You think he was fine, even for their 4th goal? Come on, he is a liability and we need to get rid in the summer.
I wouldn't argue with the latter point at all, I think you're right. I also don't think he was 'at fault' for the fourth goal (I haven't seen the highlights yet so could be wrong), from my viewpoint it looks like he possibly could have done better but wouldn't call it a glaring fault. Even still, it was 3-2 at this point, the damage was done, and that wasn't by Burge.

Not just about one game though is it?

I agree it's not. But you can't just start blaming players when they haven't really been at fault because they were at fault a few games ago. Like I said, I'm no Burge fan, I just think people get angry and blame the easy targets.

No I blame them for when they are pretty much to blame.

I haven't said Burge is to blame for the others, mainly the 4th. Could possibly have done better with the 3rd scramble where he takes out one of our players but not as much as the 4th.

Mmm, I can see why folk are angry. £50 for me and the little wife to watch that. First half wasn't too bad but 2nd showed what this level is all about . Lack of quality, time wasting, cheating, fake injuries. Poor referee too. Burge is just dreadful, how is that guy still here. Many others gutless too. On a plus side the pies are shit loads better now and the purity golden ale is very nice. Good luck everyone renewing to watch that though !

how much would it have cost if you'd brought the big wife?

I didn't say you (singular) had. I don't really understand your response of 'It's not just about one game though', if you're not blaming Burge for that game as that is all I was referring to?

He can be blamed for a certain goal in the game though, I don't think anybody is saying "Its burges fault for every goal and why we lost the game". Then when you add it to the multiple other howlers people will be more annoyed about it.

I don't think it was a glaring fault, but he should have done better and I do think he could have prevented that goal.

Still annoyed nobody thought to put a crunching tackle in on Rhead then get up and walk off.

Why do I get the impression that if you were manager your training video sessions would be mostly wresting and Kung Fu videos.

Fined a weeks wages if anybody bottles a tackle as well.

I'd have somebody on the bench who is hard as nails to just sent on with the aim to take one of their players out.

I feel like Lincoln are the Barcelona for your style of football. You must have loved last night secretly.

In League 2 it's effective, you just bully other teams.

People can take the piss all they want when I go on about putting a crunching tackle in or just wiping out Rhead early on but it would have worked.

If somebody had thought last night to steam through Rhead and then tell him he's a prick and have a bit of handbags he would have thought twice about strolling round the pitch like he was Messi because he would be watching for the next one.

How often do we see it when the opposition team will just go in and take Doyle out knowing if they do him it will effect us because it gets him wound up?

The minute you let a Rhead or an Akinfenwa start bossing the game with no real challenge that's what they will do.

This the Akinfenwa from Wycombe who we have beat twice this season ?, they didn't do a very good job of bulling us

No but they do a good job of bullying lots of other teams which is why they are 3rd and Akinfenwa has the most assists in League 2 so it obviously works.

Yet another wisecrack attempt with no real point to it or substance, standard.

Accrington and Luton aren't really teams that 'bully' the opposition. They're good footballing sides. Lincoln are very good at what they do, it's horrible to watch, but it's a tactic. There are also many teams up and down the league who try it and aren't very good at it. It's not a recipe for success unless you're good at it which Lincoln have clearly managed to do. Us kicking Rhead wouldn't have stopped him from playing the way he did, this isn't Sunday league...

Luton are still quite a physical side.

Accrington were another who have a game plan and stuck to it. Although they did still bully us.

Don't think we did get bullied by Rhead last night anyway - he didn't need to as we gave him the absolute freedom to drop off the back 4 and roam across the pitch between the lines. Was like watching the stay puft marshmallow guy staggering up Central Park West.

agree, I think its more about knowing what the team are good at and trying to make that work. AS and Luton can play decent football whereas Wycombe and Notts county seem to be more physical All no better or worse but you play to the strengths of the team. These tactics will work well against most teams but there are teams that they wont i.e. Wycombe and Luton against us or Liverpool against Man City.

For me I am not sure what we are good at, we seem to play well playing on the floor at times but then revert to ineffective lumping up the pitch.

Was said with love mate. I agree we need to be a lot more streetwise. Been that way as long as I remember watching City though.

He needed one of these.

Then instead of waiting for him to say something, either stand over him and tell him or just get up and walk off.

Instead he had our back 4 calling him sir by the look of it.

if you look at the challenge JCH got booked for a tackle like that would have had every chance of producing a red.

Doyle did chuck him on the floor first half when he blocked Burge off. One of his 37 stoppages for treatment.

I genuinely thought at the time it was for dissent not the tackle. I thought JCH had said something when he jumped up in reaction to the foul being given against him.

If it was there wasn't much consistency, the Lincoln players were constantly in the refs face.

I didn't even think it was a foul, let alone a booking.

we beat Wycombe twice this season so we didn't let him bully us. I would argue that there is substance in me saying that. Cue the next message when you wont admit you were wrong, standard

That was bullshit, he won the ball and didn't touch the player.

No idea how Bostwick didn't get booked though.

It was bullshit, but if players are getting booked for those type of challenges what do you think will happen if the put in the type of challenges you're advocating?

I didn't say just us did I? I started the post you quoted with this:

In League 2 it's effective, you just bully other teams.

I was talking about the league in general, it clearly works as they are 3rd and Akinfenwa obviously is effective as he has the most assists in the league and 17 goals.

So yes, it was an attempt at a wisecrack which didn't really work. Again.

It isn't just nasty challenges, it's generally roughing the players up, giving them hell, picking on them, getting in their ear.

Only Doyle was willing to do that with Rhead.
