Aside from football, cars are my other big interest. My Grandad worked at Standard-Triumph, Dad has worked for just about every UK car maker there is or ever was so it's inevitable i would be a petrol head.

Would be interested to see what motors you all drive, doesn't matter what it is, as long as you have an interest in it.

My present fleet consists of a not-very-interesting but useful Citroen Picasso which handles the daily duties and serves as family transport and then 3 toys – 1969 Triumph 2.5 Pi Saloon, 1968 Triumph Vitesse Convertible and a 1994 Ford Fiesta Mk3.

Just normal family cars nowadays.

Never going to bring back the days of RS turbos that are spitting flames when you take your foot off the accelerator :(

Usually worked best when going under the sports centre in town when it's rammed with students to watch them all absolutely shit themselves when it pops. Would probably have anti terror police dragging you out at gunpoint now :(

Do like the older fords, had Xr2i, Xr2 and RS Turbos in my youth. Then had a Megane Sport and Audi TT V6 but they weren't really as much fun.

I like the Vitesse. In the late '60s/early 70s I borrowed a Herald from my mate for a few days. He'd fitted an SU carburetter and done a couple of other mods to it. I absolutely loved driving that car, and the position of the gear lever was really great.

Herald was my first car and I've had 3 in total

My '65 1200 that I bought in 2003. Had 2 Herald estates prior to this one but don't have photos of them to hand. This one i sold to a guy who shipped it to Ireland and its the only one i regret selling, should have kept it.

Just clocked that in your OP. Very rare beast in a Mk1 shell. Think they only did them right at the end of the Mk1 production run IIRC. You’ll know better than me.
Spot on, just made for one year, 68-69. Was intended to launch in 1966 but problems with the injection system delayed it. Now a massive PITA as its mechanically very different to a standard mk1 2000 and the rear floorpan is different too. Yet it's also quite different from a mk2 PI because they had all that extra development time to iron stuff out for the later car. Consequently mk1 Pi's are tricky to get certain parts for and a bugger to work on. Compensation is it's more powerful and lighter than a mk2 by some margin so goes better than it has a right to.

They are genuinely next generation cars, as soon as the superchargers are all over the place they'll take over.
I think the battery tech has got to improve and become cheaper before they genuinely go mainstream. Will be interesting to see what happens in the next year or so as the first wave of Graphene batteries become commercially available

Mk1 is my favourite triumph of all time and yours is especially nice (apart from the wheels ;) ). If my numbers come up on the Euro’s tonight I’ll PM you later.

My old 1961 Vauxhall Cresta. Bloody loved that car! Column change gears, overdrive, blue leather bench seats front and rear. Fabulous! This is me back in the early 80's giving it the weekly wash and polish!

1965 Vauxhall Viva SL (my first car).
1972 Sunbeam Stiletto,
1972 VW Karmann Ghia,
1974 Fiat X1/9 (fantastic car),
1983 Mercedes 230e,
1967 Fiat 600D,
1965 Cadillac De Ville convertible,
1966 Cadillac Coupe De Ville,
1987 VW Vanagon.
Found photos of a Sunbeam Stiletto identical to the one I had. Signal Red paint, black vinyl roof, black interior.
I love Triumph Heralds/Vitesses and always wanted to own one, but never did.

I have a boring list of cars at the moment. But wife is planning to move house in the next year so have put my next plan on hold. Been looking for a Triumph Stag without rust everywhere :rolleyes:

What I have now

Toyota Corolla Verso T180 2008
Saab convertible 2.0 T 2003
MG TF convertible 1.8 2003
Mercedes E class 2.5 7 seater 2000

And then my baby. Fiat Coupe which is my track car with a stupid amount of BHP. The buzz you get when flying past daddys little rich boy in his Ferrari on a straight makes it worth everything.

All the cars I have presently cost between £750 and £1,500. The most expensive upkeep is the road tax at nearly £100 a month :wideyed:

My MR2 Turbo Japanese import that has 18k's worth of modifications, de-badged, forged pistons, massive turbo upgrade, digital boost control for the turbo, fully adjustable Apexi coilovers, TSW wheels, turbo timer, huge brake upgrade with vented discs, torsion bars, carbon air intakes, massive cooling system upgrade that lives in the boot, etc, etc......not everyone's cup of tea but I loved them as a kid so I bought the best one I could find when I was able to afford it.

I must say mate, I can't stop looking at the Triumph saloon, It's a thing of beauty, the grey paint is perfect, is that it's original colour?

Has anybody looked at buying an old classic as a project? Talked about it with the wife and had a look about for an old RS Turbo or something that needs some work, they are going for about £3k just for sheds. Madness.

RS Turbo's are fetching massive money now, you are right, you will get the log book and a pile of rust for 3k. I mate of mine is threatening to get rid of his Renault 5 GT Turbo that he has had for 20 + years, It needs loads of work but I'm seriously tempted.

They are silly money as well, looked at all of the decent turbos of that era and they go for loads.

Looking back I wish I would have kept mine :(

Nah never had one of those.

Mine was pretty much like this, took it for a bit of work and a remap and they didn't put a hose on properly. Wondered why it felt rapid one night on the A444 and then saw the boost guage fly way higher than it should and then the smoke came. Needed a car for work so had to get something newer, it sat on my drive for months so sold it for £800 as at the time I had no money to get it fixed or do anything with it :(

I love them, I had a red XR3i cabriolet same shape, my mate had an RS Turbo exactly like that but in white with a grey leather interior and I was so envious, the Recaro's were amazing
