Its a freaky result, just one of those bizzare games where everyone - manager and players - made huge f*k ups. You expect one or two in a match but for a team with a pretty good defensive record, conceeding 6 at home, bugger me when was the last time that happened?
Just a slight note on Max - maybe he's turned a corner? People sometimes do listen, learn and improve.

I'm not Grendel but my thoughts are, he is good when there is no pressure, he bottles it when there is pressure.Thoughts on Biamou today, Grendel?
If we are 5-0 down, he's the man to score a wonder goal. But can he score when its 0-0 in the 85th minute?

I don’t particularly rate him, nor Haynes or Burge for that matter, just the constant slandering ‘he only did it because’ against them when they do anything well is embarrassing

Coventry Rugby Club went almost 12 months undefeated, we're top of the table and had a low points against column. In January they went to Blackheath and lost 61-29, like the game on Saturday the opposition were out of sight after 15 minutes.
The manager had his best side on the pitch. It was one of those days a blip, uncharacteristic performances by players who were punished for every error.
The reaction by manager and fans; they moved on and focused on the next game and got back on track. The next game exactly the same 15 were picked who had been so abysmal at Blackheath. No players were singled out, there was no finger pointing, there was witch hunt to discover the weakest links in the team and squad. Club and fans stuck together and focused on the next game and got back to winning ways.
It's heads down time now and just accumulate as many points as you can. There are always shocks at this stage of the season. It's a week to week process and we are still very much in the frame. Remember this group of players got us where we are and have been there or there abouts all season, so why not just back them.

Wasn't the difference that they were well ahead at the top of the league at that point rather than fighting to get into a playoff? They hadn't also dropped loads of other points by the same players making stupid mistakes.
Saying that, most people know it was 1 result and will be back and just as eager for a win on Saturday and will celebrate it as much as any other. A loss again though and dropping out of the playoffs and people will look at the Yeovil, the Exeter, the FGR games where silly mistakes cost us.

There were a lot of individual mistakes, but the overwhelming feeling I got from the game was the players thought “ we just have to turn up to win this “ and we all know what comes next.

If we are talking Biamou then its true he's doesn't score enough for the chances he gets during a game, that is frustrating but its also true this this is his first season in professional football. It takes time for some people to adapt so perhaps maybe now he's using the experience he's gained over the season to do what he can do. I think he'll need to keep the form of the last couple of games from now until the end of the season if he wants to be here in August.

Other thought being that yes, the Yeovil game was a blip...a freak result and we have to move on. Peter Vincenti should also not be anywhere near the first team for the forseable future.

Does Biamou actually get more chances? Last time we had this discussion people were going back about 7 games to point out a missed chance which was the one at waist height at Exeter.
He's getting more chances now and has put them away.
He is on a 2 year deal, so unless we are paying him off or selling him to get rid he will probably still be here.

No, Blackheath was one of the first (and easier game) in a run of tough games. They had most the top six yet to play away in the second half of the season and they had to play Darlington home and away who had games in hand as did Plymouth in 3rd. Yes they were ahead but it all could have collapsed very easily.
But that is the group of players we have Nick. It is not going to change. A group of players despite the mistakes have the best defensive record in the league, which suggests other teams are making more mistakes and will probably continue to do so.
What do you want to do? Help destroy the group's confidence? The group who have had us in and around the play offs all season, the group who still have it all to play for. My point is finger pointing leads to more finger pointing. It destroys squads it doesn't build strong teams. Alex Ferguson never criticised his sides in defeat and there is a reason for it.

People will always analyse football matches, what went wrong, who played well, who cocked up. After Newport I was saying that Burge made a great save and also nearly setup a goal with an amazing throw out to Shipley, likewise against Yeovil I point out his balls up. Come the next game at Notts County I will be behind every player who plays for us and wanting to win the same as every other game.
They are footballers, I am by no means saying it is right for people to start giving players personal abuse on social media or at games as that's too far but the results are always going to be deconstructed.
We are pretty much at the business end of the season now, there isn't the luxury of having loads of games to catch up with the teams above us. A couple of bad results for us and good results for other teams and that's us out of it.

Well his scoring rate this season suggests he isn't converting as many as he should be. But yes he's scoring now like you say as as per my point.
He's on a 2 year deal yes but if he's not in a managers plans then it would be in his best interests to move on as what usually happens in these situations, I'd hazard a guess he's probably not on much more than he was at Sutton United.

Watching all the games I can't really think of many clear cut chances he has missed recently. Yes there was the Exeter one and a couple of other sitters towards the start of the season but he hasn't really missed many.

That’s irrelevant as strikers also have a responsibility to lose defenders and get into position to score goals don’t they? McNulty I’m sure you’ll say misses chances but has it occurred to you that’s because he knows what he is doing?

Of course positioning comes into it, as does chances created.
Ponticelli at the start of the season when he played a few games would make some amazing runs and lose his marker and be in a great position but never got the ball for most of them.

A little reverse perspective. Why were Yeovil so near to the bottom end of the table if they are so good? On Monday they played really well, won every 50-50, had the run of the ball on a few occasions, and deserved to beat us - especially given the "just got to turn up" mentality. How many of those Yeovil players would get into our side - not based on one game, but on their performances over the season so far?
As far as the game went, we were dreadful at the back, but up front created several chances, and had Barratt's second touch been as good as his first, we might have been well in it at 3 - 4, and in with a shout.

Yes we are at the business end of the season. We also have no choice but to go with the players we have got, the players who have the best defensive record into this league, the ones who got us in with a chance.
At this stage you cannot afford to cry over spilt milk or over analyse. You can't afford to knee jerk and go for radical changes. You have to dust yourself down, regroup and stick with what has served you well. It is minor tweaks at this stage of the season and largely self belief that will get you over the line.

No, it was a one off game. It's a glitch. We haven't lost in 7 prior to this and are still in a playoff position.

He's a good squad player and has proved that the last couple of games. I think there was too much put on him in the first half of the season. His performances through January were good and to a lesser extent in December (aside from goals). If he can add goals on a consistent basis he'll be a useful player in this division and maybe the league above, at least as a squad player.
