I remember listening to a discussion a few weeks ago on 5 live and there was some finance boffin talking about the Rangers thing and i am sure he said if the taxman wins this case and i'm assuming he has then a number of top clubs in England will be very concerned. It seems a number clubs have used this off-shore account fiddle to shall i say cook their books, the domino effect may well be interesting.

I just found a very interesting article which explains what Rangers are accused of doing. It appears they have decided to no longer fight the accusation off and so will be liable to pay a lot of taxes plus a massive fine.

What I find really interesting is this suggestion that the practice of using EBTs might be more widespread, with other English clubs? That may mean other scalps, but from the sounds of things Rangers incriminated themselves with a paper trail that more or less proves they were using the EBT scheme as a tax dodge. Other clubs may have done the same but been more careful. We shall see.

If Rangers fold Celtic would find themselves struggling not too long afterwards-and with the Old Firm gone, or even half of it, Scottish football would be well and truly up the creek. Having spent a few years up there (and going back for more later on), I'd say there's simply no chance of the powers that be letting Rangers go tits up. Administration possibly, but out of existence? They're just too important to the SPL and SFA to go that way.

The most likely idea seems to be that Rangers will reform to leave the current Rangers FC to be wound up; that way, Craig Whyte has no liabilities to HMRC, who stand to lose tens of millions of pounds. Money which could otherwise have gone back to the taxpayer.

I think they would have to integrate the english and scottish leagues, in a similar way to including a couple of welsh teams.

Plymouth fans have a long way to go to most away days in all fairness-but Inverness is a stretch even by Cumbrian standards.
