Yeah, there have been McNulty's goals, but without that back four we would be much further down the table. Even single one of them has not let the side down.

But especially the centre backs, because Stokes has been distinctly average and so too Haynes.

Grimmer has looked good, but all the centre backs have been outstanding at one time or another.

People are too quick to jump the gun, one of the reasons I post so little, is simply because of the stupid reactions. You can go through any match thread and see when we are drawing we are shit but as soon as we score we are going up...
Robins has done a great job, he’s not perfect by any means. He has made mistakes, but by in large he has fixed them.
Don’t think we can do any better.

As pure and simple as that for me! We have 3 or 4 leaders on the pitch this season. Last season everybody was hiding and nobody was willing to stand up and lead! This season, everybody knows their job and what is expected of them!

He set out to build not just a team, but a squad. Davies and Hyam being 2 players that, whenever they have played, have not looked out of depth - despite being brought in as role players or backup options.

He had an unwavering belief in McNulty, when the typical boo-boys said he wasn’t a ‘natural goal scorer’, ‘wasn’t good enough’ or even the occasional idiot suggesting we should sell him in Jan. McNulty has repaid the faith Robins put in him. He’s put faith in Vincenti too, who’s starting to deliver at such a pivotal time of the season.

He’s brought in young players, in particular Bayliss against the recommendation of his own coaching staff.

Recruitment has been a massively improved, JCH was a 3rd choice target and he’s really lifted our attack to another level.

Despite our bad luck, injuries to key players, we’re still in touching distance of automatics, so, even if we don’t go up this year, I have a lot of faith in us to get promoted next season.

I could go on further, he’s not had a perfect season, indeed there’s been many frustrations, but he is the right man to take this club forward.

I’d say strength in depth of squad. Coping with injuries. Having 2 players for every position.

Maybe. We’ve certainly had all the resources to get to that point. But, L2 is a notoriously difficult league to get out of at the first time of asking. That is at least worth consideration — and the fact the Newport poster said that at the start of the season is telling.

I think the difference between where we are at now, and where we’ve been most of the season is our goal potential. We have multiple outlets that can get us goals now; McNulty, JCH, Bayliss and Vincenti. Whereas, for most of the season, we’ve relied solely on 1-2 players to make the difference; Jones and Nazon, after them, only McNulty was scoring - with the odd goal from midfield.

Plus, the amount of players we’ve signed this season, there is that element of players needing time to ‘gel’, we basically revamped the whole team over the summer. Other teams just didn’t have to do that.

Yeah, if you had to only had to pinpoint one thing. The one most important factor.

I still say the 4 centre backs. If we only had 2 or 3 decent ones I think we wouldn't be where we are right now.

Having 4 has meant that they have all been interchangeable and it has continued to work seemlessly when 1 or 2 have been out.

Doyle for me - I know a lot of people blame the cup run for the downturn in league form we suffered at that time, but for me his absence at that time showed how crucial his presence & influence on the team has been. He is the ultimate pro who gives everything & has been a great leader for what has been a pretty young & inexperienced team.
