Alex Rodman incoming? (3 Viewers)

Shrews have just announced he has left to join an unnamed rival club. A few sites (not credible just yet) saying he is on his way to Coventry.

Not convinced we need a 31 year old winger.

He can play both LM and RM I think. Sceptical about this, with Bayliss, Jones and Sterling able to play on the right what's the point in bringing in a player who's likely to demand good money to compete with 3 other players?

We do need a LM to be fair. And if Robins is going to play Sterling at RB there’s not much cover. Harsh on Shipley though.

Didn’t Deity say he wasn’t on our radar?

According to the Shrews fans they wouldn't be surprised if he came to us. Apparently he hails from Solihull....

We are awash with wing forwards if you include Shipley. The chap from Dulwich, Jones, Stirling, plus Saint Thomas Bayliss

Will SISU let us terminate contracts of the likes of Vincenti and Beavon? There are costs attached. We might be stuck with them.
An aged winger does not seem Robbins' style-not least after the failure of Vincenti and in a different position but the same principle, Beavon. The only veteran that has worked has been Doyle and he is a special case

Why would a club buy him when he's still recovering and more crucially when would we sell him when we don't need to

With medical advances and recovery methods, many players are coming back from knee injuries with a lot of success. If someone bid for him now they'd get a better price than if they waited for him to regain form, etc. Might be worth a chance for someone but I don't want to see him go.

i just look at the make up of squad he is assembling and think jones will go also i can see us playing wing backs this year with a back 3

Maybe he thinks our wide attacking options are a bit young and inexperienced so would like to put someone a bit older in to help with game management. Same principle as Vincenti but hopefully more successful.

I understand the fact he's not crocked but his current injury will inevitably bringing his stock down. So why would we sell for less than what he's truly worth when we don't need to? From my knowledge he hasn't even been linked with anyone. Might be worth a chance for who though? It's highly unlikely we'd sell to another League One club and a Championship club wouldn't even acknowledge our asking price for him given his recent injury.

This is the most likely reason he'd join. Sufficient game time would still be questionable though. Considering he played 55 times for the Shrews last season I'm struggling to think he'd match this considering who he'll be competing with in the squad if he signed.

What are you lot on doubting Rodman because of age? 31 is no age these days, have you heard of a guy called Michael Doyle ? We need players to make us serious promotion contenders THIS season so a 31 year old provern player on a two year contract at this level to me fits the bill, the likes of Allassini, Bosma, Williams maybe Westbrooke are for the future if they prove their ability. Of course I don’t know if this Rodman rumour is true or not but if it is I’ll welcome him gleefully, was a main man of serious promotion candidates Shrewsbury.,

Doyle is the exception NOT the rule.
Rodman does not play in a position that we currently need cover for, I think it’s a case of people putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5!
Beware of internet rumours.

I wouldn't worry about his age, 31's nothing really when our captain's 36 and not missing a beat.
Yep, 31 doesn't bother me. Would be a bit more concerned if he was another 2 or 3 years older, but he should have a couple of seasons in him and by then I don't think he would get anywhere near our Premier League squad.

Agree with what you're saying, we'd be foolish to sell now when we would get a lot more when he's recovered or even reached closer to his full potential.

I'd be astonished if he was sold as there's zero logic to it. He's still got 2 years left on his contract, is loved by the fans and Robins, and he knows he's going to get serious game time in a team that many are tipping for outside promotion to the Championship if recruitment continues to be as effective as it currently is.

Think Robins is working on the cloughy principle of getting players to win the division your in and getting players to play in there proper position .
yeh shipley and bayliss were plan b and season came down to 1 game

great talent yes but we shud take no risks with trying to get success

If he can hold the ball well he could be a good bench option when we need to kill off games in the Champions League the year after.

Those worrying about Bayliss or Shipply for matter should remember they are still very much rookies with about 60 matches between them, they still need time to blossom and I believe they will. Playing with better players will see them improve no end
