Burge 6 handling decent but back to shite kicking
Grimmer 7 got forward well although final ball a little lacking at times but battled well
McDonald 6 not one of his better nights was very lucky not to be sent off and concede a penalty
Davies 8 very solid at the back
Stokes 5 very poor distribution and crossing was terrible, people have a go at Burge but Stokes was numero uno tonight for shit kicking
Shipley 7 good goal faded a lot but offers a decent outlet
Doyle 8 extra point for his goal never stopped running, not everyones favourite player but he is always barking and helping the kids out
Bayliss 8 kept running, is he a super kid? couple of great runs through midfield and he is only 18
DKE 6 involved in the first goal one of his slightly better games but still not great
Biamou 8 sponsors MOTM ran his heart out again great assist for the 3rd goal
McNulty 8 another good goal but fluffed a couple of other chances but kept battling until the end

Vincenti 6 slow as a dead slug but his long legs won the ball back a couple of times
Haynes 6 ran up and down a bit and hmmm thats all

Scores may be slightly higher than normal but thats what another 3 points in the bag does for you

Not the greatest performance after Saturdays FA cup game but win ugly is great sometimes

we looked very tired second half. I really worry some of these players are going to struggle with the amount of games we have coming up.
If Stevenson goes, (which I think he will, not on bench, Robins not asked about him in press conference which tells me Foster was told not to ask), we need another midfielder.

Bit harsh on Burge. His kicking was dire as it normally is but some great saves again and commanding of his box with some big catches and punches. Would give him 7.5

Think that was the Cambridge team we expected, the leggy Coventry performance we expected and the result we didn't dare to hope for!

Burge - 6 - Couple of good saves and catches, some ropey kicking. Got his hand to the ball for their goal but can't decide if he should have done better with it
Stokes - 5 - Gave an awful lot of cheap ball away tonight. By far our best choice at left back still but not the player he was 2 seasons ago and can't put my finger on why.
McDonald - 5 - Given a torrid time by Ikpeazu and could have seen red and conceded a penalty on another day. Lost his man for their goal too I believe.
Davies - 7 - Does what Davies does and won a lot of balls in the air. Could also have conceded a penalty when he threw him himself in front of a shot
Grimmer - 6.5 - Got forward well in the first half and was always an outlet for Bayliss but faded in the 2nd as the defence got pinned back
Shipley - 7 - Looked livelier than recently for not starting on Saturday and took his goal excellently. His work rate up and down the wing is fantastic.
Doyle - 7 - He was knackered 2nd half and for a while after HT we stopped winning the 2nd balls and knockdowns but those old tired legs still popped up in the box in injury time to take the pressure off when it was needed. Hope he gets a couple of days of well deserved rest now.
Bayliss - 7.5 - Simply too good for this league. His ability to carry the ball is the real reason for our upturn in form as he changes the whole dynamic of our midfield. P10 Won 8 since he came into tte team.
DKE - 6.5 - Lot of surprise over his inclusion but it was a good decision from Robins in the end because he brought an energy into the team that would have otherwise been lacking.
McNulty - 8 - Another who looked knackered 2nd half and didn't have a great all round game but changed the game with 2 moments of brilliance - a great goal out of nothing and setting up Shipley with an excellent turn and cross
Biamou - 8 - Worked really hard again and his all round play continues to improve as he grows into the target man role. Deserved his (somewhat fortunate) assist at the end.

Vincenti - 6.5 - Worked hard, put himself about and his experience off the bench will be important in the run in

Robins - 8.5 - Leftfield selection of DKE proved a lot of people wrong and did well to get his team up for the game on the back of that cup win against a team who had just had 10 days rest.

Burge, 6 - good punches and made a very good save first half, but some of his kicking was a bit off
Grimmer, 7 - defended well and linked up well with Bayliss and Vincenti
Davies, 7 - won his aerial battles and looked assured at the back
McDonald, 6 - didn’t look as assured as Davies, but he won his aerial battles too
Stokes, 5 - defended well, but his attacking play wasn’t great, 2-3 blocked crosses in a row zones it up
Kelly-Evans, 5 - put himself about in the tackles, but I wasn’t overly convinced in his ability
Bayliss, 7 - he oozes class, summed up by his run down the wing in the second half
Doyle, 7 - brilliant goal to secure the win
Shipley, 7 - well taken goal
McNulty, 8 - what a finish, what an assist, closed down really well all night, but the miss from the quick free kick was criminal! A clear talisman for us.
Biamou, 7 - hustled their defenders, won a lot in the air topped off with a really good assist for Doyle.

Subs:
Haynes, 6 - played ok, but his main function was to protect what we had.
Vincenti, 7 - put in the underrated donkey work with some really good tackles on that right wing

Typical L2 game, and I thought the only way Cambridge we’re going to score was by a set-piece, and that exactly happened. Glad we won this because all too often, we’ve slipped up in these positions this season.

Burge 7 - A good punch and some very decent saves, but he seriously needs to sort out his kicking otherwise he is going to gift another goal away real soon.

Grimmer 7.5 - Very good effort from him today and made some vital interceptions. Got forwards well too on occasions.

Davies 9 - Brilliant! My MOTM. Full of guts and bravery and held his own against the constant waves of Cambridge attacks

McDonald 6 - His poorest performance to date for me. He had a real battle on his hands and was second best for the most part. He did make some vital tackles and interceptions and blocks though.

Stokes 6 - Better going forwards than he was in defence. Given a torrid time on a few occasions.

DKE 6.5 - Started brightly in that first half, but faded out of the game after half time. He was clearly struggling with a hamstring injury though and was constantly grabbing his leg. Should have been subbed earlier.

Doyle 6.5 - Needs at least an extra half a point for the goal. Seemed to fade badly in the second 45 mins, so no idea where he summoned up the energy to get forwards for that 3rd goal.

Bayliss 7.5 - Majestic in that first half, but another one who tried badly as the game wore on. Still a very decent effort from the lad.

Shipley 7 - Played well in the first half, but was struggling into the second and was rightly taken off.

Biamou 7.5 - Worked tirelessly once again and showed some very good link up play

McNulty 7.5 - Same as Biamou. Worked his socks off and scored another excellent goal and could easily have had a couple more.

Vincenti 7 - I thought he looked decent when he came on.

Haynes n/a - Not on long enough to judge.

The last goal looked like a rehearsed training ground move to me (lol)
I was a bit like this when I saw Doyle arriving in the box in the 92nd minute:

I just think if Stokes and McDonald were so poor (that's half our back four), how did we defend so manfully and manage to keep them at bay for the most part?

Even though their number 9 had us chasing shadows at times, I thought we stuck at it, battled away and put in another pretty sterling rearguard effort.

Really enjoy watching us defend this year. Not seen a better back four than ours all season

Great stat on Bayliss 8 out of 10 not a surprise

Lots of tired legs out there second half. Max, McNulty, Davies were excellent. Mcdonald will be left out for Willis Saturday. Looking forward to Kelly playing again but need to make sure Bayliss still gets a start

He had one good opportunity all game and he was largely contained I thought. When he got subbed off you could see him holding his head in his hands. That’s pretty telling to me.

Burge 6.5 - thankfully he can save, kicking atrocious tonight and nearly gifted chances. Did what was required when it mattered tho, much improved at coming for crosses too which is pleasing to see.

Grimmer 7 - a Typical Grimmer display. Vocal and reliable.

Davies 8 - class, nothing gets past him. Wins everything in the air, a warrior. Does everything and keeps it simple. Strong, confident and solid just what you want.
What a take down too...

Mcdondald 7 - not his best game by a long shot but a very difficult night against a real handful in Ikpeazu. Difficult job to do when on a yellow too. Did enough for me still against Ikpeazu who's not your average striker to keep quiet.

Stokes 5.5 - did ok but for a crazy 10 minute spell. Reliable when needed defensively.

Doyle 7 - captains performance and capped off with a goal, looking tired.

Bayliss 7 - kids class. Full of running but another looking dead on his feet now. Unselfishly passed in the first half when could of taken the shot.

Shipley 7 - good game, took his goal very well. Strong solid and steady.

Kelly Evans 5.5 - did ok but seems to go missing in games. Needs to do more.

McNulty 8 - excellent again, another typical McNulty performance. Great goal, wonderful pass to unselfishly put Shipley in rather than a wasteful tight angled shot. Beat his man fairly too before awarded a yellow for his frustrations.

Biamou 8.5 MOTM. A powerhouse full of confidence and enjoying his football. Now getting in front of his man, controlling the ball in difficult situations. Works and works.

Vincenti 5.5 - did ok, not the most loved man to wear the shirt but did his job

Haynes 5.5 - nothing to note but steady enough and did a job

Biamou rightly deserved the man of the match and the confidence from that and applause for his work and physical battles won should boost his confidence 10 fold. Tom Davies was a close second for me.

Stokes was better going forward? Unusually very poor game from him.

Lots of good performances again and Bayliss who would've been my motm is quickly becoming one of my favourites. Tired a little late on but understandable and some if his touches and runs oozed class. Stokes gave the ball away too often, Burge's kicking even worse than usual but more than compensated with some teriffic saves. The front two worked tremendously hard again which given Saturday's performance and effort too is credit to them.

Officials were dreadful again but at least they didn't cost us points. Nearside linesman the worse, not just for us but completely inept.

Yeah, I believe so. He was given a torrid time in defence, but at least for forwards on numerous occasions with overlaps and one two's between himself and Shipley.

Do think we should be be prepping Camwell more as cover to Stokes who may still be struggling from that long lay off .
Took a while to build fitness into him when he first arrived.
No doubt we could cover by switching CBs around but prefer a natural like for like switch myself.

Stokes started the season sluggishly, then had a spell where he came good and looked back to his old self, but now seems to have gone backwards a bit and looks like he is running through treacle (otherwise known as the Rioch pitch).

It likely is simply down to fatigue, I have always liked him but he doesn't exactly look a true athlete .
As willing as they come but does need a rest now and then .
I'm as confident about Camwell as a footballer as I was about Bayliss.

Glad someone is. I was very hopeful on him, but last time out for me he looked rather lightweight.

Stokes does offer some physicality and that I find a bit lacking in Haynes and Camwell.

You have a good eye for a player tbf Wingy. Remember you pointing out Bayliss as a star of the future in the Arsenal FAYC game ;)

Both Grimmer and Shipley took nasty knocks and spent a long time recovering from them - Grimmer was taken out cynically by their full-back which should have been a yellow card, likewise Shipley, who was kicked early in the second half.

Stokes has been fine, as a unit our back 4 look much better with him playing, he has very good awareness of danger. Agree with you about his (lack of) athleticism

He started off against Cambridge giving the ball away at every opportunity, wish he would get his head in gear because at this level he aint a bad player but it appears he is still not over that injury unless it is just down to fitness levels with him
