Next vote sees a bid win that'll include Mexico hosting the tournament for the third time.

Hmm, may sound a bit conspiracy theorist, but if they were allowed to nip to a quick ad or two during a game, when say a player was down injured, that would leave things open for match fixing.

Company wants their ad on TV, player is paid to go down injured in a certain minute of the game etc.

Is there any other game in US where they can't go to ads every 10-15 mins or so?

Can't think of any. Baseball, basketball, American football, golf, tennis, ice hockey, cricket, boxing, all have stoppages where the TV company go go to commercials.

Do they go to ads in F1?

I think it's a great idea. Two out of three teams go through.

Means you can be pretty crap and progress and isn't that exactly what the World Cup is all about.

Next step needs to be groups of two with tthe top two teams going through.

They do dual screen ads for the F1 I believe, so the race is still shown on one half of the screen/on a mini screen in the corner but the commentary is muted and the ad takes precedence. Can see them doing something similar for the World Cup if someone is down receiving treatment etc.

I agree, don't think we're too far from a constant scrolling banner across the bottom of the screen with ads on either

I tend to now watch RedZone unless the Skins or Pats are playing.

If I am watching just the one live game I flit between the screen and my tablet.

They are not bothered about the competition nor the quality, it is all about reach. The more countries it reaches the more opportunity for its corporate sponsors. It's time an alternative football federation was formed, but then again I don't think national FAs, ours in particular are that bothered about the game.

It would only take a few of the big nations to break away and the whole house of cards would come down but I don’t think there is an appetite for it in any FAs.

With the euros ruined, they want to d9 the same here. I am all for it being a proper world tournament but the focus has gone to trying to righting the balance rather than getting the best at the cup. We will see more and more European teams fail to qualify in place of crap nations from mid America or Africa
