It's amazing after a loss how our views change.

Mine have always been the same I would have kept him here and played him he is inconsistent but different and if we didn’t have him we would be saying that’s the type of player we want. I would get him in the squad Saturday and probably start him instead of Kelly and move Bayliss back inside where he belongs

Reid would strengthen our current squad.
I have changed my mind on him somewhat in the past few days.

I was very much of the not wanting him anywhere near the squad and felt it sent the wrong signals to the squad of players who had worked so hard and earned their places and wanted to play for this club.

I am now though of the opinion that I would take anything that can improve our fortunes and give us the best chance of going up.

Robins will know how much he wants to be involved or not, so if he deems Reid worthy of inclusion I am not going to argue.

We could pick him for two games, Colchester and the playoff final.

I'm exactly the same about Reid - he is a potential game changer going forward - and we don't have many of those. For all we are probably worried about Stevenson being up for it against us, I expect Reid would be exactly the same against Colchester (and we need a result there).

My view has changed and that is down to our injuries.

When he originally had a mardi fit pre-season I was firmly in the ‘I don’t want to see him ever in a skyblue kit again...’

But with the squad the way it is-I really do think it’s like a January signing. He’s a good player when he wants to be and is an experienced head for our youngsters.

Let’s face it if Jones, Andreu et al were fit-we’d be treating Reid like a leper right now.

I really do hope, that as others have rightly said, Reid sees this as a last opportunity to get his career on track.

That he finds a bit of redemption or that Robins can coax some match winning performances out of him!

There are a lot of Kyel Reid apologists on this thread all of a sudden...
I think there are a lot of people who are just seeing the facts. Nowt more.

1. Barrett is unfit and seemingly overweight.

2. JMD has been demoted to the U23's

And

3. Shipley is struggling to last all match and tires too easily (something he has admitted to himself).

It's not being an apologist, it's facing facts and looking at a possible needs must scenario.

Yup. We need options. Bayliss needs to be in middle. I actually thought Barrett looks like he has something but as you say also looked overweight and is not a winger. Vincenti?

Yeah, but was only looking at the left hand side.

Midfield should be

Shipley, Doyle, Bayliss, Reid

Or at least tried. Kelly should not have walked into team.
Change Reid for Maguire-Drew, I think he's a god player to have in the side. He offers directness and, while his end product isn't up there, he pulls defenders out of position and creates space like Ryan Kent.

We know Reid is a selfish player. We know he's messed up and as a result is now unwanted. It's in his best interests to perform now

We haven't had a winger who gets to the byline and crosses the ball all season. Instead we've had many players in that position who like to cut inside and narrow our attacks. It's part of the reason Biamou hasn't scored as many as he should have. There can't be many teams in the league playing a target man with no-one that can cross a moving ball. If we are going to continue with Biamou as first choice, I'd be prepared to give Reid a final chance.

Lets be honest, from what we've seen of all the names, Reid is the best left winger at the club. Appreciate that's not saying much though.

If we can get a performance out of Reid like Wembley. He will destroy teams in this league.

I met him and has family after the final and he seamed really down to earth, Its a shame we hadn't seen that Reid before or after the final.

If he puts his mind to it and plays his socks off. He could be the link we have been missing.

The booing of Reid when he first touched the ball today was dissapointing.

He’s our player, clearly a confidence player at that and needs the fans behind him not vilifying against him. Saying that though, I thought he did well in his time on the pitch.

I thought it was a little tongue in cheek...pantomime villain stuff. I’m sure he can cope with it. If he can’t he may as well give up now.
On that performance I expect him to start against Colchester, where he’ll be booed again of course...

He can’t play against Colchester can he?

Yes he can
Yep. If he'd still been on loan there then he'd have been ineligible, but now he is back with us then there's no problem (other than his lack of ability and poor attitude, obsv)

Reid has to start on Tuesday, he has to be motivated to do well against them.
When he is on his game he is an asset to the team, if he hadn't come out with the "gentlemans agreement" bollocks then he would have been first choice no. 11 this season and Shipley would have still been in the U23's or on loan at the Boro.
