Ladies and Gentlemen, it's time.

World Cup draw takes place today at 15:00. Who do you want? How far do you think we can go? Who should and shouldn't be on the plane?

I noticed the squad are staying in Repino, which might as well be in Finland! Looks kind of like some of the nice suburbs I saw in Latvia by the coast. That region I find is really fascinating.

Here's putting my neck on the line, I actually think we can do quite well in this tournament... Quarter Finals.

What's everyone's thoughts?

Yeah, scrape through to the quarter finals without at all being convincing.

The fact it is Southgate in charge convinces me we won't pull up any trees and will be cautious.

I think quarter finals only if the draw is kind to us. I actually think our squad is much better than most people believe but unfortunately we have a coach who is out of his depth.

I think our only hope is if he has very, very minor nose reconstruction surgery.

That would keep him out of action for about three and a half years.

Argentina, Iran and Panama would probably be the easiest group we could have. Oddly I’d rather face more of the sides in Pot 1 than those in ours’. First of all though A2 is the one I want to avoid more than anything. If that happens I’ll breathe a sign of relief, as will my travel insurance company.

Must get thru 1st phase. After that depends on who we get. Like others I feel we may fall at the first knockout game.

Sadly since the Kishorn yard dry dock in Wester Ross was decommissioned there are no facilities suitable in the UK.

Not bad Belgium, Tunisia, Panama and England. Couldn’t really ask for better. If we mess up (again) we will only have ourselves to blame.

Gulp!!! Anyone seen the potential routes for England?

IF we were to win our group it could pan out as:

COLOMBIA knock out

Then

BRAZIL in the quarter final

FRANCE in the semi final

GERMANY in the final

Runner up could pan out as:

POLAND knock out

Then

GERMANY in the quarter final

SPAIN in the semi final

BRAZIL in the final

deffo 2nd to Belgium. Then a humiliation thrashing in knockout. Forget this tournament. Euro's should see new talent coming in Hopefully some decent defenders. In this country we seemed to have forgotten the art of defending. All about the fast running wingbacks, getting forward. None of present squad would get into the English defence from the latter part of last century. So until we find some defenders forget tournaments and enjoy the qualifying games against piss poor teams. Rant over

Even we should be able to make it out of that group. First knockout game should be winnable as well. From then it gets a lot harder, would be very surprised if we get further.

Something sounds very familiar about the stadium for Englands first game.
Background: Loosely based on the design of Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena, the newly-built Kaliningrad Stadium has been plagued by delays and difficulties, including the the bankruptcy of the company responsible for its initial design. It was initially conceived as a 45,000-seat stadium with a retractable roof. However, this had to be scaled back to the more modest, roofless 35,000 venue that will host four first-round group matches in the 2018 World Cup.

After this summer's tournament, the stadium will have 10,000 seats removed and become the home of Russian second-tier side Baltika Kaliningrad, whose average attendance last season was just short of 3,500.

England's record against their group opponents
England have not lost to Belgium in their past 11 meetings – their only defeat against them came in 1936. That was their only loss in 23 games overall.

The Three Lions have met Tunisia twice before, drawing a friendly in 1990 and beating them at the 1998 World Cup in France, while England have never met Panama.

So that's P23, L1 against their group-stage opponents.

You have just wasted 15 minutes figuring that out, we'll never get THAT far!

Beat Belgium after woefully conceding late to one of the other teams and therefore needing a result to go through. Pony on it, monster monster

Pundits on Radio 5 making out Russia had been given an easy group. Are they definitely better than Uruguay (Suarez, Cavani) and Egypt (Salah)?

They've been given a favourable opener, but I could see them being battered by the other sides. I also really, really want it to happen.

Think we would win either of the knockout games, then it's the proper teams, and to be fair you can't hope/expect easy games at that stage. I'm going for an optimistic semi final appearance based on the positivity needed to be a CCFC fan!

Flying out on Saturday 16th. Anyone else going? Very happy with the opponents and location of games in the group, along with the possible 2nd round opponents. It could be very interesting in the final group game if both sides have 6 points. With both teams through both should be going for it. We've actually looked quite good when that has been the case. They're the second best side in it and would obviously be favourites to win that game but you never know given that situation.

Let us know if you want any advice, CJ. As I mentioned on another thread, my missus is from Volgograd and all her family live there. Her sister speaks excellent English.
