Some of you are losing your minds.

I am not pro Tory, or pro Labour, or pro Lib Dem. I am just asking questions.

This arrogance reminds me of the Brexit debacle. People are not going to be persuaded to vote Labour when they are genuinely on the fence and get such a pitch fork response. I'm genuinely looking for the best overall package to vote for, if anything all this thread has done is make me be wary of Labour even more.

Next Thursday ought to be fun if Labour lose, there is such a defensive 'I'm never wrong' attitude flowing here which is not very nice.

I totally agree that all sides need to tell us why THEY are the best choice - not why the other side ISN'T. Sick to death of smear campaigns.

Yes, Labour contributed to the problem last time round...what is their plan to make it right next week?

That's why it is largely irrelevant. The civil servants put the priority arguments down, only loosely aligned to the (ir)relevant manifesto, & the key negotiation strategy. The PM largely just delivers to EU leaders what they tell him. PM & staff gets EU responses & counter demands...& it all goes back to civil servants to quickly pick the bones out of before responding & coming back their own counter demands for the PM to return with.
The PM role in it is to keep it all as far as possible roughly aligned to their manifesto promises, & people buy people first...so to be received well by the other sides teams.
Now call me old fashioned...but I think cringing granny in league with Lizard Davis & Bonkers Boris, versus warm-hearted (front at least) grandpa...all be it flanked by Paul (of the movie!) from the LibDems & Wee Jimmy Krankie from the SNP!

Yes Bazza - the way this brexit campaign has been portrayed is as if May has been burning the candle at both ends, working out the fine details, and she'll be tied up for the next year doing just that. All she'll be doing is delivering a few speeches and signing on the dotted line once the brexit team have dotted the i's and crosssed the t's.

To be honest, these negotiations really ARE a big deal and IMHO you need the best people sorting it out. To me that means the Government being grown up about it and having it made up of the top stragegists and economists, utilising cross-party ministers and civil servents .... whatever it takes to get a unified and good deal for the whole of Britain. It can't be trusted to just one side to sort out.

They will still comfortably win.

They have looked to increase presence in Scotland, which they may achieve, they are looking at getting a better stronghold in the South West and are definitely trying to gain Westmorland.

In the end, I suspect, the outcome will be similar to 87. Then it was a poor casual campaign but in the end voters looked at Kinnock and thought again.

Actually amazing that they get away with this..... the sheer callousness of selling weapons to a barbaric 7 century kingdom whilst knowing exactly what they are using the weapons for in Yemen, and whilst they are furthering the spread of their radical and violent form of Islam in Britain. Our great ally Trump has just flogged them 110 billion dollars worth of weapons over the next 10 years..... despite 9/11. Would Corbyn have sold them our weapons? Would he censur Trump? The report must show The Saudis in a bad light otherwise it would have been published before the election. If it gets published straight after the election, it will have been forgotten about by the next election.

I remember us selling arms to Iraq in the early 80s. I even had a chat with one of Saddam's arms buyers in London. Dead nice guy and really generous - g and ts all round. I asked him what he did for a living and he was quite open about it. That all ended in tears.

I can't vote as I live abroad, but I would vote for a party against May. She represents more of the same. Old fashioned tory policies and the island mentality of bygone generations. No, I don't see us as global Britain under May. More of a Britain desperately looking for new trade deals and having to deal with scum such as the Saudi royal family.

You would think voters would take the opportunity to vote for the third party (whether that is Green or Lib Dems etc) if they do not want to vote for the big two. I have seen many a comment on here that people are suggesting they are not Tory/Labour voters (whilst attacking the other party) but you guarantee they will only vote for one of those.

Its a wasted vote with the system we currently have in place. Compare the votes UKIP and SNP got in the last election and the number of seats they ended up with. No point voting for someone who has no chance of winning in your constituency.

exactly its the system that doesn't help. The current system is encouraging the two party system and stops other parties taking a footfold completely albeit UKIP, Lib Dems and certainly SNP have made strides in certain areas. For me a vote is never wasted as long as its used but of course you are not backing the winning horse.

the more votes a smaller party gets then the more chance of one of the big two adopting policies which appeal to their support base so it's not wasted.

She won't go head to head with Corbyn on Question Time tonight despite the BBC and Corbyn asking her to. She's also pulling media appearances and there is an email doing the rounds on twitter alleging all local BBC stations have been told she won't speak to them.

How can she bang on about being strong and stable and able to take on Europe to get us a fantastic deal when she's scared to face off with Corbyn who we keep being told is absolutely useless?

In fairness to the Tories Ian, they have always said they have put more money into the NHS and that graph does seem to suggest that. It would be interesting to see how the "real terms" figures stack up, and WHERE that money has gone...services HAVE been cut. An elderly neighbour who was blind had a home help come twice a day - a service run by social services/NHS/council - but this was contracted out to a private company. I'd like to think the money pumped into the system is used within the system, but I woudn't hold my breath.

Would like to see the figures for other public services in that chart (eg. police, fire, armed forces, council help etc) see how much they've improved.

At least the minimum wage and tax allowance have gone up as fast as the price of items.... oh wait....
