I think Vincenti will keep his place, but do agree on the Beavon/Andreu switch.Andreu in for Beavon, and Nazon may get the nod over Vincenti... No need for any knee jerk reactions!
Going for a win here, break the mold of drawing this fixture!

We're yet to hit goal scoring form tho have been very resilient defensively.
Let's hope we find that killer touch...
Yet to hit goal scoring form, we've scored 5 in our first 3 games what more do you want? Id take that form over 46 games, we'll walk the league if we continue to score 5 every 3 games.

Teams coming to the Ricoh and playing like Newport is fine. Had we been able to do the very simple thing of passing 5 yards to each other with enough regularity against them I think we would have won the game.If we'd scored early v Newport it would have been an entirely different game imo
Credit to Newport for the way they defended but I suspect (hope) we learned a lot from that game. As it wore on the penny dropped for us especially after Robins made the changes
We will see a lot of teams come to the Ricoh this year trying to play like Newport so we'll have to get used to it
It'll be a different story away as home sides are usually obliged to attack and we have the players to make things happen on the break

They frustrated us, but it was our own ineptitude that cost us the game. Get that right we'll be fine.

You're right. I think the passing was much better after the changes and had their keeper not played so well we would have got something
Very different to last year
Ok I'll break it down... JJ had a wonder game getting 3, McNulty was alert and got lucky with his gift of a goal and Grimmer scored from a corner.
Yes it's 5 goals on paper but break it down it's nothing prolific yet is it and JJ isn't gonna do that every few games. We've not exactly missed a hatful of chances. Only 3 players to have scored, yes it's still early so I'm not to despondent but we're far from firing at the minute.

You're trying to argue against facts. It doesn't matter who scored and how, to say "were yet to hit goal scoring form" is just false. We scored 5 in the first two games and then had a game where things just didn't click against a team who parked the bus for 35 mins.
2 changes for me...
---------------O'Brien---------------
Grimmer--Willis---McDonald--Stokes
----------Doyle(c)----Kelly-----------
--Vincenti-----Andreu------Nazon--
--------------McNulty-------------
Subs: Burge, Pearson, Hyam, Stevenson, JJ, Thomas, Beavon.
I'm not arguing anything....
You were but now you've backed down.
I hope we hit our goal scoring form where we score 80 in a season, not one player can score more than 2 in a game, no headers are allowed and if its an oppositions mistake then it doesn't count. That's my kind of goal scoring form.
I ain't backing down in anything.
My opinion still stands. You disagree, that's your call and your in your right to on a opinion based topic.
But look at it from another way. There's calls for Beavon to be dropped and McNulty to be pushed forwards to enhance or chances of goals. Andreu to be put in because there is concerns we're lacking creativity. If everything is going so well why would some sections be looking to make changes.
To me we're yet to hit some attacking form and also true goal scoring form where we look dangerous on every attack.
Maybe not, but if we could go into games knowing we won't concede, and if we do it'll be no more than 1 goal, that takes a lot of pressure off the team. So far, we've played well defensively minor 1 goalkeeping howler - on a positive note, we kept Nouble quiet who was in a hit of form. Defensively, I'm still very happy, 4 goals on target in 3 games is a great return. We had incredible attack under Pressley, but for all the goals we scored, we were never completely safe from a comeback. The goals dried up, and our form dipped.
I'm not too concerned about attack this year per se. I've had a look at the last 4 seasons very briefly and one thing struck me the most: if you concede less 46 goals in a season, you are guaranteed a playoff spot (bar one team). Often the best defence gets in and around the top 3. As noted many times on this forum, the top goalscorer of 2 of the top 3 didn't hit 15 goals. Also, I'll bring your attention to this interesting example in the 14/15 season, Cambridge scored 61 goals - more than Bury, who came 3rd (60) - yet came 19th. In fact, they scored 6 and 8 goals less than the top 2. The difference? Amazing defence, the top 2 had incredible records defensively (39 and 31 conceded).
My point is: defence appears to be the most important ingredient in a L2 promotion team. So our defence is key, not attack.
I've been thinking the same for a while. My only worry is when was the last time a CCFC team was solid and dependable at the back, I can't remember one. Even Robins' first time around we shipped loads of stupid late goals.Maybe not, but if we could go into games knowing we won't concede, and if we do it'll be no more than 1 goal, that takes a lot of pressure off the team.
