Maycock signs extension (9 Viewers)

I don't mind him, but at the same time I haven't seen him show anything that would make me believe he is going to be a regular first teamer.

When I've seen him his passing has been poor. He's still young though and hasn't really had a run in the team.

I only saw him in one game (in the Trophy), and I really liked the way he played – athletic and positive. I really don’t think he has had enough first-team action to warrant the negative comments – as a young player he must be doing a lot right to be given this extension, so why not support him?

As soon as a player pulls on that Sky Blue shirt he has my total backing.

He hasn't pulled up any trees for me... YET, but that doesn't mean I don't support him.

Would love nothing more than him warranting this contract extension. Another academy kid breaking through the ranks should be totally applauded.

Thing is it sends out a good message to potential academy lads that maybe hovering on the should we shan't we sign for Cov, maybe just persuade them seeing the number of academy lads getting 1st team chances
Yep. He just hasn't really been getting any game time lately and seemed to have gone down the pecking order a bit, especially with Bayliss leapfrogging him, albeit them being slightly different types of midfielder.

Yes just like every other system in England, Adge. The majority won’t be ‘good’ or make it. You have been through this numerous times already with numerous posters. If you can get one or two players in a year group who can impact the first team or sell on for a decent amount to help finance the club you have done a good job in my opinion.

Indeed. So if we want to progress as a team and the make up of that team is the Burge's and Haynes of this world, as was proved last year we will not move forward. You watched them the same as me no doubt and couldn't/can't do it at L1 level.

Clearly you know more than any manager we’ve had in the past 3-4 years as they’ve had the opportunity to bin the players you mentioned and haven’t. Maybe the many managers we’ve had in that time don’t think the younger players are the issue and our down slide is more down to the senior players not stepping up and performing which is why the likes of Gadzhev, Clarke, Lameiras, Tudgay and Rose were all released over players like Haynes and Burge?

Have you ever thought that might be more realistic than every manager we’ve had being in on a conspiracy theory?

Virtually every club in the three divisions below the Premier League have a stated target of one or two players per age group doing as STP says above
In the Premier League it's probably one from two, three or four age groups
Coventry have actually done very well in the last two or three years and a number of clubs in the top two divisions covet a number of our young players

Yes, been. It is a bit grim and deprived.

Very fighty little place, too. Full of eager young roiders who like nothing better than to get juiced up and give someone a severe dick-kicking.

If you go again, look for a pub called The Beluga. Don't go in, just behold the sight of a hundred people either tearing lumps off each other, or throwing up for Wales behind the fag area.

T'is a quaint place, if Hades is your bag.
