I think Jonathon Pearce and Keown have been to the Eakin school of commentary.
Pearce doesn't know who's playing, and they call goal when it was obviously wide.

Keown is decent and in fairness to them I thought it was a goal at first too.

My initial thought was it was wide. Then way net moved thought it was in. Then way ball came out it was clearly wide.

Can’t believe Uruguay so poor at the minute. Really thought they would walk this group

Very poor half from Uruguay. In a group they'd expect to be very strong in, they've looked poor. Suarez hasn't been his best, have to wonder if he's fully fit. Just not been at the races.

Had Russia down as poss runners up but more likely 3rd. First game showed how wrong I am

All of us. I did think they would do okay and maybe quality for the knockout phase, but never dreamed they would thrash anyone.

Is there actually reason the VAR officials can't say to the ref that a player has clearly dived and should be booked? Or can they apply it after the game using the video footage? Just seems incredulous that there wasn't a yellow for it.

Thought the whole point was they could identify things during the game.

Can't see why he now can't be booked at half time.

Hopefully there will be retrospective action. Clearest dive I think I’ve seen. Ref doesn’t get the angle we did so has to be var for obvious cheating.

That's what I thought. He has to be booked retrospectively for It, surely? Otherwise what point is there having the system?

Just not Suarez's day today. Should have scored 2, and he's got neither of them.

And now they do score. They absolutely do not deserve to win this but surely now they will.

Every player who entered the field in that celebration should be booked.

Saudi Arabia looked awful and Egypt have tired badly has Ramadan not helped them? Maybe they needed slightly later fixtures
