Alli is playing too deep for me and also doesn't look 100% fit. His strength is getting beyond the striker or dropping off to link midfield and the strikers. He's not able to do either effectively from his deeper starting position. I'd drop Sterling and play Alli higher with Loftus Cheek in midfield against Croatia. Would play either Sterling or Rashford against the Swedes though as I think their pace will scare them.

Too many changes. The only change worth thinking about at the minute, injuries permitting, is Rose in Young. He looked lively when he came on and I agree with Hoddle when he says we could do with a left-footer in that wingback role.

Knockout football is cagey, neither team wanting to concede a goal and that isn't an ideal condition for players like Alli or Sterling to thrive. As Southgate noted going into the tournament, a lot of World Cup goals come from set-pieces rather than open play. You can tell we're set up for that, and I reckon Maguire will score against Sweden -- he won a lot of headers in Colombia's box. This said I am concerned about the lack of chances we create in open play.

I wouldn't start Loftus-Cheek because against Belgium he lacked an end product, which concerned me. Likewise, with Rashford, the chance he missed vs Belgium bothers me because it was a game with no pressure, but, his penalty was superb in the shootout, balls of steel! Frankly, I'm of the opinion that these players are best used as substitutes at this moment in time and we should keep the starting eleven the same.

Would defintely include Rashford. He is such a threat with his pace and trickery and we need someone who can unlock this well organised defence.

Hope Southgate doesn't just stick with what he's got out of loyalty and instead looks at this game in isolation as a one off.

I would bring in Loftus-Cheek and Rashford for Alli and Sterling. As you say, Alli doesn't look 100% fit.

Think rashford needs to come in for sterling, it's just not working for him.
Just don't think I could do another penalty shoot out again, we need to win in 90mins against Sweden.

Alli has lacked product full stop.

Honestly I’m finding it amazing that Colombian fans don’t think it was a penalty on kane. Apart from the fact the guy basically entered Kane from behind. He also pushed him in to the ref. My god they are bitter.

Deli is a strange situation, was he carrying a slight injury from the very start? I know they said they weren't going to take any injured players, if he wasn't carrying a slight injury before they went over, could he have picked up a slight injury in training and it got worse in the first game?

Would say Rashford has plenty of tricks of his own.

Yeah yeah i know but i just have a feeling that against more of a defence that won't bully him off the ball so much he might shine. I do like Rashford don't get me wrong but Stirling is always more busier which i like in any player.

Injuries apart, I'd expect him to start with the same eleven.

Yes, Sterling has been poor so far, his second touch is too often a tackle, but I think Southgate will want his pace and movement off the ball to drag static defenders around.

I'm certainly no fan of sterling but if he starts I'll probably have another punt on him to get a couple on the basis that he might finally come good.

He has to at some point, but based on the fact his scoring record at international level is so poor, I would go with Rashford, who is also very quick and does have an eye for goal.

even when sterling is poor(and he has been) he keeps defenders occupied with his movement. i imagine kane likes playing with him due to this.

i expect same 11

I like Sterling and agree, his movement is good, but I just Rashford is more in form at the moment and a better goalscoring option and it would also be interesting to see Sterling come on later in the game against a tiring defence.

Would love to see City play in this Uruguay kit. Really like it and really liked it when we had it in the 70's.

This would be my very happy concession for not having stripes.

My God do I hate this going down like you've been shot after a foul, only to spring back to life like you'be been instantly healed by Jesus 30 seconds later.

French player just went down and would think that may well be his game over, but about 15 seconds later he is running around like he was never ever touched.

It increasingly makes top level football a joke. So many swallow dives already in this game. Tom Daley would be impressed.
