Coventry and the surrounding areas of the WMCA goes to the poll today to choose their councillors which could give a greater say to the WM Mayor which was forced upon us by Coventry Labour.

The good news though is the possibility of getting rid of Kevin Maton from the council.

What changes would you make?

I'll be voting Green as usual.......

....it speaks volumes about what the British truly value that my first vote for the Greens in the early 90's was merely a protest vote......and nearly 30 years on, it still fucking is.

I will also be publicly berating anyone in the polling station queue carrying a take-out coffee......

Labour the only party to send me a leaflet... and they posted it twice in a matter of days!

Now local elections are rather different to national, that I can be swayed if somebody seems to actually be bothered about local issues. As nobody else seems to be or want to try and sell me their dream, it seems nobody else wants to represent me.

Don’t they know you are mostly a Labour voter so the others save their time and money. I know that happens

Labours 5 key points,
1) maintain budget while opposing government austerity. (The council clearly have Corbyn bottomless purse)
2) continue Godiva festival?!?! Whilst a agree that Godiva brings a lot to the City and should carry on as year on year it's growing in size and popularity, should it really be in Labour's top 5 priorities? FFS.

Labour really are becoming the laughing stock of politics. They couldn't even win the general elections with 1000s of students voting twice for them. Clowns.

I don't think they assess whether to knock on your door based on you individually but more based on the ward you're in. If it's a strong Labour area the tories probably won't bother with it and vice versa.

You know full well it was a policy foisted by Osbourne and Central Govt ,and funding driven.
Under the guise of devolvement, but in my view deriliction of and for responsibility

Generally vote for one of the smaller parties in local elections, greens, someone like that.
Will be voting Labour this time, I like the local candidate but in general the local Labour mob are tossers and I had a good chat with one of the canvassers who told me that they were indeed an old boys clique which confirmed everything I thought.
However, I like the thought of giving a bloody nose to the local tory wankers who are next to useless as well and that will at least give me a little bit of amusement. I'm told it's going to be close.

DId Coventry Labour agree to abide by the spending review when joining the WMCA?

Yeah there is when cocks who start threads knowing full well the cuts highlighted are driven through swingeing cuts to Central grants and Council tax freezes, duplicitous deception .
It won't change much though the good folk of Coventry will resoundingly reject such crap and the Country will get the oportunity soon enough with the cretins currently doing their worst .
The current leader has all the popularity of Thatcher but isn't 25 % as effective although it takes some going to be twice as nasty .

Not a fan, then? (although I agree about local government funding, and how it's a way to devolve the blame from central government)

Look I agree it should not be and we had a referendum but it's at Govt behest ,I've been mentiioning on here for a while were federalising the Country which is what we're supposed to be escaping from in the EU .
London is acting like Brussels ,there is less and less accountability and Cohesion is evaporating across the globe.

Surrey along with Somerset, Norfolk and Lancashire all virtually bankrupt, Northamptonshire actually bankrupt. All tory.

Apologies I was referring to the one re the Mayor, same thing really, probably foolish to have fallen in,, but then most of Warwickshire came to the same conclusion in the end, not easy to be isolationist.
It still rests with Osborne.

They're liars the lot of them on Coventry Coouncil. On a personal note, they opened up a 'half way house' with the salvation army right outside the main gates of Caludon Castle school. Various labour councillers at the meetings Promised that they wouldn't allow any sex offenders or people with violent histories in the accommodation there and guess what? They've only gone back on their word.Right opposite the fucking school gates is a half way house which houses peado's and the like.Lying is second nature to them.

Closer than you' think in my ward. Can' help but think if the conservatives had done some campaigning, it could have been nervy.
