Why are relatively junior jobs given titles containing the words "Executive" or "Manager"?

It hasn’t been decided who is on the new supporters group yet has it?

I was under the impression that those interested could put themselves forward and there would at some point be a vote.
Correct
But you had to apply and detail down what you have to offer the post.
You send it in and get a computer generated reply saying they will be in contact with you within 5 days.
Nothing. (x3 now). Jonathan Strange (2016) and Mark Hornby (2015)
I've pulled it now (if they haven't already?). Disillusioned with the process and what appears to be a take it or leave it management style (TF?)
Probably why I'm a bit touchy on this thread.

I doubt you’ve made it to Captain in the council chambers to be fair.

Does £100K equate to Chief Engineer ?

I think we can safely say on most things in the real world you are very much behind the times.

I retired at 50 (2005) so very much so.
Thanks goodness for the JLR final salary pension (unreduced) at the time and the continued management package.:joyful:

Exactly.
Employers can help some applicants by just giving them some feedback.
Obviously just a standard dear John joint email to the obvious no chancers.

As I said I'm a little bit out of it but if thats the practice these days then it's a shame.

You are well out of it Italia. No one sends out Dear john anymore the world has moved on.
My wife is head of HR for her company and doesn't have the time or resources to send a sorry you didn't make it through the paper sift stage, she is run off her feet as are most similar departments.

Don't let that stop you criticising the club, and subjecting us to your extensive (outdated) knowledge.

I often think we must have the highest qualified, most senior and well-paid football fans going, looking at this board.

No idea why Hoffman's struggled to raise finance, he just needed a whip-round here.

Sorry Hoff, can you wait until the bonds finish ?

Better late than never. ;)
Standards have dropped but it's not right in my mind.
For those attaching a specific to job letter, I would say just Generic Group Text or Email to say your application will not be progressed would be acceptable these days.
For those just throwing in a generic CV to any old job, I might agree that no real effort was made and the round filing cabinet is acceptable.

Thanks for the welcome ;)

Just relaying what I know, and what I have experienced through my wife.
Its sad that there is little feedback these days but a lot of HR departments are severely under pressure. I have experienced good and bad treatment by ones I have worked for, but the common denominator is often low numbers.

Ah yeah they paid off a load of useless shite then - I’ll take the cash thanks. Still keep working if I want as well.

It was like an unwritten loyalty perk for senior management at the time and stopped after I left when JLR was taken over.
Take the cash and retire on a pension is best surely? Enjoy life, tour the world and make friends.

No it wasn’t they shipped a load out in that year and paid them off. The two guys I knew were managed out with a bung. Didn’t stop then either happened again at least 3 other times.

Currently waiting for something to update, so in between cursing and gnashing of teeth, figure I may as well lighten the mood by checking out the thousandth page of this thread.

The old updating chestnut ;)

Did you purposely click the reminder in Windows in work time so you get an hour? ;)

I am right, they have said the same thing. It's just he is a bit slow so it needs breaking down to the very basics.
