I take your point as it is a bumped thread. I just believe that today is about paying our respects to one of our family who has passed, not to be comparing the merits of his comparative ability against Dion.I disagree Deity but apologies if you took it that way. There is a thread already that most have contributed on for RIP and condolences, but I was looking back through my posts regarding Cyrille and had totally forgotten about this. I actually think it''s perfect timing to compare the attributes of my 2 all time favourite players one who has passed today.
Do find it rather odd timing.I have to say that I find this thread a little distasteful on this day of all days.
first seen cyrille in 85 against chester. he scored 5 in a 7-2 win. my fav cov player of all time, dion is my 2nd. cyrille first for meTwo of the finest players ever to wear the shirt since I've been watching the City play.
Dion the better goalscorer, but Cyrille had so much in terms of being able to hold the ball up and make it stick up top.
You can only selcet one for your team.
To take all of the emotion out of it and to make your decision based on footballing reasons only, the following assumptions have been made:
Neither has done anything silly like refused to play, or signed for the Villa. They are both at the peak in terms of performance and fitness and are both paid exactly the same. The other ten players in the team around them remain constant and if we could select an ideal foil for either of them, we will assume they are both playing up front with the Robbie Keane that we had here.
Who do you want Cyrille or Dion?
Stop being so precious. It's not a competition to see who is the most upset and faux outrage at a thread based on appreciation of an icon. In a few weeks it will not be as relevant, nothing disrespectful simply discussing the attributes of two former greats. We're all adults, bypass the thread and don't contribute - it will soon fall off the bottom, but let's not pretend you're so emotionally scarred that this is upsetting.

It's because you are doing it on the day of his death.Stop being so precious. It's not a competition to see who is the most upset and faux outrage at a thread based on appreciation of an icon. Beavon v Biamou, now that's a debate!!!This is a moot debate, because we all know Biamou rules all CCFC strikers to have graced the shirt. All hail the king...
Beavon v Biamou, now that's a debate!!!
Just to reassure the public:Beavon v Biamou, now that's a debate!!!
Richard Shaw tops Biamou !!Hang on Biamou hasn’t scored yet! Marcus hall tops him! Everton at HR I recall :woot:. Oh and Oggy has scored more than him and that was in the Prem or top league.
Brings it home doesn’t it!
This topic is in incredibly poor taste today. We should be celebrating what Cyril did for us not comparing his relative contribution, and with that all the implied criticism.
Now about righteousness......Cyrille Regis died on Sunday night, it was announced yesterday that he had passed. I believe that rather than discuss the relative merits of Cyrille and Dion at this time we should have had at least a day to express our condolences and celebrate his great service to our club. I would suggest that is decency.Could you afford the respect of getting the great mans name right before you indulge us with your righteousness?
As I say, I believe Dublin was definitely the better player, but yesterday, after it being announced the Regis had died, for me it seemed really inappropriate to then big up Dion over Cyrille. Now about righteousness......Cyrille Regis died on Sunday night, it was announced yesterday that he had passed. Now calling out a guy about incorrect spelling is pompous and condescending IMO.....
