I did. I remember back then, Steve McMahon was on Talksport and was asked what had changed now that Liverpool had the title. He said the cars were no longer on bricks. The kids were putting them on encyclopaedias instead!

I am totally backing the bid. This is much bigger than just Coventry City FC.
Would be great for the city of Coventry itself and that's why I am backing it. We've so much flak and shit thrown our way and been derided at every turn. Be nice to have to something positive to say about the city for once.

Probably be neck and neck until the very last minute and then Nicky Summerbee will come along and kick Coventry's bid into touch.
During Sunderland's victorious celebration parade after they will hire a helicopter and a winch and will come down here, ripping Jimmy Hill's statue from its plinth and dumping it in the river Trent on the way back up.

Well maybe, but I was up in Manchester on Wednesday and some parts of that place are beyond shitty. Quite shocling. And also I have never seen so many beggars in my life in one city centre. No word of a lie there was one every 10-15 yards. Never seen anything like it.

the International festivals on isn't it with quite a large focus on homelessness, Maybe that's had something to do with it.
I agree though, Manchester is a dump but has a great town centre and night life. I'd hate to live there myself.

Hmmm, Swansea's not bad you know.
And tbh Coventry has enough about it - the Cathedrals, Holy Trinity's paintings, its links to mystery plays, being sent to Coventry, its role in the civil war, and then onwards to ribbon weaving, watch making, motor manufacturing, Larkin, two-tone...
There's actually quite a lot to be proud of culturally with Coventry, both physically and historically. Even if it doesn't win, it'd be nice to think that it'd encourage the council to properly fund its heritage and be proud of it.

I love Coventry, but giving anywhere on that list the title of city of culture is stretching it a bit. Then again, if Hull got selected..........

Wtf??? The only thing it has to do with Birmingham is that people from abroad may fly in to it, & those from the N & W travel through or around it to get to Coventry!!!

Yeah and funnily enough, I don't usually give money to beggars on the street, but have done so twice in the last week.
Also have to say, some of the beggars in Manchester were in such pitiful states. Really looked like they were on their last legs.
