I don't know what was worse, Dier's performance or Clive Tydlesley commentary, he truly is an awful commentator with his comment in the first half about best memories always come from world cups the most inane one

Obviously he wasn’t behind the goal in ‘87 when Houchin launched himself. What a numpty

A very dangerous team at times, Colombia.

We shouldn't have been looking at the path AFTER the Colombia match.

People are blowing this well out of proportion.

We can beat Colombia easily. They aren't very good. Then we will beat Switzerland whilst Belgium lose to Brazil. It is a no brainer.

It was short sighted to just look at the next game. We could have beaten either Japan or Colombia. I back us alot more against Switzerland than Brazil.

People are reading too much into the Belgium game. We played our second team and lost 1-0.

Calm down FFS,

And Belgium didn't play their second team?

We looked very much second best and a bit clueless tonight.

And this path we are now on means it is likely we will face Spain doesn't it?

Not making too much of it, but I wanted a decent performance from the team tonight and we didn't get it and there were some worrying individual efforts too, which worries me if we get injuries.

Play Spain in the semis yes, literally the only other good team on that side.

The other route has Brazil, Argentina, France, and Portugal.

It's an absolute no brainer and I am happy with this.

All of that group are dire. If we can’t beat them then we aren’t good enough. Any team would bite your arm off for the passage we have to the semis.
That performance tonight concerns me. Clearly second best and first half it appeared that Belgium wanted to grab that second spot rather than us.

Well I am never, ever happy with a defeat and it's our first defeat in a year isn't it?

Find it all rather deflating.

We lost, we didn't play well and we looked a bit lost and clueless.

I can never, ever be happy after a defeat.

This is England.

I can easily see us now struggling against Colombia.

If we win the whole thing this will be the tiniest footnote in history.

Would still irk me.

Never want the City to lose and never want England to lose. :)

And if we win the thing the hard route, having to beat Brazil and France and /or Croatia it would be all the more pleasing for sure.

We could look back and say we beat all the best teams in the world.

Winning the World Cup is winning the World Cup, but it would be all the more glorious if we beat France and Brazil on the way!

Sums up what we probably knew already. 1st team decent, back up players average at best.
Keeper remains a concern as well.

Yeah. Belgium can be happy they have very decent backups. Us? Not nearly good enough (Jones, Dier, Vardy).

Calm down FFS,

Whatever happened to wanting to win games? Shows how little faith some have in our ability that we actively seek to avoid playing half decent teams. If you're good enough you don't care who comes in the next round.

True but I think a lot of England fans are getting too carried away, we are no better than the swedes or Swiss in my opinion and could lose to either.

Agree, we are not good enough to win it so let’s keep that winning momentum going.

Yep there second team was far superior, I would have liked us to have played Kane and then brought him off but we were not looking for the win so was never going to happen

Exactly and I would have fancied us against anyone to be honest.

This second 11 though, not against anyone.

We still don't know how the draw will pan out and it could well be that Mexico beat Brazil. Entirely feasible.

But you're right. I am happy to be see us maybe coming up against Sweden or Switzerland down the line, but I cannot be happy with a defeat. Losing is losing and never feels good.

We will see, this is going to bite us on the arse
It may well do. But to say that Sweden and Switzerland are on our level is bull. We would and should be massive favourites in that game.
I'm more worried about Colombia tbh.

Don’t know why you would be so confident? We haven’t played anyone of class yet. They have and come through it

Sweden got beat by a dross German team. And struggled to beat South Korea.
Switzerland should have been knocked out by Serbia had the var worked properly.

We are capable of beating both. We are also well capable of losing to both too.

I am too. Think it is going to be tough and I don't like teams that run at us with pace.

Depends how Colombia set out their stall.

Calm down FFS,

And I thought Newcastle fans were deluded ;) Colombia are a very decent team and England will not beat them 'easily'.

I agree Columbia are a threat and are the team I'd like to have avoided from that group but past them I'd fancy us against either Sweden or Switzerland.
