription money is coming from.

Can't imagine it having much of an impact on Sky subscription numbers or match attendances so it will most likely be easy to sign up from the UK.

Presume it will be a feed from the camera used for highlights with the CWR commentary stuck over the top.
The only sticking point is that live games start at silly o'clock here in California so I am hoping it's the kind of service where you can watch at any time.
I can't imagine they've built the system from the ground up, would be too much work and too expensive. They will probably use existing infrastructure. I know MLB run services for others (NHL and WWE are both on their platform). They allow catch up immediately so fingers crossed for something similar.

On the WWE and NHL one, how easy are there for people to get a legit stream and then just share it? As it's on the computer would have thought it was rife with streams then being fed of it?*

*To confirm, I don't fancy risking jail etc but just wondered how likely it was others would do it.

it prob will be the 1 camera yes and not full tv package in terms of different angles etc for sure.

i doubt there will be any commentary

Hopefully they'll let people VPN it, I'd probably pay for it as an away game service.

The Digital Economy Bill going through Parliament at the moment gives lots more powers to stop live streams so maybe they're banking on that.

I want VR streams now, then I never have to leave the house. And I could drink during the game.

I doubt they will advertise the VPN stuff but somebody will find a way around it :)

If there is, I will hassle VPN providers etc for group discount for here ;)

Yeah I mean I hope they don't crack down too much. Like Netflix, used to let you use a VPN to access al countries libraries until the program makers complained they weren't enforcing restrictions so they had to change it. I can see clubs getting twitchy if half the subscribers live in Cov for example.

Netflix are ruthless with VPNs now so just block whole IP ranges if they think it's dodgy.

WWE streams seemed to have dropped massively since they started their own legit service. They had a big clampdown on streams when it first started and as its only $9.99 a month for a perfect HD legal stream I think most people go for that. NHL streams have been clamped down on as well since MLB took it over, seems the streams you can find are from TV.

I'd happily pay for it just for away games. Think most people would at that price, hopefully they do a monthly option as well.

Don't know why I bother

For those planning to use a VPN you will need a decent one to stream HD because the free ones will be too slow. I use F-secure Freedome which is a good price and very fast. (although you will still need a decent internet connection speed)

It's a whole other world above 4ft10.

As for watching us on tv for most games. Not for me.

Cheeky fu...

I guess if you're local and you wanted to watch, you *should* go and physically watch. For those in far flung places, at least it gives you the option to see how bad we are.

Fuck me, you need to get out more mate.
I've lived abroad for 11 years now and been subscribed to SkyBlues Player for most of that, listening to city every Saturday afternoon. It's been fucking painful. CWR's interviews are woeful, the commentary worse and more often than not (Dave Bennett, Claus Jorgensen and Marcus Hall aside) their guest commentators are ex players out on a jolly for the day without a clue of the player names or recent history, several times in the last couple of years if they lose the link, they cut over to Wasps commentary.

So while I was a little tongue in cheek, not only do i not have to put up with that shit any more, I actually get to watch every game live for just a little over double the price of the old package. Aside from a takeover or signing Ronaldo, this is just about the best CCFC related thing that could have happened to me.

I think this is a fantastic package, but watch the price rocket in the 2/3 year.
Wish this had come a few years earlier when I lived in the middle of nowhere in France.
So will there be an option for fans here in the UK to buy this so they can watch away games too ?

Not at the minute it seems.

I'd guess it's to do with rights.

Cheers Nick, people with a busy worklife who cant make many away trips would definitely be interested, we may have trips to Carlisle and Hartlepool, Yeovil etc next season

You'd be surprised. I bet we will get about 300-500 overseas fans who sign up. If we start to do well in L2, that number will increase even more. I've lived in many countries around the world and I am always amazed how many Cov fans I get to meet.
This true and I wasn't being serious. :)

They just get whichever player is in for the Former Players Association most of the time don't they? Would prefer it if they had a handful of people like Jorgensen who are local and good at it and just rotated them round every few weeks.

Like hearing the old boys before the match but when they clearly haven't seen us in months / years and don't know who anyone is they aren't adding much to the commentary.

It's worse when they don't really realise we are in the lower leagues and talk as if we are in the Premier League still :(

Yes I think that's right, would much prefer an extended interview reminiscing with them at half time (like they do at tea on the cricket) or before the game even and get a decent co-commentator in.

i cant see efl paying for commentaters for every game
But CWR will still be going I'm sure so the points are still valid. Andd no chance there'll be commentary unless it's a fan doing it for free! Used to like the old sky option on occasion, when you could pick the two rival fans commentating. For the current SB Player highlights, I'm 99% sure the commentary is added after the game, just something a little too wooden about it.
