Just about to post that mate, clears it up
Offences and sanctions

If, when a free kick is taken, an opponent is closer to the ball than the required distance, the kick is retaken unless the advantage can be applied; but if a player takes a free kick quickly and an opponent who is less than 9.15 m (10 yds) from the ball intercepts it, the referee allows play to continue. However, an opponent who deliberately prevents a free kick being taken quickly must be cautioned for delaying the restart of play.

Firstly thank you to the guy who put tyou tube live on page 8. I was checking the thread and was able to watch the second half in Riyadh.
My observations were that we were on the front foot the entire half, we had the ball taken off the players toes in good positions and there was a couple of tackles that could have been penalties.
We were very good at probing around the area and always seemed to have players available. To me this is the opposite of last season where too often there were no options up top.
Vincenti's first touch is dreadful, everything seemed to bounce off of him today.
The midfield duo were horrible to play against, neat and tidy, tackles and passing, winding up the opponents. Oh it reminded me of Dennis Wise.

So the 10 yard thing isn't important, its all about whether Clarke has actually taken the free kick or not.

Whether you think his intention was to take the free kick or to give it to the keeper to take. Either way its a cock up and sloppy from Clarke, its why most of the time you will now see defenders either leave the ball completely for the keeper to collect for the free kick or they will pick it up and roll/throw it back to the keeper.

Mcnulty was completely right to do what he did. Clarke came up to the stationary ball, dummied to take the free kick long and then checked back and passed it to the keeper, what ever his intention was Mcnulty was right to go for it.

Also the ref should have booked Clarke for blatant cheating, he played the pass and then tried to deceive the officials by claiming he gave it to the keeper to take!

Maybe Vincenti is a confidence player and it's been knocked by the unnecessary criticism on Twitter last weekend.
From what I saw there was a different game plan to last week and we didn't utilise the height from GK'S kick like last week.

I understand what you mean but to really simplify your Q it's whether he kicked the ball with his foot or not...which he did. That's the end of it really isn't it!

Pretty sure he put his hand on the ball prior to kicking it too, although they didn't think so on CWR

'And so here it is, just like Christmas, Marc McNulty jumped the gun. Look to the future now, Slade will soon be gone

As per usual, Pete, as per usual.

You absolutely SURE God exists? ;)
Hey I get some things right - don't I? Oh shit maybe I don't

Thanks to the chap on page 8 for link.

Only caught second half. Thought we looked a good team. Worlds apart from last season. You can tell there's a lot of 'clever' players on squad now who know how to grind out results.

Vicenti is a weird one, looks like a dopey giraffe running aboit but does get into good positions and is a threat. Will likely be effective in this division but not in leagues above.

Think we'll improve and if stay clear of many injuries we will do well

Fuck me Nick.

We have won every home game so far. We have won every away game so far. What does it take to make you happy?
I was asking as we haven't won one for months, am very happy. Asking a stat doesn't change that ;)

There is only one stat that matters. 100% win rate all season and the only club to do so :smug:

Pretty sure it was October last year under Venus.
Did we really not win one under MR?
Anyway does Wembley count?
It does for me! B-)

Second half we completely dominated the game .
You could clearly see there was a difference in quality between the 2 sides .
Very good start to the season

It was a good performance today, from about 35 minutes we dominated the game, and could have scored more. I thought Vincenti did ok, always taking the ball, and passing it on. Didn't hide when things didn't go right. Lot of confidence in the crowd and on the various forums, understandable, but it is early days, 44 tough games to come.

I think someone once drew a penis on a picture of Jeremy Clarkson down in Ealing Broadway tube station.

That too was a dick on a dick.

Iwelumo reckons the issue was the free kick wasnt taken in the right place. Everyone's making up reasons for it not to stand!! Or trying to Atleast!

I thought Clarke was the player who was fouled so he'd have been better positioned than anyone to know where it happened?

vicenti isnt an eloquent player and he can be frustrating but hes an imoortant part if how weve been playing and should of had a stonewall penalty.
I hope the ref wakes up to find an invasive parasite lodged in his ball sack.

Don't quite get that. He talks about lining up with the assistant referee, but the assistant in question isn't in that picture and is on the other side of the pitch and the blind side to the camera, so how would Iwelumo know where the other assistant is?

I thought it was harsh on grimsby for the free kick. He clearly points at the goal keeper to take the free kick and then passes it back to him.

It was laziness and over confidence but yes it was pretty clear what he was trying to do.

Rules are rules...he kicked the ball....

The highlights don't show the foul but.

The ball is in basically on the spot of the foul. I think the main part of why the goal stood was Clarke dummies to take the free kick before changing his mind and then he made the ball live by kicking it back to the GK. If the GK was going to take it he he did not need to touch the ball.

A basic mistake has cost them the goal. I'm not sure why some of there fans as so salty and calling our players cheats. You play to the whistle

I'd say he gestured at the keeper to wait there and then kicked it to him, imo he took the free kick and passed it to the keeper but it was a shit pas

That's how it looked to me. Telling the keeper it was coming back to him for an upfield punt, stay put. He just made a complete balls up of it then kicked up a fuss to hide his blushes.
