Liverpool Fans In Rome (1 Viewer)

Liverpool fans have been told to not go anywhere on their own, not to walk to the stadium, but to get on buses, and after the match they'll be locked in for two hours. Blimey I thought it was bad on away trips in the 70's/80's but that sounds like a war zone. Bet those Italian Ultras love all this make them sound really dangerous. Then again are they as I've never been to an Italian match ?

The behaviour of the shitehouse Italians and others in the modern day and how UEFA let them get away with it tells you everything you need to know about the English teams European ban in the 80s. Hooliganism was a convenient excuse for breaking the absolute dominance of British teams.

Reminds me of going regularly to Molineux for our "battles" with Wolves. As soon as we got to Wolverhampton we'd be like meerkats, looking around waiting to be attacked !

All pretty standard now I’m afraid. Some of the Italians I’ve come across wanted to kill us just for being English. There is deep routed hatred towards us over there. The police aren’t much better. Some say I’m mad for going to Russia. The Carabinieri make Putin’s black shirted mates look like the Teletubbies.

We were told not to be alone on the streets in Bratislava at night due to safety concerns. When I asked why as the Slovaks seemed like a relatively peaceful bunch I was told it’s the law enforcement we needed to aware of. What we witnessed later that day confirmed that.

You're wrong. I'm getting pissed off more and more by what we are seeing on away trips and I've said so on a number of occasions. I think that the England following is no better or worse than any club when it comes to behaviour. 1% behave like twats. 99% don't.

In Italy in the 1990 world cup you'd have Italians riding scooters with the guy on the back going past England fans trying to stab them,Good old days!!

What nonsense.

You'd be just as likely to have idiots here who'd want to kill Italians or have deep hatred for them. On the whole Italian football fans have a lot of respect for the English.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on that. Can only speak as you find.

I've lived there and have an Italian partner and had a ST at Hellas Verona and never once encountered any hatred or hostility.

Would it be fair to tar all English football fans with the same brushed based on Heysel?

I never said they all are. I said some. By a good amount of Juventus fans we are though. Torino were superb. Funny you mention Hellas as the Chievo fans were very friendly too.

Consistently the worst away fans at HR back in the day, probably best as the Italians won't take any shit

Would agree albeit I would put it at about 5% idiots but we are unfortunately tarred with the reputation of our past. We are seen as a prize by some nations thuggery still which is sad. Stay safe in Russia fella
