Where are you? Back the lads! (2 Viewers)

Well it's the day before our first away game of the season and only 1250 sold at the last count.

We can take more than this surely, where is everyone? Where's the hundreds of "away days only for me" crew, the ones who refused to buy a new season ticket while sisu are here, claiming its away days only. We've likely 500 tickets spare for our first game after a positive opening day game, and another solid signing yesterday!

I'm not singling anyone out who cannot attend for various reasons personal to them and understand people will have good reasons like they are on holiday or just returned from holiday, or funds are tight I get that....
I'm in that boat more often than not myself juggling funds to try and follow us.

But surely with a fan base our size we can take 1800 to Grimsby. With all the summer waffle we will pack out away ends and L2 cannot handle a following our size, where is it.
No wonder Grimsby fans were mocking our following earlier in the week.

Come on let's back the lads, sell out our allocations, back up the claims sending a message out to the league and support Mark Robins team.

Give it time.

We are now in the school holidays. Money can be tight like you said. But also some still need to believe.

But on the other hand there is still more time to sell tickets. When we were guessing the attendance for the first game my guess was one of the highest at near 9,000. It was higher. We had the best attended game. Maybe our latest signing will sell more tickets. But considering where we are it isn't a bad start. I expect us to take at least 1,500.

3rd game in a week, still in the school holiday season, bad memories of how cold it gets for the away fans there, 70% of the allocation sold before the latest new signing, a 3.5 hour train/coach ride and i still think we'll get 1600. When Robins is spending his budget so wisely, I'd much rather have the extra 500 on the gate vs Newport. 1250 of the SBA will still outsing Grimsby ;)

Finally got a season ticket last week as I wasn't going to ,until there was a hint of being completive in the league , years gone by ,and there would be no question of missing this game , all would have been sorted , but the day we went to Northampton killed my city come first attitude , Some will say that's an excuse , and they are dam right it is , because , since then I need an excuse to follow city , not an excuse to miss a game, maybe if we have been in or around the top six at Christmas I may get the bug back , but at the moment its just not there , I think for a lot of people the feelings are the same

So you decided the early signings were not a PR stunt after all? :) Well done for getting a ST even if you're still not convinced. Genuinely hope you get the bug back.

1250 will be more than any other teams take this season!

I cant make them all so I cherry pick a little bit. Grimsby didn't look that attractive as a day out to me so fell in to the bottom half of clubs to visit. Sorry.

Lincoln will sell out there but I get your point I think it's a decent following!
Yes Luton the same as, but these are both teams on the up with momentum and a growing fan Base! Unlike us who are battered and beaten and divided in the ranks! A good run and a few back to back wins and I'm sure we'll sell out most away games.
Completely get the point the OP is making in the fact that we have so many people not turning up to the Ricoh saying "away games only" and then not bothering! Thing is he's missing the point, 90% of the people who say they're NOPM, are people that never went (or only made a handful of games a season) to begin with!

I've tried to buy a ticket a few times only to be presented with sold out on the website. I've been on nights though so hoping to have more luck today.

(Or until we get Arsenal away in the cup!)

Genuine question: would you really be happier if the big games had the same crowd? like if we only took 9k to Wembley and Old Trafford would it have been a better experience for you?

Personally, I like it when we pack the place out, so don't have a problem with people turning up for big games.

Just made me laugh at the time that people were never going again etc and then Arsenal was drawn and it was ohhh I'll make an exception.

I'd be happier if we could get that same atmosphere week in, week out! Not just once every 3 or 4 seasons!

I'd much prefer some of them stuck around for other games afterwards though. I still get annoyed at the "why do you support ccfc, they are shit", "why do you bother going every week", "can you get me tickets for the chelsea game", "are cov still shit every week then?", "dont bother going, come to the pub and watch the saturday game on sky its better", "can you get me tickets for wembley", "nah not going to bother coming to the cov game, waste of money and they arent playing anybody decent".

Yeah, it's a bit different when people come out with these spectacular claims and statements to try and prove their hatred levels and morals for them to vanish or for the goalposts to be moved.

Much easier for people to just say "the football has been shit", "im skint" etc etc rather than making themselves a martyr to go back on it.

I am sure the ones that go will get behind the team and I hope we get the result we wish for.
As we have been in the nostalgia mood recently I would like to add that even in the best days we would struggle to take this many to most venues.
Sometimes villa , yes West Brom, no Birmingham, yes QPR no west ham, yes Norwich and Ipswich, no leeds and Manchester or merseyside or the north east. Even Leicester was poorly attended on many occasions.
Well done to those that are going and see you next month.

What on earth is happening to the game when a 'Safety advisory group' feel the need to consult with police over a fixture like this???
I'd be really interested to know the reasons behind the decision.

Grimsby forum suggests Humberside police lack manpower to deal with big followings, on top of that Hull City are at home tomorrow (though it's only Burton).

Yeah seen that but why leave it so late...unless they have specific intelligence?

Another poster has suggested ringing Grimsby and a ticket can be organised and picked up, surely that would partly defeat the decision made...

bit harsh there mate......Its a twat of a decision with no forewarning......

As it happens, I personally did NOT plan to travel tomorrow, However in recent seasons I have often made my mind up on the day for away games.... Its quite possible a POTG for this, our first away game in a new division could have easily added another 200+ to the SBA.....

So I'd fully expect some outrage.......its a sorry reflection of the modern game (maybe modern life) that many many fixtures, even at our lowly level, cannot accommodate the simple principle of walk-up fans......

Pretty hard to back the lads steve when they take tickets off sale and have no pay on the gate.

They have been on sale for a while though ;)
I was playing it by ear as if I did go I would have to take my 4 year old with me. Some days he wakes up and brings instant joy to my life. Other days he's lucky to keep breathing till bedtime and I didn't fancy the ride all the way to Grimsby if it was the latter kind of day.

Your quite right, taken of sale this morning with the announcement at 10.

It looks poor on the safety side of things tho. I'm guessing it's police man power on why it's been done but what would they of done if we'd of already sold the 1800, would of been over stretched somewhat.

1350 the final total sold before there removal of sale.
