There's a lot of confidence on this thread and people suggesting a drubbing is on the cards come Saturday, personally I don't see it.

A few people have also chirped up to say we're shite - I can assure you we're not, and I have a feeling that there'll be a mass order of humble pie being delivered to Coventry come 5 o'clock Saturday.

Should be a good game - Odds on the away win are generous.
It would be good for a decent game with some atmosphere. Any idea at your end how many you've sold? I live in Bristol so if you see a smug git waving on the M5 home then that's me (providing we don't lose of course).

The reason we appear so confident is just the quality in our play for the first couple of games. We don't seem to have got out of 2nd gear yet and easily dispatched teams that won their other game comfortably. We've only let 1 shot on target against us so for ffs. Nouble will inevitably score against us though so I'm going for a 2-1 home win. Hard fought, give us something to think about but hopefully keep the ball rolling.

Like I said on another thread, I don't think you belong in the lower divisions and wish you all the best in getting back up but this league is a funny one.

You can beat the better teams in the league and then lose to the Morecambe's of this world.

We've vastly improved on last season, have been scoring plenty of goals and look good going forward - confidence is high, I just fancy us to get a result Saturday as we usually play well in the bigger games.

It should be interesting, we did seem to struggle with Blackburn's shape of 5-3-2, as their wingbacks always had space. That was, however, a second string side against a team with a lot of quality.

This is the kind of game we've got to be winning if we want promotion this year, it's at home against a side expected to come bottom half. Our defence has been promising so far and I think we've got the quality for, hopefully, another clean sheet. But, I can see Nouble scoring...

Aside from Saturday and the return fixture, I wish Nouble and Newport all the best for the season.

Jeez, this is a hard one to predict. Too many false dawns to be positive, too much blind hope to be negative. I'll go for a nervy 1-1.

I wouldn't say a few said your shite, just the one. I think we have a right to be confident with our start, and the fact we are at home. I think we will win not easily but comfortably

I still want to wait until we are 10 games in before jumping on the 'we're gonna trash the league bandwagon'

Who has said that? Not seen anyone say it myself. All I have seen is people saying that it has been said or they wont join a bandwagon that hasn't got a band or a wagon.

I wouldn't say we disposed of Grimsby effortlessly....we had a 1 in a million clanger for the first goal and then a header from a corner.

Didn't exactly tear them apart. Don't get me wrong we were the better team, but a reality check is needed.

Before the goal we should've had a penalty and 3 or 4 times we got behind their defence and in dangerous positions but we just got the final ball wrong. After the first half an hour id say we tore them apart, for once I wasn't nervous about conceding. As mentioned they didn't register a shot on target. I also felt that we had another gear and we would've pressed harder for the win if we needed to

But both Notts county and Grimsby looked really poor to me.
Both clubs won their other game by 2 goals and got a total of 5 goals. But they only managed 1 shot on target between them against us.

Did they look poor against us because we are good?

Are we average, they are poor and the clubs they beat even worse?

Are we shit, they are shitter and the clubs they beat even shitter still?

Nobody has said we will finish 1st. Nobody has even said that we will finish in the top 3. But from what we have seen so far the possibilities are there. Are there 7 clubs better than us?

Our aim should be to go for the top 7 and take it from there. What we have learned is that nobody is unbeatable. We are the only club with a 100% record after only 2 games. Why shouldn't we have a little confidence?

Part of me thinks we will 'do a Cov' and draw this, but then the other part of me remembers we have Jodi Jones who will continue to run riot every week.

This game has 0-1 or 0-2 written all over it. You know what we're like.

Well....only the deluded

I have seen it said that we have a good chance or that we should. Not that we will and it is a serious comment.

I am one of those who thinks we have a good chance. To get into the top 3 we need to average nearly 2 points a game, 2 goals a game and about 1 against us. If we lose our next game 3-1 we will still be on target. If we draw our next 2 games we will still be on target. Win just one of the next two and we will be above it.

Would any of the doubters like a charity bet? I say we will win at least one of the next 2 games. I'll give odds of 2/1.

Come on City, do your stuff. I've a silly £5 bet at 150/1 that we will remain undefeated at home all season.

After our positive start i should be riding high on confidence for another win but i just can't shake the nagging sky blue pessimism. All i keep thinking is when did we last win 3 games on the spin? Did Robins manage that in his first stint? In an effort not to be totally negative i'm going to say 1-1 bore draw.

@Newport apologies if it's already been mentioned but how come you have played your first three games away from home? And the cup tie V Leeds is being reversed?
They have 2 rugby teams also using the pitch. It is being relayed and they can not play at home on it until September.

Let's just get a win for this one. £10 free Sky bet at 8/1 on us winning first 3 games. Obviously will be badly let down........

I said 9000ish for the first game and will go with the same sort of crowd again.

Can see Newport battling a little more than Notts or Grimsby so although I think we'll win I reckon it will be more difficult than the first couple of games.

It takes ages for the games to come round when you're doing well. Last season I dreaded Saturday afternoon but now I'm counting down the days like Christmas.

I still think it would be foolish to write off Newport county at this stage of the season or any any time. L2 don't work like that, and they've had a reasonable start to the season scoring 4 league goals and 6 in all competitions.

This game has the potential to be the banana skin that welcomes us to life in League two. Sure we've started well but as I've said this side has questions to answer that have yet to have been asked of them. It's fare to say we've had the rub of the green so far in the league and yet to be on the end of a day when nothing is going your way.
We've the right characters in the side to try and pull us through them days/nights but proof is in the pudding and points on the board.

A few more games playing the way we're playing and picking up results, that will give a better indication of us as a complete side.

no one is being foolish, some are just confident of a win. i dont think it will be a thumping as newport clearly have firepower, but i think we will win.

at what point will you be foolish to tell us stop being foolish about league 2 i wonder? after all we are above mansfield luton and lincoln and have 100% win streak

We're 2 games in after a great start, however "let's see where we are after 10 games"

Hopefully on that winning streak still.
