Robbie Simpson scored 1 goal in 29 games for Exeter last season, sounds right up our leafy lane....

Was it Best who "passed back" to the keeper after an injury stoppage and hit the crossbar?

You can also remove all of the players who were on loan from the long list. Ruffian stated it wasn't a player who had previously been on loan.

Didn't we see elsewhere that it's someone who played for us between 2007 and 2010? I felt underwhelmed by the thought of Leon Best coming back, if it turns out it's Robbie Simpson I'll be mortified.

Why do you consider Jeffers as unlikely?

After spells at Newport Peterborough and various loan spells he's gradually fallen down the leagues.

That said I've looked more into his past and I'd say it actually could be likely as he played in the national league south for Chelmsford and scored 21 league goals, Eastbourne are in that league and formally managed by Tommy Widdrington.
So he'd have a good idea of his current ability and if he could handle to step up and be better for the drops down the league to learn the arts...

My point exactly.

Even though it's all bollocks I'm playing along, I've taken away the loans as Ruffian said it's not one of them and got red ones are just not going to happen so I've narrowed down to 11.

Benjamin - Retired
Wilson - No chance

Mifsud - 36 and back in Malta, no way
Jutkiewicz - Wages
Sordell - Wouldn't drop this low surely

Baker-Richardson - possibly, I have no idea why we'd want him though
MAF - Possible but I hope not
Clarke- Harris - Maybe, would probably get a job in league 1 though
Jeffers - been doing well in non league and still quite young, I reckon most possible
Lobjoit - don't think so
O'Donovan - please god no
Nouble - free transfer might be an option
Miller - another one thats prob ok
Elliot - Unlikely, 33 and not doing well in Ireland
Simpson - 1 in 26 last season, why would we bother
Jackson - Didn't pull up trees at Walsall but possible

My point exactly.

I didn't realise he'd done so well this year.
Could prove to be a cost effective option to play on the right of the 3 even more so if Thomas leaves.
Can provide competition to vincenti also in that role.

Excellent point about Tommy Widdrington managing at Eastbourne whilst Jeffers was playing for Chelmsford. His success in front of goal would've no doubt caught his eye. However, I am inclined to agree with you. If he is a target of Robins, is Jeffers really the answer?

I'm never one to judge a player before he's pulled on the shirt, but considering goals were a significant issue for us last season I think I can speak for every Sky Blues fan in saying that I'd feel far more confident if an established League 2 goalscoring winger was bought in rather than a Non-League success that has been known to previously struggle in the Football League.

I'd say it would be the cost that would make him interesting to MR. He's got to assemble the best squad he can to play over 50 games with games Saturday/Tuesday most weeks.
He's gonna need a few budget players for every James Collins we hope to sign. He's gotta balance the squad.
I'd rather Jeffers on the wing as opposed to Kyle Reid. A player who'd likely jump at the chance back in professional football as opposed to a man falling down the league.

His stats are not great reading as he's only got 5 league goals in 104 appearances tho I'm sure a large portion of those appearances were substitute appearances.
However he's dropped to a level and found some form, but that was one season.
It's not a lot to read into but Tommy Widdrington would be the right man to cast that vote, not us.

We have to adhere to our restricted budget provided by the clubs' hierarchy, there's no getting past that unfortunately. Therefore, players such as Jeffers are integral to fill a squad - which you've previously mentioned. So, whilst his stats in the Football League aren't much to look at, it still could be worth taking a chance on him.

Couldn't agree more, I'd much rather Jeffers over a Reid. Judging from reports he is one of the highest earners at the club. So, deeming him surplus to requirements could mean two more players coming in. Which in turn would be crucial for the squad as a whole as strength in depth more often than not leads to a successful season.

From the list you would most likely think Jeffers or Nouble

This is probably a load of bollocks and I'm glad it is. Robins surely wouldn't go back to some of the tripe on that list. He'd be a fool if he did.
