Shipley could definitely do with a week out of the team, unfortunately I don’t think we have anyone in the squad to replace him.

The entire midfield looked shot to pieces by the end of the game and looked like the young inexperienced players that they are. With the exception of Doyle none of them would be our first team if it weren’t for injuries.

Great win against one of the best sides to visit The Ricoh this year.

I disagree I think Shipley has been a consistent player for us since JJ injury.

I'm not convinced JMD is the answer though he is more lightweight than Shipley and he was knackered after 30 mins. Whereas to be fair Shipley his fitness has dramirically improved in recent weeks.

I like Shipley, but he was definitely knackered yesterday.

Reading through I think many have been out for dinner with Andy Turner last night.... some inflated ratings for sure in what was a I'd call a season leveller.
It wasn't our best game by a long shot but finally we were clinical with our chances and rocked Swindon who another day would of won that game. Still the 3 points is ours and we will happily take them.

Burge 6
Grimmer 7
Willis 8.5
Davies 8.5
Stokes 7
Doyle 6.5
Bayliss 5
McGuire-Drew 5
Shipley 6
McNulty 8
Biamou 8

DKE 4.5

Burge, never MOTM, bizarrely awarded the sponsors Gael Bigirimana trophy.
Davies and Willis dominant, Bayliss tried but his worse game to date unfortunately, McNulty and Biamou worked well and well done to McNulty for reliving pressure getting the 3rd as we were on the ropes.

It's always sweet to win and even better to win when we haven't played well.

Makes a change being clinical in boxes. I thought quite a few players had off days yesterday.

Our three goals yesterday were simply brilliant, even the penalty was never in doubt we all knew she was going to smash it.

You know something about Miss McNulty that we don't?

I was more concerned with JMD, who faded very badly, very quickly.
He looked to me like someone who just wants to play football how we all like to see it played.
He needs to learn quickly that it doesn't often happen in League 2 and there's a lot of dirty work needs doing in the meantime.

Yeah, they sussed him out rather quickly. He started off well and looked very dangerous, but when they realised they could out-muscle and dominate him physically he was quickly nullified.

Must say I was impressed by their left wingback. Seemed to have a lovely left foot on him.

Didn't understand why Robins didn't make more than 1 sub, Bayliss was off the pace the second half yet preferred him to Stevenson. Doesn't say a lot for him.

Kept the faith with Davies too when they brought Marc Richards on with Davies on a yellow. Davies was very disciplined the second half. Willis supported well working together. Good communication between the two, when Willis came to deal with a header/clearance to relieve Davies.
Rod Mcdonald is gonna have to sit tight.

I still think McDonald should come back into the team, as his passing from the back adds an extra dimension to the side. There was a lot of space to exploit in that second half up front and the bells from midfield and defence were not good enough.

That being said it’s a nice problem to have when we have 3 excellent players challenging for 2 positions.

I do too but you cannot drop either Willis or Davies at the minute. Both are playing there part and adding qualities to the side.

There was a lot of aimless lumping of the ball forwards today from many a player out of desperation more than anything.

I'm a fan of Mcdonald but he's just gotta wait... plus January is still here. His chance will come.

Burge 7.5 made some crucial saves. Tipped one onto the bar 1st half and the double save second half were excellent.
Stokes 6 solid enough defensively, can't remember him doing much going forward.
Willis & Davies 8 were both excellent attacked everything today. Willis just shading it as my MOM
Grimmer 5 got caught out of position for their goal and on a couple of other occasions.

Shipley 7 Thought he did well. Covered back a lot and pushed forward well when he had the chance. Tired after about 70 min.
Doyle 8 really held the midfield together well. His passing was decent today. He tackled and made interceptions as always.
Baylis 5 was poor today. He's still a kid and isn't going to play well every week. Gave the ball away so often but kept plugging away.looked knackered after about 40 min.
MD 7 first half 4 second half. Put some decent balls in and ran at their defence first half. Second half was more noticeable for not putting his foot in or looking interested. Love the way he claps the crowd at corners when no one is clapping him.
Biamou. 8 great strike for his goal. Dare I say Regis esq. Put in a shift, won plenty of headers which we are really poor at picking up the second ball.
Mcnulty 8 Scored 2 and looked like he was running through treacle the rest of the game. His second goal was a beauty. Just hit it on instinct right in the corner.

Dke 6 did well when he came on including one peach of a tackle which not only knocked the ball out but also left their left back holding his foot and hobbling away.

Fair play to the Swindon fans. All stood and clapped for the minutes applause, again in the 9th minute and for the video at half time.

Not as convincing as the scoreline looks and a game we could easily of lost as Swindon missed a lot of good chances. How they never scored in that goal mouth scramble second 1\2 I don't know. Still I will take a win all day every day. The pitch is in shit order and needs sorting out urgently.

That Dke tackle= I want my place back. NOW!

I'm gonna rock the boat here... that was all he did, and did it well but his positional play was awful.
I get he was playing in a different position and asked to do a job but his man was left with the freedom of the city. He was never near him. Going forward he offered a outlet which was important to relieve pressure yet defensively he was too narrow, left Grimmer a lot to do giving the Swindon man too much space in a dangerous time of the game.

It's tough one, yes McDonald passing out of the back is much better. Also love his very occasional forays into opposition half , Reda or Mo konjic esqu.

But at the moment it's good to show loyalty to to those with the shirt.

I've only just realised, after watching it bout 5 times, how good Willis's goal line clearance was in that scramble.
Can everyone edit your posts and add him a point on please?!
You want me to give him a 10? I already have him rated as a 9 and I don't think there is ever a perfect score.

Will 9 3/4 do?

Bayliss didn't have his best game at the weekend but we were defending the edge of our own box again for large parts of the match. His ability to run with the ball has masked the gap between the midfield and strikers more than when Kelly was in the team but with their extra man in midfield he was pulled very deep at the weekend, reducing his effectiveness.

It also impacts the role Biamou is being asked to play too - a lot of the time he has to come very deep for our long balls with just McNulty running off him. If you compare that to e.g. Wycombe and the way they play off Akinfenwa: he plays high or even on the last line, with multiple runners from midfield going beyond the defence into space. In our current set up it is really only McNulty who benefits, as Biamou has pulled a defender out the backline leaving gaps for McNulty to exploit. Biamou then has to make up 20 yards each time if he is to get into a scoring position.

its a odd one, the team didn't play particularly well when you consider the sloppy passes and the pressure that then invited from Swindon, however, it was a great team performance with shifts being put in all over the park. Having said that, we took our chances, defended well in the second half, and was nice to go into the final 10 mins without too much to worry about.

On the Burge issue, he was excellent when it mattered with the saves he pulled off, but some of his distribution was the worse I'd seen this season, but he did what he had to when required!

Was interesting having both Burge and Cookie on at the same time. Cookie didnt even move for any of our three shots, and flapped on a couple of occasions. Certainly wasn't in command of his box either!

He does a lot of unsung work.

Considering we used to be called Singers FC, that's not much of an endorsement....;)
