I'd much prefer a player who's done it as this level before and a old fashioned target man but I'd not be writing Biamou off yet for giving goals.

I'm not writing him off, I just hope Robins has someone else lined up as well as I still don't think we have enough goals.

Disappointing but hardly surprising. Without selling Harries/Stevenson/Willis it's going to be very difficult to compete with those L2 teams with larger budgets than ourselves in the transfer market.

Yes our transfer pot may come too late in the day, however I'm sure he's got a list of possible players who he'd like to play that lead role.

Luton have been sensibly run in recent years and back on the rise. Can only say good luck to them after there troubled times.

I would expect the pot to arrive too late, its normally too late to spend and then seems to disappear

Would fit wouldn't it. Same day he must have heard Collins wasn't coming here. Wonder if Maxime was Robins' second choice.

I'd of imagined he'd of known for a few days if we wasn't likely to be matching Luton's offer.
I can see more players coming in the next 10 days or so so they make the trip to Spain and build/bond as a squad as me move to secure targets.
Answers also from Turnbull and Beavon, George Thomas and Ryan Haynes, cannot see MR wanting to drag out negotiations.

Yeah, sorry, that's what I meant. He must have known it was a possibility that we might not get Collins so had this Maxime lad lined up then when he heard today Collins was gone, swooped for the Sutton striker.

Bit of a downgrade. Surely he has someone else.

I'd imagine Friday the email came back Luton have offered higher than your 200k wanna another go?

But then possibly TW would of said to MR, remember that lad at Sutton I sent you that DVD about? The quick powerful one, scored 10 in the league 14 overall, he's keen.
Shall we get him in, then offer George another £300 a week on what we offered as a last chance offer and we wrap this up ready for Spain.
And don't forget we're meeting that explayer from a few years back that we cannot say about, MR X.
We can get him in too and job done, if not I no this young lad at Chelmsford....

We should see some movement over the next week before they go to Spain. If we get some attacking midfielders/wingers that can score goals then this Collins business may not seem so bad.

Exactly, and MR has worked at this level before and was a striker himself and is in a good position judge what he needs and if the player can do it.

It will all unravel shortly and a shame it's not looking like Collins

We all trust MR. If he thought collins was worth it he would have done his very best to get him. His recruitment is very good as we have seen by the signings we have made so far. We may not even need collins if players can be chipping in with goals here and there and mcnulty gets 20.

If he has 200k to spend on a striker there will be others of a similar standard we can go for. Would have loved Collins but plenty of other players out there.

I was just about to say that. The fact that he was even able to go after a player like Collins is encouraging. Should be able to get someone else decent in for that kind of money.

McNulty needs to play off a big man, which is exactly what Max is. When I read how the Sutton fans described him, he's good in the air, holds the ball up well etc. Hopefully they can forge a partnership and McNulty will find his scoring touch again.

You could say it works both ways, that people are 100% sure that he is the answer even though they haven't seen him play .

I do think that Collins would have been a decent signing, but I'm not ready to throw myself in the bath with the toaster if we don't sign him. 1 in 3 is a decent goalscoring return, but last season was the first time he's made it to 20 goals in a season, so he's not an absolute guarantee to fire us to promotion.
