Yes. Dec 1983 - April 1986.Waterbeach?
I went to Cambridge late last year and pubs in the city centre are few and far between! There is a long road that goes into the centre that has a few that are OK, can't remember what the road name though. There's an Irish owned pub called the Earl of Derby not far from that station that is friendly and does a decent pint and fry ups, but out of the centre. Actually, that road into then is Regents something I think.
Thanks for the info mate! @Earlsdon_Skyblue1 any ideas on the road name?
That's funny @Earlsdon-Loyal-Blue - I thought you would be at Grimsby watching their game against Yeovil Town!
I lived in Cambridge for 3 years, about 4 years ago when I was a student. There are so many pubs in that city so you won't be short of finding one. I don't know if any of them that ban away fans though, so it might be worth a quick bit of research.
The main drag from the station into town takes you from Hills Road onto Regent Street. The Prince Regent itself is a nice pub, but small. The Grain & Hop Store used to be a sports pub which was great some years ago, now I believe it is just a smart pub/bar. Go further down and you have the Regal (apparently the biggest Wetherspoons in the country). That's probably a good one to try, but it might be worth pretending you're not from Coventry depending on their door policy. I have spent many drunken nights in there...
There is also a Revolutions bar and tons of places to eat, so you shouldn't be hungry. You might as well head into town when you arrive as the station is a bit out of the way in the other direction from the ground, and it's worth it to see a nicer place on an away day than somewhere like Port Vale... If you can't get in anywhere just get some tinnies from Tesco Express and head out onto Parkers Piece if it is a nice day.
FYI: The stadium itself is quite a walk away from town. About half an hour, maybe slightly more when pissed, from The Regal. If you do want a stop on the way, the pubs really close to the ground are fucking awful, but some around the Grafton Centre, or Anglia Ruskin University (depending on which way you walk) can be nice. I can recommend The Tram Depot, The Snug, The Hopbine, or The Clarendon Arms. Any of them will break up your walk a bit.
Would have loved to go but we have a fixture again... Let's hope we can beat them this time. My understanding is that they aren't as good as last year either. They lost Luke Berry to Luton, and no matter what people say, Ikpeazu is fucking awful (but bound to score now)!
Cheers mate. Any of them got a juke box and pool table set up?
can someone just confirm what Cambridge station is nearer the ground as they have two, I cant be arsed to check.
I hope the atmosphere is better than Chesterfield where there was an unpleasant edge.
Thought the atmosphere was one of the worst at an away game for years, hardly any singing yet a decent turnout. Performance didn't help but it just felt a bit weird. Didn't see any trouble myself and only heard about the Fisher incident at the station.Guess will reach 1200ish...and yes there was, too many troublemakers there.
Anyone know if it will be pay on the gate Saturday? Half considering driving over.
I think we had sold around 900 this morning so I imagine a few sales first thing tomorrow after this win. Not sure we'll sell out but hopefully around 1400.
That's initial allocation. For large away followings part of the south stand is given too. I guess if we sell out possible pay on gate in south stand.Allocation is 1400

Will be staying there Saturday into Sunday for the game.Yes. Dec 1983 - April 1986.
I hope we sell out, but we only took 745 there in the fa cup last season so could be a big ask
Yeah we're on the 08:52 from Nuneaton.Anybody travelling on the train from Nuneaton or Leicester?
A lot of the tickets would have been pre-booked in fairnessThat was a week or two after Oxford away - to take 745 so soon after that is remarkable!
Yeah we're on the 08:52 from Nuneaton.
Same train as me, I'll be getting on at Lesta
Have you got any previous connection with the beach?Waterbeach?
Will be staying there Saturday into Sunday for the game.
Me and my Brother are going Saturday hoping to POG but we are traveling from the east coast,I've got two spares again due to dropouts if anyone is interested.

If you still have them and are willing to meet us in pub before the game, we would be happy to
Pay you face value + a beer or 2
Yes, but not in the same way that you do. We have family there, not far from the station.Have you got any previous connection with the beach?
