Has robins confirmed we even want him?

Here's 22 reasons why he would/should.
9 goals from inside the box from shots
6 headers
5 penalties
2 25 yarders

First of all never trust anything you read in Luton Outlaws. Trust me on that one. I can only comment on the guy who has tweeted it. He is 99% of the time right. But it looks like it will come down to personal terms. Personally 250k which is from what I've heard isn't the offer been accepted is more than enough for a league 2 striker.
That doesn't sound good!

If he goes Luton over CCFC if we've matched/had a big accepted then it's ok if the player don't fancy us.

Better to no now than get a unhappy unsettled player in a few months time who's not performing to his potential.

We need players that want to wear the shirt and go to battle 46 times for the badge, the fans.... yes the club are just employers but we need them united together for the challenge.

That's the problem I fear that we won't match them, if we were serious we would match them or better them.

Have we all gone mad? Do people really think that Sisu are going to actually spend £200,000 to sign a player? Lets get real.
I doubt they will . but , if they got Collins , I'd imagine quite a number of season tickets would definitely be sold on the back of that signing . would be a smart move by Sisu / Fisher .

We can if we sell Willis, Harries or Stevenson. Will also help convince George Thomas to commit to another deal here.
Shows we have ambitions of promotion to resigning players and new yet to arrive.

This is from 2012, reading it you'd think he'd want to come here.
The Robins striker was a City season-ticket holder in his youth, as he and dad Steve graced the terraces at Highfield Road to watch the likes of Dion Dublin, Darren Huckerby and Paul Telfer fly the flag for the Midlands outfit in the Premier League.

Collins told the Swindon Advertiser : “It’s the first time I’ve ever played their first team so I’m looking forward to it.

“Obviously Coventry are a massive club and I wouldn’t want them to be in this position in League One. I think they’re definitely a Championship side, they’re a big, big club. I always look out for their results and I know a couple of players there.

JJ would of been a similar or higher fee...
Turnbull was a undisclosed fee too

Yes I know there was "undisclosed fees" involved in them transfers but can't believe Jones would cost anywhere near £200,000! Does anyone know the actual fee?

Turnbull would have been no way near 200k. Jodi Jones would have been closer

Was a fee tho regardless.
I'd not of payed a fiver for Turnbull!!!!
Lightweight and slow, was not value for what ever the fee may of been.

Don't want Collins personally, he's not good enough for L1 and we're supposed to be building a team to progress from this league to the Championship.

He's got form when it comes to not waiting for us. He decided to join Swindon rather than wait for our transfer embargo to be lifted a few years back.

And I don't think I've ever seen an accurate story on HiTC anyway.

I see what your saying but we need players for now and the future tho, it may take 2 seasons to clinch promotion to league one.

Not many teams bounce back the following season so it takes time to build a stable side for a second attempt.

We need players like James to get us there and not solely build a team ready for the next level or again above.

It seems we tried doing that last summer and it proved our undoing as we was not in a position to match others who were already above.

We gotta win and compete next season to build upon anything.

But it won't be SISU spending the money, will it? It'll be CCFC. Or not spending it as the case may be.

Friend of mine spoke to somebody in his family the other night, his preference is to sign for us however it all depends on whether we match crawleys estimation.

No offers have been made but we have put an enquiry in about signing him.

If there were two like for like offers on the table (or even a lightly reduced package), he would chose us. He's been a Coventry fan forever and was really unlucky not to have made it at our academy. I would have no concerns at all about him playing for the badge etc.

He might be the target man striker we need, even if he isn't everyone's cup of tea, we haven't had a decent striker in that mould for a long time.

Crawley Town have said striker James Collins is 'very much part of our plans'.

It was reported today that the club have turned down two six-figure transfer bids from Luton Town and Coventry.

Crawley Town: "The club’s policy is not to comment on speculation regarding our players or potential transfer targets.

"With regard to James Collins, he is a valuable member of our squad who played a big part for us last season, not least with his goal-scoring prowess.

"James has two more years left on his contract and is very much part of our plans for next season and beyond."

Yeah I agree he gives his all in games and is a "horrible" striker to play against. I'm very much in the sign him up camp as he's ticks so many boxes and should we spend/reinvest any cash coming he should be the man we get.

My point about playing for the shirt was if he fancies someone else if there terms are slightly better then maybe his heart may not quite be with us. Just a hypothetical scenario. If he comes excellent, if not oh well move on to the next target.
But he has to be the no 1 summer target for that position!

Every player has a price especially in league two and two clubs are reportedly interested, do they want to keep a potentially unsettled player or bump up the offers by the interested clubs and get a deal done early in the summer to then set about rebuilding.

Will he submit a transfer request to signal his intentions?

If we have offered cash for him it would suggest that he is the priority target for Robins. And if we managed to get him I would expect us to at least make the playoffs. And it might help getting any other targets.
