Burge - 6 - He didn't really have anything to do, his kicking is much better though again
Stokes - 6 - Again, didn't really notice him much.
McDonald - 6 - Taken a point off because they should have had a pen.
Willis - - 6 - Not sure whether it's a good thing but I didn't notice him too much
Grimmer - 6 - Not one of his best games, like saturday wasn;t :(

Doyle - 8 - Got a goal and played the dark arts well when their player was stood on him so an extra point for that.
Kelly - 7 - Breaks down the play well, plays simple passes and controls the tempo.

Jones - 7 - Quite a quiet game, still greedy in some parts but decent play for the Doyle goal and another cross he put across the box.
DKE - 6 - A bit more quiet

Duck - 7 - Extra point for the goal, battled well through the game and just needs a bit more fitness.
Biamou - 7 - Won a hell of a lot in the air as well, always manages to direct them into the path of one of our players so people need to gamble on it and make runs.

We need more work from one of Biamou or Duck, they need to drop into midfield when we lose possession a bit. That wank ifollow app only allowed me to watch 10 minutes or so early second half, Kelly was excellent in that time.

In fairness, they both seemed to be running their arses off but think they will need a few games for fitness.

I think if Biamou keeps up the performances, builds up his fitness and maybe gets a goal he will cement his place as a starter to play along Duck, McNulty and maybe even Ponticelli.

Kelly was my man of the match today. Doyle will get the plaudits for the goal and the red card but Kelly was immense, breaking up play, playing pinpoint passes and getting box to box more. He's a really complete midfielder for this level. And he's only 27!! despite looking older than Doyle!

Thought burge deserves a 7 at least. Commanded the box well and had no chance with the goal. Grimmer was only player who deserves less than a 7. Rest a 7 with Kelly motm

Burge - 6
Could be higher but the sort of performance I’m starting to expect from him. No mistakes again but not a lot to do.
Grimmer - 6
Can get caught out at times and a couple of wayward balls but is a league 2 defender and is always an outlet down the right.
Willis - 6
Tempted to mark him down as a couple of time he tried to clear the ball but smacked (or headed) the ball straight up in the air again. Glad he’s not captain anymore.
McDonald - 8
Who sold their soul to get him on a free, great defender. Never worried when he comes for the ball and, apart from his red card, always seems to be ahead of whoever he’s playing. Great positional awareness. I hope he’s here for years as, at the moment he seems like a future captain.
Stokes - 5
Not the player of the season before last. Everything dangerous from Swindon came from his side of the pitch. Would like to see Haynes back ASAP to try and push him on.
Doyle - 8
Goal and won a red card. Master of the dark arts and someone you’d hate to play against. His fitness for his age is immense.
Kelly - 8.5 MoM
Was everywhere. Really settling into the box to box midfielder role. Good forward passing and did well to break up play. Could see us have conceding again at the end without him.
DeKE - 6
Would be a lower mark if he was a seasoned pro. Not a great game and seemed to be running into cup de sacs. Worked hard at stretching the game though.
Jones - 6
Quiet night by his stellar standards this season. We won 2-0 without a goal from him though.
Nazon - 7
Great finish. Works hard but seems to drift in and out of games. Good to see him keep on at defenders though. May seem like an unproductive player but his goal stats are starting to speak for themselves.
Biamou - 7.5
Won everything that came his way, was isolated at times so things didn’t always come off but you can’t blame him for that. Could have won a pen but should have put the first chance of the game away. Great to see him starting to prove the people who wrote him off after 20 minutes game time wrong.

Robins - 7
Players really starting to buy into what he’s doing and results are working. Maybe changes could have been made earlier but the right team was put out and they did a great job.

Ref - 2
Somehow each week the standard of refs keeps slipping. Minimum 1 guaranteed pen. Should have had 3 off and tried to make up for it by making equally dediculous calls in the middle of the pitch.

Some harsh ratings above.

Burge: 7 - not too much to do, but won every ball he needed to.

Grimmer: 6 - just seems to lack the confidence to go forward at times.

Willis: 7 - one of many warrior like performances. Few dodgy clearances.

Rod: 9 - What a warrior. Brilliant signing.

Stokes: 6.5 Pretty sound, still seems to be off the pace of last year.

Devon: 6.5 - Offers way more going forward than Vincenti. Close to scoring a cracker with his weak foot in the second half.

Kelly: 9 - Outstanding performance. Was everywhere.

Doyle: 9 - Tough away games like tonight are why we signed him. Battled for everything.

Jones: 7 - Probably lowest rating of the seasons, yet he still got an assist. Got very little protection of the ref, but plowed on. Love this lad. A real gem.

Duck: 7.5 - Was a handful and his goal was superb. The passion this lad has for playing football is admirable. Could go down as one of the most loved city players ever.

Biamou: 7.5 - he looked a lot better than any of his previous appearances. Won a lot more in the air than before and caused problems in the first half. Was hacked down in the opening minutes and the Swindon man should have been off.

Referee: 1 - A shambolic performance. Lacked bottle from the first minute. 2 clear penalties not given and a straight red early on. He even had to ask the linesman about the sending off. Truly woeful.

Burge 7 - couldn't really fault him for the goal, did everything else right.
Grimmer 6 - just a game, really.
Willis 6.5 - couple of questionable clearances, didn't seem as sure of himself in this game for some reason.
McDonald 7 - another pretty good game. Can't help but wonder if things last season would have been slightly different had we had someone like McDonald in the centre of defence instead of Turnbull...
Stokes 6 - I know he's had his share of injury problems, but he's playing a lot older than 26. It seems like every week people have pointed out that he seems off the pace. I hope it's just down to injury and fitness.
Kelly 7.5 - had him down as my MOTM. Was all over the park (in a good way) and was pretty good on, and with, the ball.
Doyle 7.5 - a solid performance. Gets an extra half a mark for the goal (I can't believe it was him who had the awareness to make that run into the area, some of our strikers should take notice) as well as some magnificent....erm, "off the ball" work
Jones 7 - not as integral tonight as in pretty much every other game this season, but still involved in the first goal. The fact we won away, and scored two goals, without him being as devastating as in previous weeks has got to be a good thing.
Devon 5.5 - not a great outing for the lad after the high of Saturday. Never really got into the game other than flashes here or there. Still, I think he (or at least someone like him) gives us something different as compared to when we play with Vincenti in the same role. At least we know we have a Plan B for if the Vincenti-as-winger thing isn't working.
Nazon 7 - stunning goal, reasonable performance otherwise. I can accept someone who drifts in and out of games (and I agree that that is a perfect summation of Nazon) provided they can produce moments of quality like that.
Biamou 7 - thought it was a pretty decent outing for someone who was written off after his first substitute appearance. Won plenty in the air and was a threat early on. Like Saturday, probably should have scored. Honestly, with all due respect to Stuart Beavon, I would have Biamou in the team before him at this point.

None of the subs were on long enough to really have an impact or get scored. Was nice to see McNulty back from injury, even if I was doing the whole cliched BRING ON THE PONT thing for the last ten minutes

First time I have missed away at Swindon in a long time. So had to listen on iFollow. How the heck am I supposed to give ratings after listening to them two clowns?

But what a game to listen to. End to end for once with us on top. What a game to miss.

Checked out what their supporters had to say. This was my favourite comment

'Worldly goal that 15 men wouldn't of stopped.'

Looks like Robins and Doyle certainly had a plan. They were saying about how poor their defence is. We went on the attack most of the game. And the player that got sent off sounds like a liability to them. Doyle knew who to aim at.

Much happier now. Not for the win but that we can attack instead of controlling the midfield and relying on Jones to so something. Maybe now we can attack the lower down teams and not lose to them. We certainly know we can beat anyone in this Division.

Opposition supporters seem to think that we will be at or near the top all season. That will do me.

Last thing. Well done lads. You sounded great last night for a midweek away game.

How are you rating McDonald the same as grimmer?
Grimmer was poor I think, McDonald was solid all game regardless of the pen he nearly game away. Is that the one where he blatantly pushed someone over as they went to head the ball? Certain goal otherwise I reckon. Was worth the chance

Burge 6.5 quiet night
Grimmer 5 Like him, but gave ball away a lot
Stokes 6 Got skinned a couple of times but generally solid
McDonald 7.5 Just puts ball out without fuss if it;s needed
Willis 6 Ok but some poor clearances
Doyle 7.5 Influential. His age showed as younger players drove past him on a few occasions (incl. build up for their goal), but he more than made up for that
Kelly 8 MOTM
Jones 7 Sometimes tried to do too much on his own. Put in one brilliant low cross along 6 yard box which one of our strikers should have been on end of
Devon KE 5 Looked out of his depth last night
Nazon 7 Worked hard for team. Has a tendancy to get up very slowly after challenges though. So nearly got a 2nd with that chip which just went wide
Biamou 6.5 Think last night will do his confidence a lot of good - deserved applause when came off. Could be great foil for McNulty evetually when Duke goes back to Wolves

Support was great last night: my voice is still hoarse!

Burge -7- Not much to do but did everything he had to well and his kicking, a couple under pressure too, looks much better.
Grimmer -6- I like him, down to earth Scotsman who's battling hard, but his passing lets him down. Average L2 fullback being made to look worse by our above average team.
Willis -6- Did ok but I was livid with him for their goal. Yes there were mistakes in the build up but if you watch the highlights he turns and looks straight at Norris 5 yards away and then back at the ball and ignores him til he scores. Twice in 3 games his ball watching has cost us a goal (Cambridge 1st).
McDonald -8- Calmness personified. It's his decision making that stands out for me - knows exactly when to pass it or when to put it into touch.
Stokes -6.5- Like the Cambridge game he's chosen to hold the line of the back 4 when he needed to break out to the player with the ball and it's ultimately ended up with a goal. 0.5 points up for the first time pass into Nazon's feet for the 2nd goal
Doyle -8- Did well to get into the box for his goal and showed all of his errrrrr...experience for the red card. A few wayward passes but he sets a good tempo - whenever there is a free kick he is there on the ball in a flash looking for a quick pass.
Kelly -8.5- Was immense last night - breaking up play, playing pinpoint passes and getting box to box more. He's a really complete midfielder for this level and he's only 27. My favourite player this season.
Jones -7- Another assist and played ok. Bit too quick to get on every set piece, think we have other good options. Some people have said he was quiet but I think that's just the perception because was the first time this season we gave a truly team performance and the ball didn't go through him at every opportunity.
DKE -6- Didn't stand out last night but he was very very comfortable receiving and laying off the ball. Don't remember a stray pass from him.
Nazon -8- What a goal. Sometimes he's Drogba, sometimes he's LeTissier, sometimes he's Stern John. Should have had a pen 2nd half, and should have scored his lob. His breathers are becomer fewer. Gonna be a cult hero if he keeps this up.
Biamou -7- Some will find this an outlandish statement but Biamou won us the game yesterday. Swindon were set up to deal with Jones from the off but Biamou going clean through down the middle twice in the first 5 minutes caused them to panic and pushed the whole Swindon defence back to the edge of their own box, allowing us to push up into that space and dominate the game. Gutted he didn't get a goal (and he should have scored his early chance) as some will still question him for that but for his first start in league football I think he did great. Won headers, held the ball up well and getting better each game.

Summary: In some ways I think Robins has got a bit lucky. Forced injuries have shown him that you can play an attacking line up and not significantly weaken ourselves at the back. It's been proven now that we have a capable squad, not just starting XI, so it's over to him to keep getting team selections right. Looking forward to seeing how we set up against a Crewe team that have conceded 11 goals in their last 3 games against teams that play football (Carlisle, Exeter) and who's main striker is Chris Dagnall. Someone's getting smashed soon, why not Crewe?

Top quality from the Skyblue Army.
Great support for League 2 on a Tuesday night
Tell everybody to get there backsides up the Ricoh on Saturday
Well done to the fans that traveled but I must say I was disappointed that just over 700 made the journey.
Its one the "glamour games", relatively close by and we are near the top.
I am heeding your call to arms on Saturday, Bawtryneal and hoping to do both Barnet and Accrington.

That's pretty harsh I think!

I watched the game on iFollow and the noise the fans made was superb. The camera and mics were set up on the opposite side of the ground to the away fans and still you could pretty much only hear us singing.

Superb effort from all.

The fact we haven't won there in ages, 700 was a great following.

pusbccfc, thank you for sharing your view, which I obviously disagree with. The fact that we haven't won at Swindon in a long time is not a factor in fans going or not going.
In league 2 Swindon is one of the closet games we have and they are likely rivals for promotion and for the division a big name.
I was clear in congratulating those that made the effort and was mildly disappointed that more had not traveled.

Yes those that attended were simply magnificent, that was not my point. My point was aimed at the quantity not the quality.

It's close ish true but impractical by public transport and the club only ran one coach I think. Excellent turnout considering.

I can't make Barnet unfortunately ( but will watch it live on Sky playback at about 5pm).
Will be at Accrington though. Give me a wave !!!

No
I went to a rare game last night.
Support was very good vocally and also supportive when City started to lose control of game. Games I've been to in recent times , Ihave not enjoyed being part of Sky Blue army. Last night was different.
Good effort by fans and players and Manager. Noticed that MR looked genuinely appreciative fans chanting his name. "Sky blue blood" is back on various levels.

My condensed ratings in no particular order
Bearing in mind only knew 4 of the team.

Duck - 8.5
Our number 9 turned out to be Biamou - 6.5
Budge - 7.5
Willis - 7
Other guy in middle defence must be McDonald- 7
Grimmer 5.5
Doyle 7.5
DKE - 6
Jones 7.5
Player who must have been Stokes - 6
Little guy must be Kelly - 7
Robins - only a 6.5 . Although we overall deserved to win, almost lost it by not introducing fresh legs mid way through second half as we tired. Red card made a difference. I like MR though

Have we got a new player??

I think Burge is looking better and better
Aftert his very minor area for improvement at Cambridge (where he started to come but checked for the cross for the first goal) he's come a long way to claim a couple of crosses in the last two games. Really pleasing to see that he's willing to and is learning.
