Iceland defend very well. There always seems to be a white shirt in the way, and Messi always has at least two or three on him. Argentina always seem to run into dead ends.

But they get a penalty, and it's saved!

It was a poor penalty. For how good he is, his record at penalties hasn't been the best.

Messi has been poor. Iceland, though, are a very hard team to beat. Very disciplined defense, very organised, very hard to break down.

Messi was poor, but exactly the same as our game against them they couldn’t break them down

Rio Ferdinand: Peru only kept 2 clean sheets out of 18 in qualifying, I'm sure the Norwegians will take note of that

Great research Rio, glad you're paying attention

A bit surprised that wasn't sent for VAR, but to be honest they seem picky about what does get reviewed.

Ref was very certain wasn't he.
Benefit of cameras at home.
Individual refs taking different approach .
Far worse than some of those given earlier .

I think that's the big problem with it. The ref can be very sure he's right, therefore not review it but still be wrong. If the system isn't going to be used in those cases on a consistent basis, then what is it for?

That was a funny one penalising farfan who was on the ball where the opposite play came at a rush from ten yards and launched himself out of control for the last five.

Not sure Farfan did too much wrong for that last free kick either, just seemed to outmuscle the guy.

Bloody hell, I am flitting between the rugby, the cricket and the football and for a second there I thought I had switched back to the football, but it was obviously the rugby, but then I thought, that's the first time I was ever aware that Peru played rugby.

On target is surely the minimum requirement of any professional footballer, especially the main penalty taker

rule of thumb, if it's kicks off on the pitch and the tannoy starts playing 80s pop you're watching rugby!
What the hell is that all about, take on me and karma chameleon as accompaniment to some fisticuffs?!

Been some poor free kicks today, too many into the wall or just not enough on them.
