From my armchair
Burge 7
Grimmer 6 - should have wellied it for their goal but kept going
Stokes 6 - quite conservative but difficult after that unfair yellow
Davies 8 - headed everything
Hyam 7 - did OK
Kelly 7 - kept us ticking over, him and Doyle won numerous loose balls
Doyle 7 - as Kelly
Bayliss 7 - got that bit of magic, they'll be scared of him second leg
Shipley 5 - too many bad decisions, blind passes, in fairness he doesn't hide
Biamou 6 - great first half but faded second
McNulty 7 - good movement as per and nerves of steel

Subs
Ponti 6 - worked hard and kept trying to keep our momentum up
JCH 7 - added something as their centre backs were comfortable

Burge 7 - solid game , caught everything and no chance with the goal , but his kicking is awful!
Stokes - 7 yellow didn’t help him but much more sound at the back instead of Haynes
Hyam - 8 never looked threatened
Davies -8 won most of it and again very solid
Grimmer - 5 at fault for the goal , just clear the ball and man , can’t cross a ball to save his life
Bayliss - 8 oozes quality and would shine even more in a higher league with bettter quality around him
Doyle -8 again the yellow card didn’t help him but we would be a lot worse off without him
Kelly - 6 nothing to bad but nothing to good either
Shipley - 6 same as kelly , love his commitment
McNulty - 9 (8 without the goal ) never stops and always a threat , glad he still got a year on his contract
Biamou - 6 attacking wise he wins a few headers but never really go to anyone , can’t fault his work rate and always helps out at the back , but he is paid to score goals and only seems to score a screamer every now and again

Subs

Give them both 5 - Ponticelli is a striker so if you bring him on don’t put him on the wing, Harris again didn’t to much either to be honest

Burge 7 - fine overall.
Grimmer 6 - looked like he flapped a tackle for their goal, but not sure.
Stokes 6 - went a bit mental too early.
Davies 8 - decent.
Hyam 7 - one big fuck up otherwise good.
Kelly 6.5 - Better second half.
Doyle 6.5 - Better first half.
Bayliss 8 - Probably MOTM.
Shipley 5.5 - Struggled a little.
Biamou 5.5 - hiding too much I think.
McNulty 8 - Needed more support. Looked alive though and banged that penalty.

Subs
Ponti 6 - was alright. Tried hard.
JCH 7 - start him next week.

I think we were unlucky with the conditions, I think that played into Notts County’s favour as controlling the ball was difficult for both sides.

Burge, 6 - wasn’t really tested, nearly caught out by a looping header, beat by a fantastic goal
Grimmer, 6 - bottled the tackle that lead to their goal, but otherwise his work rate and defence was good
Davies, 8 - handled everything, a definite first choice for me alongside Willis.
Hyam, 7 - defended well, looks good alongside Davies
Stokes, 6 - defended well, but I don’t think we click with him as a full back
Doyle, 6 - had a period where he gave everything away, couldn’t really control the ball with the conditions. But his defence, work rate and pressing is second to none
Kelly, 6 - I like him in his new role, today he was linked up well, but surrendered possession a few times like Doyle
Shipley, 6 - won a few headers, linked up ok, but ultimately, I think Reid would’ve suited the conditions better
Bayliss, 7 - missed a good opportunity in the 1st where he should’ve at least made the GK work for it
McNulty, 7 - good pen, hit the post, but think he can do better
Biamou, 6 - conditions would’ve probably suited JCH more, his job of shielding the ball was v difficult with the ball getting stuck, thought he did well in the circumstances

Subs:

JP, 6 - worked really hard and helped defend well, but he’s not a wide player, we’re wasting him out there.
JCH, 6 - not really on long enough to have that much of an impact, but I thought he made a good impact when he came on.

We really made things difficult for ourselves by not taking our 1st half chances. We kept them at bay with relative ease aside from a very good finish. I was the other side of the stadium, but I was very shocked we got a penalty. A draw is a fair result I feel.

Grimmer still can't cross. :(

I also thought Biamou got outfought a bit tonight.

Need to watch the game back, but Stokes' card seemed harsh and I don't know how the ref missed most of the blocks by their players.

And didn't Hyam make two bad errors, both of which could have resulted in goals?

Bit harsh on grimmer saying he bottled it for the goal, perhaps misjudged it, their left back ran a good 30/40 yards in about 7 seconds to make it there, and got very lucky with the way the ball ran for him, should he have just slid in and get it out of play, but don’t think he shirked the challenge just an error in judgement

Yes so it was an error On his part , it’s a playoff semi final , just clear the bloody lot out, man and ball and put it in row z , then they wouldn’t of scored!

In fairness Shipley put their defenders under pressure in the boggy bit and forced a few errors. He certainly has the right intentions when playing the ball forward. Kelly is a very tidy player but just takes the safe option all the time. Although our fans need to be more patient when we are passing and keeping possession. Agree Doyle and Kelly played a big part tonight.

That's how I saw it
Not helped at all the way the ball Held up.

Some ridiculous confirmation bias on here. Doyle was anonymous after his yellow, neutered himself, and anyone rating Kelly lower than him needs a cold shower.
That performance was heavily influenced by the pitch. We were unlucky to be attacking the waterlogged quadrant first half and would have battered them on a decent pitch. Robins pre match interview gave his tactics away - 'Biamou's come back in to play a specific role'

Burge 7 didn’t do much wrong on a nightmare surface
Grimmer 5 poor game but not sure I would blame him for the goal, big slice of luck but poor crossing
Stokes 6 doesn’t get forward quick enough
Davies 7 decent game
Hyam 7 same
Doyle 5 not his best game, yellow card silenced him
Kelly 6 urging him to go forward but didn’t, always looked involved
Bayliss 7.5 decent talent, a few stray passes
Shipley 5 poor game, needed a workmanlike performance tonight but lacking
Mcnulty 8 worked hard all over the pitch
Biamou 6 worked well, won headers but no one around

Ponticelli 5 didn’t contribute much, don’t like him wide
Jch 5 not enough time to impact the game

Burge 8 saves and claiming...1 for kicks. Can't we just get someone to take them for him like youth football.
Grimmer 5 dodgy crossing. Give him the benefit of the doubt with that sticky patch of water with their goal, should have row z'd really
Stokes 6 fine
Davies 9 becoming a fave. Heads everything
Hyam 8 decent. Really are not lacking in CBs
Doyle 6 wasnt nasty enough but still managed to get a yellow
Kelly 5 anonymous
Bayliss 8 class, sad but he'll be off in the summer
Shipley 5 like him but didnt shine
Mcnulty 8 couple of good efforts and never doubted he'd score the peno
Biamou 7 worked his socks off, usefull defensively not really a threat

Pobticelli 6 out wide but put in a shift cleared a few balls
Jch 7 worried their defence

2nd leg we need to realise we are not going to break them down with crosses or win anything from corners. First half when we broke at pace we looked very dangerous, pitch hampered our game more than theirs so hopefully it'll be dryer

Biamou wins most headers but we don’t have a striker who reads his knock downs, if we did he could score a hat full.

McNulty is never close enough to him, we don't utilise it like teams like Lincoln. Some of them were decent tonight but only McNulty was up there and not reading them.

Burge 6 - Nothing wrong but a bit shaky from corners.
Grimmer 4 - Slight mistake from the goal. Very weak going forward.
Davies - 8 Superb in the air.
Hyam - 7 Decent.
Stokes - 5 - Truly painful to watch going forward.

Doyle 7.5 - Worked incredibly hard. Frustrating to watch him being our playmaker.
Kelly 4 - Out of position all game.
Bayliss 7 - The one man willing to run at them.
Shipley 5 - Decent at times in the first half but very weak in the second.

McNulty 7 - One of the biggest moments in his career for the penalty and did well. Not on the ball enough. Needs to read Biamou's flick on better.
Biamou 6 - Not as effective as the previous few weeks. Worked hard and won plenty of headers.

Robins 6 - Kelly didn't look comfortable out wide. JCH should have come on when Ponti was introduced.

Some on here are very harsh on Shipley and Grimmer, first half their side of the pitch was a lake ffs and big advantage to forwards, I thought It was an error by Grimmer for their goal but watching it on telly Grimmer was impeded by the conditions to be fair. Doyle man of the match for me. Burge very good, Our forwards play too far apart but overall I thought we played well. We will win Friday.

Thought Grimmer was really, really poor tonight. The goal was completely on him, he bottled it simple as. In those conditions the first thought of the defender should be to simply get the ball out of that area and away from the goal. The longer it stays in the weather affected area of the pitch the more unpredictable it becomes. No excuses for not winning that ball. Attacking wise he was really lacklustre as well. He has the ball a lot in attacking positions but hardly threatens the opposition. His crossing is laughably bad, we're lucky if 1 out of 5 crosses even finds its man. It's the sign of someone with a very poor footballing brain to constantly try the same thing that clearly isn't working.

Christ now it’s 24 goal mcnultys fault for not reading where the ball bounces off Biamous head - Notts defenders had an easy night

Earlier on you said he didn't win a header.

I am saying it's pointless flicking things on when we aren't playing to pick up on it or gamble from it. McNulty is the only more advanced player, when you watch teams like Lincoln or Wycombe do it they have about 3 or 4 players to pick up on them.

He won very few headers and was the poorest forward for either team by a country mile.

Extra point to whoever stamped on Duffy and got away with it, they clearly didn't like their own medicine up them.
It was Davies. Unfortunately for him, Sky were all over the incident and it is likely that, if the referee confirms he didn't see it, there will be retrospective action. It didn't look good, and they seemed to think he hasn't heard the last of it. May mean his season is over.

He won the majority of headers throughout the game.

No he didn’t - tell me do you think Notts county would want him in their team? Yes or no?

How many Notts county fans left that ground who even noticed he was on the pitch?

Oh hello again Grendel. Good to see you have started mentioning Biamou again. I didn't hear much after JCH came in and had a shocker last week or after his brilliant performance against Cheltenham.

Today was his poorest game for a few months and yet he it was still a respectable performance.
