Is this the most exciting pre-season EVER? (1 Viewer)

Aren't students from anywhere bringing money into the city. Most the foreign students when I was at Uni were fairly well off.

I think (hope) he’s taking the piss.

It’d be like whining about those engineers from outside Cov getting employed by JLR.

I'm excited about the quality in the addition of the arivals so far, but hope it doesn't unbalance the team spirit etc. I trust Robins but last season not just on the pitch, was special. I also hope the progreas of some of our young talent that's been the mainstay isn't stifled by arrivals as we have some talent in not only Bayliss, Shipley and Ponti but also coming through.

the club getting promoted is priority. not youth development

that said both can happen under robins

Does anyone think that this team could well be better than the side Mowbray put together?
Robins is good but we can't expect him to be able to replace Darius Henderson, Steven Hunt, Peter Ramage and Joe Cole!

Not to mention super "worth the wait" Kelvin Wilson.

Mowbray turned around a team that had almost been relegated to one that was challenging for two thirds of the season. He did this mainly with the use of loans, the acquisition of Vincelot and the form of Fleck. This team has momentum, they are more settled and have shown in cups games last season that they can beat teams in this league. I think we can make a serious bid for promotion again.

Exactly, and the squad generally has more depth too, especially at centre back! A few more signings and I will definitely start to believe.

With last year’s squad was probably good enough to survive in L1, possibly even around mid table. The gap between L2 and L1 isn’t that big, with all promoted teams finishing in the top half, bar Donny, last season.

Depends how you look at it being negative of those we have signed only two Brown and Ogogo are likely to go straight into the team but then on a positive front add Jones and Andrue to them into what had become a pretty good team at the tail end of last season there’s every cause to be excited. And there’s more to come I reckon.

Allassani and JCH could be staters depending on the system Robins go with. Our main priorities this window was building squad depth, if we’re to challenge for playoffs and above, we can’t be having Vincenti or DeKE playing RM (I know both will end up leaving, or has left).

And turned us into s mid-table rabble, I’ll always wonder what team he was watching as opposed to me

It’s surely only a matter of time until our dreams are smashed with McNulty and Bayliss being sold for a combined fee of half a tube of Pringles and some pocket lint and then being kicked out of the Ricoh.

Depends what flavour pringles. Ray Mears will tell you of the value of pocket lint - When that bus breaks down on the way back from Scunny or Plymouth next January, Mcnulty's already 20+ goal tally for his new club will be forgotten as 30 odd people huddle around a camp fire, awaiting rescue.
I'm indifferent to the last one to be honest.

I'm excited for this season. I think a couple more additions and no losses and we will have a real chance of being top 10.

The team we have at the moment is a lot better than the one we got relegated with. It's hard to say but I genuinely believe challenging for promotion is possible.

Yup, any youth will benefit from us being in a higher division. If they aren’t up to it then that’s what the loan market is for.

I see no reason why Shipley, Bayliss, and Ponticelli wouldn’t be challenging in the current squad.

You’re indifferent to leaving the Ricoh again?

Maddison injury and then sale (he didn’t perform when on loan) and the decision to allow OBrien to leave, plus the injury to Johnson cost us dear. It was still an excellent turn around from being on the brink of relegation in the last game of the previous season to finishing eighth the next. The point I think is that this team is better than that one. If they managed that finish, can this team not do better? Another out and out goalscorer to support McNulty would be good. Maybe that is Ponticelli or Max if he continues his goal scoring form from the end of the season.

You need to take the half glass full outlook!!!!
We might be kicked out of The Ricoh by Wasps! We might move in at Wembley now that's free!

Hold on a minnit :) People complained about travelling 30 odd miles to watch Cov at Norfampton. Imagine the moaning about a 180 mile round trip for home games :)

The most exciting pre season for me was when we signed Hadji and also the one where we signed Robert Jarni
