We are approaching some more ‘interesting’ away days in Luton and Lincoln...and I expect they will attract our Stone Island Brigade in bigger numbers?

I’m a little nervous about taking my lad on the train to these, am I being over cautious?

No you are not. You can't be over cautious when it comes to your lad mate. Take every procedure needed and don't let it stop going to support your team but be careful and plan ahead and you will be fine.

Think Lincoln have a bit of a reputation, it was them that bought Nuneaton to a standstill
A few years back wasn't it, 50 odd arrests with quite a few getting jail time I think.

They have had some issues last 2 games but police are clamping down hard. Dogs and vans met them off train from Notts. It will be fine if you want it to be, lovely place don't miss out because of idiots

Don’t get me wrong took him to some dodgy places in the past but never been to Luton or Lincoln and wanted to tick them off, just aware that our lot will no doubt travel for these and u often get herded about etc in high profile games.

When you come off train, either get cab to bailgate area near cathedral good food nice bars no drama at all. Or stay in the town area and you will be fine. Avoid the lower high st pubs (near the ground) it be worth it, they have a block of supporters with flags and chanting make it a great atmosphere with the SBA who have been outstanding mostly this season. It will be packed and a throw back to the old days atmosphere I hope lol

Great advice cheers.

Yeh I see they have a section in that new big stand along the side, guess it could be their biggest crowd of the season?

Lincoln are not only well supported but also a bit handy when they need to be. Oddly a few of them turned up and caused a bit of bother after the Newport game at the Ricoh.

Don’t worry too much though. I doubt you’ll have any problems with getting caught up in it if anything kicks off. You’ll both be fine. 99% of their fans are decent folk and I’ve had some good times with many of them on away trips. It’ll be one of their bigger crowds but not usual for them. Their stewards and local police are clued up.

Cheers - tbh it’s more our lot I worry about sometimes LOL

Should be fine for both.

Why not take the coach?

Yeh thought about that but the lad has a thing about them so always do trains.

I just get a bit anxious with higher risk games, had a few close shaves in the past etc so probably being over sensitive with it.

Cheers

The one I'm most looking forward to is Port Vale on Boxing Day. Big stand there so if we are still going strong I would expect at least 2,000.

Luton, not my favourite place, this is going back some decades but had my car stolen there when visiting friends, the thief who had broken out of the local nick didn't get far and was stopped on the M1. I had a hell of a job getting the jalopy back from the police who gave me the run around for almost 2 weeks. Grrrrrr.

A parents job is to be cautious when there could be danger. I have been bringing kids up for over 30 years now. Just about to fly off to see another of them getting married. Have been taking my lads to games for nearly 25 years.

But it is nothing like it used to be. Your lad will be safe. I have been taking my youngest lad for a few years. He is 7 now. The few louts that there are won't be looking for someone with a lad with them. And I haven't seen any trouble for years.

Take him as often as you can. It is stuff that memories are made of. Leave your worrying for proper dangers. There will be enough over the years.

Yeah thanks agreed.

Like I said he has been to about 15 grounds now and I’ve done over over 50 but I was just a little cautious about these two.

Not that I have any insider knowledge but I would say there is a chance of some of the Treacle Town nutters using this match as a reason to take up with the Lincoln lot again. I was in Nuneaton on that 'interesting' day when they arrived in numbers and it kicked off. Suspect it had all started at a previous game at Lincoln. On the day, I can remember the amount of arrests getting mentioned by a bemused Mark Lawrenson and Gary Lineker on MOTD.

So those kids that got injured at the M'Boro v Sheff Utd match recently in the car park were looking for trouble? Don't talk bolox mate.
can tell by your language, you would be one who "attracts" trouble
1000 or so matches, from age 6 through to 50
I dont want trouble, so I avoid it

You sound like a shirter.

Which muppet said that on here a couple of years ago and was deadly serious?

Shirter ha ha

Generally speaking you can avoid it but incidents happen and people often end up in the wrong place at the wrong time....
