For how they look alone, forget actually driving them:

First car I remember lusting over IRL, if just for the pop up headlights:

Then these three (in order: likely actual next car, ideal next car if I didn't have the kids, ideal car with kids)

My dad has an old Vauxhall Victor in his garage, needs a rebuild which I would do if I had time. Also gutted because he offered me a MK1 fiesta when I first passed my test 8years ago and evening a young driver it wasn't something that I wanted and considered it as damaging my reputation haha. So I said no and it got scrapped, I'm gutted because they are worth a fortune now and I would have loved to have drove it now. Maybe would have dropped a bigger engine in it. I suppose you live and learn.

It's easy to forget about the limited range though. 265miles and then you need a lengthy stop to re-charge.

Good luck if you want to go to Cornwall in your £80k car.

80% charge in about 40 minutes with one of their superchargers. Stop at Exeter on the way down... ;)

But in my £20k car I can go all the way on one tank of fuel :angelic:

Yep, I go to St Ives a lot, but always stop at Exeter Services for a cuppa. If the Tesla was £20K, I'd buy one :emoji_smiley:

Dunno about you, but I tend to stop on a long trip anyway. Only 45 min for a charge at a supercharger.

Besides, just rent a petrol car for the week with the cash you save on petrol. That's what most people do.

I liked the first version of the MR2, then of course they ruined it.
Same thing with lots of cars. The first version is great, then they have to make it bigger and more powerful and ruin the original concept.

Oh I don't know, thought the MK 2 was special too.

Horrible! Too many sharp edges. Cars should have curves - just like women. If you bumped into that car, you could cut yourself!

My Mrs usually gets me a supercar driving experience day for Xmas and I went the other week. Decided to drive the BMW I8 because I was curious, Ferrari California because I love the traditional front engined RWD set up and Coupe styling and the Audi R8 because it's one of the few I've never been in. Anyhow the I8 was impressive, the California is just a beautiful car in every way and the R8 is mental. Never really fancied the R8 as it's so ugly but what a driving experience. The expression corners like it's on rails should have been invented for this car. I'd have took home the Ferrari though.

The best handling car I ever owned was a Fiat X1/9. But it was a nightmare to maintain. Did not like the English weather. Acted up whenever it rained.

Went from a quattro audio to fwd, can really notice the difference especially in the rain. In that you could floor it whenever and it would go where you were pointing. Fwd it tries to spin when wet just pulling away :(

Here's a car I used to own years ago. A 1970 Sunbeam Stiletto.
It was a sporty version of the Hillman Imp with twin headlights and a souped up twin-carb engine. Rear-mounted engine of course.
Mine was red with a black vinyl roof just like this one.
It was a fantastic car but it liked to throw off the water-pump belts if you accelerated too quickly.

Agree with this. Had a 3.0L Quattro and when it came time to change, tried fwd audis. Rubbish in comparison.

This and the Audi Quattro of the same era are ace.
Both were developed from their highly successful Rally versions under homologation regulations. Would love an Integrale due to the very limited numbers so long as it wasn't plastered in Martini decals. Also LHD.

Cost a fortune to keep running, mind.

Bloke who used to live by me had a yellow one, it only came out to be polished and went back in again

Probably all it could manage ;)

Never had an Integrale, but had a couple of Lancias of similar vintage with turbos. Miss one like anything, only car I'd ever have back in a heartbeat...

But it cost me about three times its original cost in repairs and maintenance in the two and a half years I owned it!

Surely need to give it a blast every now and again? Each to their own but personally think most Italian performance cars look best in red.

One of the first cars I had was a Beta Coupe 2000 in a pale orange colour which turned to rust colour.....literally! Great shame as mechanically it was sound.
