I can't remember too much success in the way of free kicks for us. Joe Cole scored that peach and I remember Leon Best firing one through the wall away somewhere, was it Sammy Clingan who got a few as well?

Sammy Clingan was great at free kicks. Best we've had in a while.

I always liked Clingan. Completely unspectacular, but sometimes you just need a tidy calm player in the middle ticking it along.

Stephen Hughes away at Ipswich (we lost 4-1)

Clingan away at Preston and home to Leicester stick out in the memory

Danny Fox numerous occasions

Maguire's 2 vs MK Dons away

McSheffrey put a few away in his time

Shit, that Safri one is as close to perfect as you can get

Of course, Danny Fox! One of the few players we've had where I'd be almost expectant of a goal if we won a free kick.

Was at Pompey v Bournemouth yesterday. Baker ran the show for Portsmouth. Excellent use of ball playing centrally and slightly deeper now. Corner delivery was good too. Delivered with pace and never hit first man.
If it's true Baker wants back then he will be cut above anything in L2.

Most of us know that he would do a good job for us. But then you have those that said he was past it when he left us. He has done well since leaving but some hate to admit when they are wrong.

Said it before, think Mike Petrasso would be well worth having back if Baker is not on our radar (depends on whether he has fully recovered from long term injury he picked up in pre season last year though). He could set up a lot of chances for us on the break if his pace is still there...

Agree with Jackett. Looks good centrally so if he does come back he's not the answer to a wide man who can get to the byline...

‘We will see what happens with his future, we will see exactly how it goes but up to now he’s had a good pre-season.’

I wouldn't say it was time to call it a day

Maybe KJ is playing a clever game with Carl's future then by sending a message out that he's prepared to have him about the squad for the remainder of his year due to his range of passing and quotes playing him in a deeper more central role as he's not as quick as he was to be cutting in.

Sounds to me like if anyone wants him it's for a fee, as he's not gonna be paying up his contract to allow him to move on.
It's up to Carl to negotiate out his deal there for me to see anyway he's gonna end up here, and if he does it will be late on in the window.

I reckon we will need about 100 players in that position, Baker to have both his legs removed and then people might realise it's not happening ;)
