Rumour: Hoffman and Elliot takeover negotiations (68 Viewers)

Looks like a sensible bid to me. SISU keep the only thing of value left other than players. The consortium don't overpay by too much leaving funding to take us forward. SISU don't waste any more money on something they don't have a clue about running.

But Joy will hold out expecting much more. Why won't she at least meet to negotiate an exit? Maybe she knows they will just walk away.

the worry is that this means they want to hold onto the club? But why, it's a fucking basket case.

apparently one of the facebook groups has people on it who are adamant the 4th bid has gone in, not on it myself so don't know but that's the talk at work by people who are on it.

hopefully italia will let us know, he was right about ryton part of deal etc

also someones username i forgot said 3rd bid is 21m so not far off the potential sale price we have now. so he may be in the know too.

we need to build a database of these guys who end up proven correct about rumours lol

Is the club merely being used to dump debt onto, which is why they won't entertain a bid (caveat - I am clearly not an accountant )?

This won't happen now. This is so demoralizing for us. We are literally stuck in the sisu prison and joy is the only one with the keys.
I am not saying it will happen but if it gives Sisu a way out at a price they can live with then it will be done once that point has been reached.
Putting logic behind the owners thinking is both pointless and frustrating. If anyone can get this over the line i hope it is this group who have the interests of Coventry City at heart.

From her point of view why would she meet to discuss. The three bids so far, each increasing by a small amount in actual guaranteed funds, have been well short of her expectation. Why would she waste time on it given the high probability that the figure expected can not be provided.

Do they need to sell, is there any current financial hurt for SISU or ARVO?

Another pointless bid that's conveniently leaked across social media.

Regarding the view it's being considered as it took a while to reject I suspect the truth is that Seppella took a few days to look at it and then just said no.

It's ridiculous to suggest it's an insult she's not meeting to discuss either. As people like house analogies would you meet with someone who offered a tiny fraction of what you believe the house is worth

If this really is a £20 million bid as its being suggested then offer the £20 million now - I think she'd talk then.

Your analogy doesn't work for me. A football club is emotionally owned by the community and city. Financially supported by the fans - SISU are mere custodians of CCFC. Yes is has cost them money - but remember they picked it up for a song.

Hoffman really is a bastard trying to get the club out of sisu's grubby hands isn't he?! He really should just offer untold millions and that be the end of it!

Its this I don't understand.

At much as I hate to say it they are intelligent people, who deal in high finance in the aim of making money, and yet cant see that they own a Football Club that they have truly screwed up and that is worth fuck all.

No but if someone tells me they are offering £20 million and that's their valuation I'd want it now.

Are you saying AL was wrong to go to see Joy and hear her out and that she should have just waited for SISU to put in numerous bids until AL decided it was worth her while or is this just more double standards from the king of duality.

Firstly to give them an inclination of what that figure actually is.
Who knows what Gary Hoffman is actually capable of pulling off with his business connections.
That's what most business people would do. In her position. Keep that door ajar.
It could keep the relationship between her and people with money who are interested cordial. Everything changes in business so who knows what is around the corner. Why upset them either rudeness.
Also this is lifelong fans trying to bid for the club. She has personally met other fans to discuss her plans for the club.
Why not meet a few fans who are that passionate they wish to throw their money away.
Also we are reportedly under consideration at the moment from another consortium, amongst others. Dealing with our owners could be perceived as a big negative compared to other options.
Finally it is the decent respectful and proper way to behave. Even if it is just a video conference call.
Refusing to meet shows a lack of class, in my book. Which if very different to my experience of her.

Are you surprised?
When have Seppala, Fisher etc ever shown any respect to the fans? or shown they give a shit? They despise us, and probably see us as insignificant peasants.

That's the key. If Hoff is saying CCFC, or the bits he wants to buy, is worth £20m she'll want the £20m now.

He is saying it's worth around 2 million because that's what he is bidding. He is bidding for potential.
He is saying it could be worth more long term if ran in a manner that achieves success as oppose to continuous failure.
He is saying if his people run it in that way and achieve the success. Then as an incentive to sell SISU can still have a portion of that pie.
Alternatively they keep running the way they are and it continues to fall in value.
(I think)

Is the club realistically worth £20M? The assets are: Ryton £6M, Current Players £3M?, Transferred Players Future % £0 - £5M?, Good Will ....ha, ha!
So, I would project an offer of £3m upfront [Assuming we think the current contracted players are worth this?] + Ryton + Transferred players % would be the Maximum to be offered.....I would see this as a tangible £9M + add on's

Hoff isn't saying CCFC, or the bits he wants to buy, is worth £20m. He's saying it's worth £2M up front with add ons potentially rising up to £20M.

If Callum Wilson was worth £6M with add ons why didn't Bournemouth just pay £6M up front?

Nothing unusual about buying something with add ons, especially true with football.

My own personal experience I contacted them to vent my frustration at they way they were running the club and I ended up meeting both of them. I disagreed at the time and still disagree with the way they are doing it. Also things they stated have not happened.
However they met me face to face and debated.
So I respect them for that.
So not meeting the consortium I find strange.

Also the Gary Hoffman, should not have complained about the rejection getting announced in the paper (first time round). He should have complained at the tone of the article and how the offer was portrayed.
As now his interview seems hypocritical.
I think he is right to keep us updated once the offer has been rejected. As should the club. However non of this barbs such as derisory etc...

it is a game of poker - Joy will make sure she gets as much out of hoffman as she can
Hoffman will try to deal as low as he can

Joy can wait a month or 2 - she is not concerned with transfer windows etc

who blinks first

oldskyblue58

CCFC Finance Director
She is saying the offer needs to be worth far more to her. She has no need to sell, it would not be a distressed discounted sale. She wont blink because nothing is being negotiated

If he is buying the potential and believes it is worth much more long term then his bid must reflect that in her eyes

Are add ons an incentive. The biggest part of these deals seems to be on getting to the Premiership in 5 years or something - I know the value I place on that right now

It terms of asset value it is worthless it can not fall significantly so it is not an issue to Seppala. The amount she needs is still based on ARVO imo

The club is parked, it should have, even with low ST sales, a reasonable L2 budget....... a little success on the pitch and that will only increase

He has offered 2m plus an asset she already controls (Ryton) that can move around the group structure to keep it away from the GH Consortium and a majority of value £12m+ as add ons that are frankly unlikely to happen looking at it today, unless there is very significant amounts of working capital put in either as shares or loans. Does GH have that backing, if he hasn't then the value JS places on the add ons will be negligible. Don't forget she knows full well how add ons work she "saved" £6m when not promoted to Premiership

So the offer is not really £20m, not even £8m (ryton plus £2m)............... but £2m ............. who thinks she will sell at that? Take your sky blue glasses off and answer honestly by putting yourself in her position. Very unlikely isn't it

some have doubts that GH consortium has actual funds but on flip side he is talking about investing to sustain growth and get promotions all whilst knowing that 50% of sales go to sisu etc.

if hes telling the truth it makes me think they prob do have money but just dont want to part with it all so soon as its needed to run the club when they get it.

I wouldn't say they despised us personally, that would mean they've given us the slightest hint of consideration.

Yes probably a better description, although their complete lack of regard does make you feel that way sometimes. I struggle to recall many businesses thinking less of their customers.
