I don't know, but if that were the case you would have thought they would have given
Us less tickets in the first place, if that's what they do in that respect.
Yes that's what I though. Unless they got intelligence saying some were intending on paying on the gate and causing trouble.

Have we got a large hooligan element, it's news to me.
I thought we had a few numbskulls like every other team, but not a actually hooligan factor anymore.
God just go and watch a footie game, have a fight somewhere else like a bunch of immature school kids and leave the footie to proper fans

They like to come out now and then for the "big" games. Every club has their fare share of idiots.

A Grimsby fan has said there was a rumour of a large Coventry hooligan contingent ever since this fixture was announced. I haven't heard anything. Has anyone else? Surely this can't be the reason for no pay on the gate.
We haven't got a large contingent let alone a hooligan one! Why on earth would there be trouble, is there some history I'm missing out on? I can't even remember when there was last major trouble at one of our games.

but the fixture was announced in June - can't see how stopping selling tickets the day before the game is going to make any difference. And is their intelligence only gettinq wind of it now?

Their supporters are also unhappy about it. It should have been one of their biggest home games of the season.

So if it is about hooligans why sell us so many tickets? How do they stop them from travelling? They can't. So it is nothing but a rumour. More like the police can't cope. Thousands of tourists and thousands of football supporters at the same time. And we have to pay for their inadequacies.

Couldn't they have got some Midlands police to help the local force?

I heard the game was upgraded to a cat B game for policing which meant policing required and in the ground with steward's.

This meant a large bill was coming Grimsby's way, I think they appealed to the council, and other relevant groups and they rejected the old bill pulling ticket sales.

You would think it wouldn't stop the hooligans and they would arrange to meet up for trouble either way?

I didn't think we have much of a firm? This is the first time in years that this has happened hasn't it? Seems weird.

A safety advisory group is usually made up of several bodies including the police.

Our's has a member of the Trust board. I get the impression their fans will be more than accommodating in the home end. Go anyway.

Treat people like budding hooligans and they'll act like them. Christ's sake it's Grimsby v Cov in the 4th division, what do they think is going to happen?
