On the radio they were talking about Wenger, I thought bloody hell another one has passed away,as it sounded really sombre. But no he's standing down as manager. Bob Wilson was sobbing. Now Arsenal fans love him again ! Fickle or what.

I don't think it's all that fickle, now they can appreciate what he's done for the club rather than despair at what he's currently doing for them. I think they want to love him, but the last few seasons of identical fortunes make it hard.

I meant the fans who wanted him out.

He's won 3 trophies in 5 years - Spurs/Liverpool have won nothing. They get plaudits and he gets derision.

Yeah so do I for the most part, they don't want him as manager any more but are now free to pay tribute for his overall contribution. Saying that there will be a lot of oddballs who went completely off him as some Arsenal fans have a particularly hilarious sense of entitlement.

I wonder how much leeway the replacement will get if he's not immediately got them firing. You'd hope a little time to bed in considering qualifying for the UEFA Cup is now their current level, but all those snarling Youtube idiots won't be happy unless they've done the quadruple and won the Indy 500.

Arsenal fans come across as massive bellends.

Max branning off EastEnders was on soccer am, was saying "yeah we have won things like the fa cup" in a way that meant the fa cup was nothing at all and meaningless.

Hope they get somebody who does even worse

Careful what you wish for Arsenal fans!!
Exactly, not like a new manager coming in means the owners will suddenly decide to allow more money for transfers.

Can easily see several managers not lasting much longer than 12 months and mid table football.

Imagine a world where 3 Premier League titles, a Champions League Final, a UEFA Cup Final, 7 FA Cup wins, 3 League Cup Finals and 7 Community Shield wins in 22 years is classed as failure. They want to try supporting us!

Stan Kroenke is famous in America for not really caring how his teams do but since he moved the rams to LA he’s been heavily involved so Arsenal have been put on the back burner so to speak.

I was talking to a customer of mine the other day,he said he once was a big football fan but got disillusioned with it all, and doesn't bother with it anymore. I asked him what made him lose interest with it as I still love the game ? He listed money, greedy players, agents etc, the price of watching games, but also he said managers don't get time in the job anymore, sacked after only a few months. But this can't be said of Wenger can it, as he has called it a day in his own terms, he has the final word.

I'll tell you what always gets me about Arsenal fans. You hear them week in, week out talking about how much of a terrible position their club is in. Ok, maybe last season and this haven't been great. But they have been a top four team for, what, pretty much 20 years?

They really don't understand how good they've had it compared to some. The grass isn't always greener, after all...

What a great manager he has been and was forward thinking when he arrived in England when basically nobody had ever heard of him. The team of invincibles was the best football team I have seen in my generation. I just now hope he gets the send off he deserves.

Great side that was. I thought his 97-98 side was better though.
