Discuss the Coventry City v Morecambe match, tactics and predictions.

Hope you don't mind me doing this early, Nick. Such a big match and I'm sure we are all itching to talk about it. :)

Home and away table. Morecambe sit 20th in the table on away form and us, 6th on home form.

Morecambe stats:

•Morecambe - No wins in 9

•41 goals scored in 45 matches

•Just 9 wins all season

•No goals scored in their last 3 games

•Failed to score in 6 of their last 12 matches

•Last win was in March v Exeter at home 2-1

•Top scorers: Kevin Ellison and Callum Lang, both with 10 goals each. (Ellison has not scored since February).

•Lang has scored 10 goals in 33 appearances, so appears their main threat.

• Morecambe have won just 3 away games all season.

A draw against us will see them safe and us in the play-offs.

A nailed-on, copper- bottomed banana skin. Will it be Dr Jekyll or Mr Hyde turning up in Sky Blue?

Plain and simple they park the bus big time. And try to pinch a goal via set piece.

Was it Oliver who we made look like a world beater at their place.

Jim Bentley reckons they will come for a win. If they try to do that they will get battered. From those stats they have only conceded 29 away goals all season which respectable. Probably be very hard to break down. Will have to be patiant and try ignore Mansfield game which they will win.

Like you say, their manager has said they are going to come here and attack. I don't think they can afford to park the bus and I don't think they will.

Should make for a very open game.

Has to be an unchanged side and IF we can maintain form from yesterday, this should be a routine victory with a few more goals. Hell, the sun might even make an appearance to warm the crowd. Perfect for building confidence and momentum for the semi and final. Go for it lads. PUSB.

Stick with the same team. As for the score, 2-1 win. Lincoln to win 2-1 meaning if Luton win at Notts we'll finish 5th.

Sorry if it's been covered here - only had a glance at a bit of the thread. Nice to see Carl Baker in the away end and he was really good with fans taking selfies with him (not showing off either). Very funny watching Jordan Shipley's dad going mental in the City end - sat (sort of) in front of me and it was great to see the rapport with fellow supporters (he's obviously so proud of his lad). Great day out, the team were great as were (most of) the fans, Roll on next week - more of the same, please!

Not a cat in hells chance they will come here to attack. All managers will say that. Which manager is going to say he's going to come here looking for a draw.

Disagree.

I think they will attack and I believe him in what he has said. Usually managers will simply say they are going there to win the game. That's quite a bit different to 'we are going to attack.' You don't usually hear managers say that from the position Morecambe are in.

It's usually all just about winning. He made a clear point of coming here to attack and that's what I think they will do.

Time will tell.

The club really should just make this £15 and £10 for concessions now and entice a good crowd in !!

This is actually a somewhat dangerous game. Morecambe need a point to stay up whilst Barnet play Chesterfield. Nonetheless, we need to put them to the sword as we did v Cheltenham.

3-1 win for me.

Morecambe must be favourites to go down now surely you would think.

Barnet must be red hot favourites to beat Chesterfield, which means Morecambe have to get a point.

We are obviously red hot favourites in our game.

I think we will win. Think Morecambe will give it a real good go, but that we will just be too strong for them. 8 goals in our last 2 games from us and we have been looking very dangerous coming forwards.

Not sure on a prediction just yet, will leave it a few days. An injury in training to a key player like Doyle or McNulty could change things dramatically.

Really good place for us to be in right now and I'm sure both Lincoln and Mansfield would jump at the chance of switching places with us.

Chill your boots. This is a different Coventry City, albeit only very, very slightly.

Bottom line is, if we cannot get a draw out of this game we do not deserve a playoff place.

Im relatively confident, just mindful of Kevin Ellison, and Jim Bentley as a manager. Morecambe is a tricky job and he’s been operating in difficult circumstances for a few years seeing off relegation time and time again.

Just hope it’s not a scenario of a club needing a point coming to a big stadium in a cup final feel or face dropping out the league into non league settings.

Ellison is now 39 though and hasn't scored since Feb. He will not be a threat for pace, so we have to just concentrate on his strength and aerial ability. Davies you would think would be the man for that.

At half time if it’s nil nil and the other two results are going against both clubs I think a gentleman’s agreement will be struck

He’s no spring chicken but he’s scored some big goals for Morecambe before, capable of a wonder strike too.

I just think If we’ve learned anything from L2 this year is that nothing is a given.

The division throws up some bizarre and spectacular results like the 2-4 away win for Morecambe at Wycombe which Ellison scored two in.

You may well be right. Hope not though. Would rather see a fair fight.

Interestingly they have only lost 3 games less than us this season, they just draw a hell of a lot of games. A draw being a good result for both of suggests that might be the result. I'll happily sit there bored for 90 minutes and it finish 0-0.

But surely at 0-0 we wouldn't be bored and would be biting our nails. Just one even freak goal or dodgy pen and it could end in tatters.

I think Grendel is right, if it is 0-0 at half time it might well get very cautious, but for the first 45 I think both teams will really go for it.

Was in the same row as Baker - about 8 seats to the right - just looked - seat C60 (got asked to move further to the right by a couple of seats by a group of nice blokes (not being sarcastic) to squeeze some mates in, which I happily did (without a fight breaking out) !

Simple score 4 goals. And if we lose by one goal. We go through on goals scored.
We have to attack and go all out to score goals.

Crawley are atrocious at the moment even Cheltenham scored 5 at their place recently. So I fear Mansfield will batter them. But will be in vain.

Confident of a win. As long as we start purposefully and are fully on it.

I'm not so sure Crawley are that attrocious to be honest.

They were on a bad run, but the last 5 games they have won 1, drawn 2 and lost 2 and their last draw was away against Exeter, so they do have it in them to get something at Mansfield. Definitely a possibility they can get a point there next Saturday.
