Haynes vs Stokes (6 Viewers)

Just wondering who you guys think is better. I think Haynes offers a lot going forward is obviously better off against quicker attackers then stokes pace wise. But I think Haynes lacks defending skills. When robins plays the wing back formation he surely has to go with Haynes.

Both good enough for this level, happy that we can have both in the squad

Haynes is poor defensively which is a big disadvantage as a defender. Can look good going forward as an attacking option.

Normally I would say Stokes every time, but we are so lacking in getting the ball forward at the moment and with the ability to perm three good centre backs Haynes is an option even if it is from the bench.

Haynes is useless as a defender and despite the myth he’s good as going forward he’s actually not. He also on his aimless rambles upfront loses possession and is incapable of recovering position.

I hope he’s s giveaway in the January sales.

I don't.

I hope someone comes in and offers a million for him.

First time I saw Haynes play I thought his crossing was well above his level, I'd give him a go as a left winger personally, looks much tougher and physically better past couple of seasons.

Stokes is hands down a better defender and would be one of my first names on the team sheet, totally reliable and predictable

I actually think Stokes crossing is better than Haynes. Haynes obviously more dynamic so can get in better crossing positions more easily but if I needed one to deliver a final pass I'd pick Stokes.

Haynes main strength in my opinion is his ability to ghost past a defender, particularly cutting inside. I wonder if he'd be able to do that from the right midfield position, cutting in onto his left foot.

His crossing has been way above the first 25 rows behind the goal.

Our dip in form coincided with Haynes getting a run in the team and has improved again now Stokes is back in.

I think City fans need to let it go with the Haynes hero worship. He is average to poor at best and Stokes is clearly way better suited. Vincenti offers more to the team yet gets absolutely slaughtered by fans but Haynes seems to be covered in Teflon. Just because a player is from the academy doesn't make them an amazing footballer.

I sincerely hope that Haynes never pulls on the shirt again. One of the poorest players I’ve ever seen play for the club and my god there is a hell of a list. Stokes is slowly getting back to where he was. Any coincidence that the results have picked up since the omission of the carrot?

Stokes should be a CB, particularly in the left of a back 3.
Haynes should be a left wing back.
Neither are great out abd our left backs. A hybrid of the 3 were make a good left back

Haynes is rubbish and has no ability to cover defensively. Also his forward play is poor and getting worse.

I'd have Greg Downs now ahead of Haynes. One of the worst to put on the Sky Blue shirt and should have been bombed out ages ago.

Stokes is the far better one defensively of them, if you could only take a few traits from each to make a real good player...

Stokes managed to get forward and hit the bar on Monday. Definitely looks to be getting back to his best. Haynes should be playing for Nuneaton.

From the same area he almost scored a stunner vs Crewe I think earlier in season when it hit the crossbar then post!

Saying that we need more goals from defence, Davies should have scored or got on target at the end of last match.

I think it's just one goal from a defender this season....Grimmer vs Grimsby.

True dat, surprised Willis hasn't got one, he was probably top scorer this time last season.

Yeah, expected a few from him. He went close on Monday with a header. Definitely heading for the corner of the net until someone intercepted it.

Let’s hope we don’t have to call upon Haynes anytime soon as this thread will do his confidence the world of good!

But in answer to the OP, Stokes for me every time, although that said, he’s come back a stronger player since he was rested in favour of Haynes. He did look to be tiring and was making mistakes but more recently has looked like the Stokes of old again

I don’t think Haynes is as bad as some people make out but I would rather have Stokes in the team.

Haynes could be a good player but he’s prone to switching off and costing the team. Stokes may not add the same attacking threat but he’s always reliable.

I'm no Grendel level (if ever a thread was made for him!) but there's no contest, surely?!?

Defensively, concentration and positional awareness all in favour of stokes. He also can cover as centre back.
I don’t see Haynes as a left back or as a left midfield....possibly a wing back. I think if he was going to make it he would be automatic choice in our team by now and he isn’t. A decent player at this level to have on the bench but that is about it for me.
