I'm replying to LS... On the field its been terrible this season. Yes Thorn has had his hands tied but he has no idea when it comes to tactics.. The one system which is not working he keeps persisting in.

Thorn has engendered a tremendous team spirit which is doubly remarkable give that he has had to work under intolerable constraints led, as we are, by muppets.
Look at JUKE'S recent comments as evidence.
It is because of this some still entertain the possibility of escape this year. It would be an unbelievable achievment and a testament to his courage and stickability.
We know he only got the job because of circumstances and because SISU are clueless but given we are where we are Thorn is our only hope. Sticking by him is the least he deserves.

The squad that was barely good enough to stay up last term, loses it's only slither of quality - the backbone of Westwood, Turner, Gunnar and King, now added to by the loss of Jutkiewicz of course - and some people can still only find wisdom sufficient to blame the manager.

Because Juke came out and said he feels sorry for Thorn doesn’t mean he’s doing a good job.

Football is all about Tactics and winning games and he is hopeless at it.

Thorn is living off his honeymoon period of 8 games. This season has been abysmal. I like everyone feels sorry for Thorn but that doesn’t exclude him from criticism.

Thorn would rather lose a game 1-0 instead of going to win games.

He doesn’t deserve more time because we’ve given enough already. If only SISU could afford to bring in someone else then the majority fans would agree.

Most of us without necessity to use drugs to sedate the excesses of our cerebral cortex don't see him as great, nor the worst ever. We don't, perhaps see much good in what he does. Some folk, like me, might think he's a chap out of his depth in an untenable position.

haha - it’s called getting the best out of a bad bunch. Anyone would think Thorn is the only manager EVER to have no money. Plenty of other teams have managed to stay up in much worse situations.

Yes... plenty of teams. Scunthorpe stayed up the other year despite no money and an inexperienced manager. Donny as already mentioned. Palace in 2010, Plymouth in 2009 Barnsley 2008. Crewe and Brighton in 2005.

Those teams may not have been "rolling in money", but I don't recall them having their squads decimated in the way ours has been.

Realistically, taking players of the importance of Westie, Turner, Gunna, King & Juke out of a squad (with Crainie & Clingan also off soon?) was always going to lead to this outcome.

Personally I don't think we have had many "bad" managers and the majority have shown this at other clubs either before or after managing us. I just think since relegation the board(s) of our club have had neither the means or the willing to back the managers in the transfer market.

To be fair though, Juke has only been gone for one game.

Juke is (was) only our best player this year as we have lost the 4 listed before him. We have lost the better half of our first team. And we needed to improve the squad as it was. I said after the sale of those 4 we would get relegated if they were not replaced. Those who think otherwise are dreaming. Even Mourinho couldn't keep us up this year.

haha really? Debate of equals you say. Well I asked you a simple question about Thorn and what good as a manager he has done for the club. You twice reluctantly didn’t answer the question... why?

We have won 4 games all season. Scored a measly 20 goals from 26 games.

Yes i agree Thorn has had no backing from the powers that be but he still hasn’t done enough to convince me he’s right for the job. His tactics (Regardless of how much money is spent) are mind boggling at times.

His persistence in using the diamond is just ridiculous. It’s not worked first half of the season so why is he still using it now. His mentality of rather losing by the single goal and not going for it is not right now. We need wins not draws.

Playing too many players out of position. Take for example Gardener, an attacking midfielder and he plays at the bottom of the diamond. He was wasted there.

Yes i agree but Thorn does not get the best out of this team in my opinion.

I just wish fans would stop giving Thorn the sympathy vote and actually look at how bad a manager he is rather then looking at the bad situation we are in..

It was tongue in cheek because i feel Coleman was/is a better manager then Thorn.

But then you get daft comments from folk who fair enough say Thorn is a good manager but yet can’t back it up when asked why and what good he’s done.

Anyone could be a good manager if given all the tools, its what you do with lack of tools that make you a decent manager.

Look at Swansea, not spent vasts of money yet produced some good talent and under good managers previous and present have made themselves into a decent outfit.

There is nothing that particularly gives me confidence as I don't think he has had a chance all season of keeping us up. I don't think we would be bottom 3 if we hadn't lost the 1 natural goal scorer we had, Marlon King. If we could find someone who scores goals I think we could get out of it. (I don't think Juke was a natural goal scorer).

Can I ask who you would replace him with? Who would want to come to a team bound for relegation with no money to spend to turn things around?
