No More Signings Expected (2 Viewers)

Agree with the general consensus on here. The summer window seems to have been really well done.

One thing I will say though, why on earth do we have four goalkeepers? Surely one has got to go?

No, what I mean is I have seen him play the Doyle role for Rochdale lots of times and he can break up play and dominate the midfield should we need him too. He hasn't quite got that "do as your fucking told or I'll rip off your arm and twat you with it" look that Doyle has but more than capable of ruffling feathers if required.
Very happy to hear that. Didn't think he was that type of player.

I know some have said we need another CB and some have said another striker, but I am well happy with what we have got and if there is indeed cover for Doyle and Kelly, then perfect!!

I too think Kwame Thomas may well be loaned out. I think he is down the pecking order and too similar to Biamou. Ponticelli may well make the bench on a number or occasions.

I really don't understand why anybody thinks we'd sign any more players. We've got cover in every position. There is a lot of knee jerk stuff again about the midfield. Stevenson is more than adequate cover and the young players will improve. They were up against a high quality Blackburn midfield (players like Mulgrew are Championship level).

Exactly. Who would we sign as a cover player? A player whose not going to be a regular in league two is by definition going to be poor.

The average age of the team now is much higher. We've got plenty of players.

Kwame Thomas is a really bizzare member of the squad.

It wasn't even the telegraph who got his signing information wrong, but actually the club website that said he was a loan when in fact he was a permanent signing.

Then you have the injuries, and the periodic disappearances from the squad. Seems a little strange...

When he gets injured it always looks like it's a minor thing on first viewing, but he then seems to be out an age.

We could change the system if needed in midfield as well. 442, 4141, 433 all only need one DM.

I think between Vincenti, Stevenson, Andreu, the defenders, and the kids we will be OK. In an ideal world we’d have a ready made player in the same mould as Doyle and Kelly, but it’s not like we’ve got no one. And should one of them get seriously injured there’s the Jan window to replace for the second half of the season.

That would make sense. O'Brien with a back up and a youth goalie is just about alright.

We are meant to have another good young keeper coming through aren't we? Think his name is skuza? Was talked up by one of the previous managers, and has warmed up with the keepers on match days before.

There's some decent kids too, I know Shipley didn't have the best of games the other night but he's a big fella and playing with a few older heads around him other than Tuesday night I have hopes he could be okay, if the fans give him time that is.

in his defence he plays a team that kept the ball so well(not surprising considering their manager) and they pressed well too so shipley was under pressure alot. that said he still messed up passes when he had time lol

i expect him to do better vs league 2 teams

I would still like cover at CB Willis, McDonald & Pearson all prone to injury probs.
Hyam??

That's where I think somebody like Vincenti or Andreu would slot in.
They're not the same sort of players - you need a nasty git in that role not a playmaker

Fair enough really. Still think a Championship club may come in for Stevenson.
As I said to my mate sat next to me at the Blackburn game, if Brentford had anyone there they'll be breathing a sigh of relief they didn't spunk £1.5m on Stevenson, very poor.

Two things, Firstly, I agree with one GK going, on loan I would assume.
Secondly, don't call me Shirley.

I think the squads looking quite reasonable for a minimum of 2 players for each position with some even able to cover multiple positions for added depth even without adding too many of the kids like Cramwell and Ponticelli and even leaving RCC out.

---------------O'Brien----------------
---------------Burge-----------------

Grimmer--Hyam---McDonald---Stokes
DKE-----Willis----Pearson----Haynes

----------Doyle------Kelly-----------
----------Maycock---Stevenson----

--Vincenti-----McNulty------Nazon---
----JJ---------Andreu-------DKE---

---------------Beavon----------------
---------------Biamou----------------

Is Maycock a definite CM?

Yes, and better than Shipley from what I've seen of him. I really think we must have one of the most robust squads in the league now and with plenty of space for loan players should we need them, there won't be any of the nonsense of rotating the loan players in the squad or any missing out as we have too many as has happened in previous years. I think Robins and Widders have assembled the correct tools for the job now. It's all down to execution now and I trust Robins to get that right. Else we'll soon be organising his execution.

Happy with no more coming in. I'd rather be in a situation where we need to throw our youngsters in as cover rather than bring in hit and miss loan signings who we are obligated to put into the first team.

I'd quite like to see RCC out on a long term and Ponti on a short term loan now - just a couple of months somewhere he might start some games.

............Reverend Skyblue...aka the goal machine...../

Take notice from the above list that we have more than enough cover up front now with the latest unannounced signing.
Ive heard he's bloody good as well

I'd like to see Dion KE tried in a CM role in the Checkatrade competition
I think he's got all the attributes to play there long term and he has great role models at the club to learn from in Doyle and Kelly

Interesting... I'd never thought of that. First reaction is I don't think he'd have the technical prowess for the job.

That said, Doyle has had a fine career and technically he's not great.

I had the same thought about Devon tbh. They both are combative and mobile enough to give it a go. Maybe we go with the twins in the middle together in the checkatrade. Weird teams out a bit.

Definitely especially Ponti he needs goals against teams of men.
RCC needs to be playing as a fringe player as goalie you are screwed

You'd assume Addai will be playing reserve games and Robins seems to prefer Burge over RCC so, assuming he's keeping O'Brien in as first choice, Burge will be on the bench. No point keeping RCC around doing nothing. Problem might be has it been left too late. Will RCC want to drop to non-league? He's already done a non-league loan spell.

If I was him I'd be a bit pissed off at the moment. He came in and set a record for clean sheets, was first choice and played all but the first two group games in the Check a Trade and then gets dropped for the final. Bit surprised he hasn't banged in a transfer request.
